Silly-Sausage dude I get being about consumer rights but I think you're overreacting on this one. It's nowhere near as bad as the VRBangers thing

xeddin1 spot on
The last thing we want is to piss our loyal customers. We want to be super intelligent and targeted. Most of the users shouldn't notice a chance.
If you are a long term customer, regularly streaming in the app, have connected sex toy, tried PT your download limits are going to be much bigger than default ones.
Writing is on the wall - fewer downloads each year and eventually none
doublevr This takes us back to the initial questions I asked in this thread [deleted] just to clarify, whenever I visit a random website and it asks about allowing cookies and data, my answer is always 'No' or 'Essentials only'. If a newspaper requires me to allow them just to read it, I usually won't bother, I stopped using facebook because of the data collection policy, I only use it for communication.
Why are you and VRBangers pushing us to use your apps in every possible way? I've noticed Badoink is starting to follow suit as well. How does this benefit SLR, and how does using the app to watch PT make us loyal members, other than just collecting data? Help me understand, so I can help you better.
[deleted] just a very wrong perspective on things.
It's as simple as some users download out of proportion and those churn most. We are trying to eliminate the issue.
Those who don't churn should enjoy downloads without interruption.
Users hitting download limits might have some options getting extra download points.
doublevr Maybe I've misunderstood the whole thing, but here you've just explained to me what we gain from using your application as users, and I've got that part from your previous posts. What I want to know now is what your company gains from it, and what VRBangers gain from us using PLAY'A. What if I stream through the browser without downloads, do I still get the same benefits?
I only joined since begin may with an annual scripts subscription and i think i downloaded only one video + script.
Before SLR i used Eroscript a lot so that meant downloading a lot of files, but with purchasing a Quest 2 i wanted the full experience, VR+scripts.
The big plus of SLR for me is the possibility to quickly find and watch video's you like at the moment. If you don't like it, just skip to the next video in your search. No need to download it first and have to wait before done, although the quality is better when downloaded and watched with Herespere.
I have a porn disk, full of (VR) porn files, downloaded before SLR but i'm thinking of deleting it because i rarely use it now since SLR. Also a favourite video is most of the times less favourite the next time i'm watching it.
So for me no problem but i can understand the other views.
Need to say that I'm also against changing rules in a subscription period like my year sub.
xeddin1 Dude, you know what I mean. Like, does streaming through the app makes for them more incomes than streaming directly through their site?
xeddin1 Jeez man! This feels like a dead end. Now it just seems like we're brainstorming in circles, trying to break through the matrix of reasons behind pushing us to use the app. @doublevr could clear this up with a simple answer.
I just want to know the answer to this question, which I'm asking for the third time: The whole dilemma is about people hoarding content and finding ways to stop them so they remain subscribed. What if I don't download at all and stream directly through the site (not the app since we're not getting any clear answers)? Is that okay, and will it give us the same benefits mentioned before?

I don’t think you will get an answer to a question about their financial statements, and I don’t think you should feel entitled to have an answer.
I also don’t think this post has an underlying scheme to push more people to stream, but rather, to stop abusers from downloading in extreme excess of what is appropriate.
[deleted] SLR wants people to use their app so they can control the experience. They can recommend certain scenes from SLRO or their key partners and accept income from studios wanting to promote their content in the user's "feed" (if they're not doing that now, they will eventually, it's a very typical form of soft advertising). SLR is treating porn like tech / social media and therefore control of the user's feed is vital in gathering data and forming a relationship with the user. Just like FB wouldn't want you to use some 3rd party viewer to check FB content. At some stage, no doubt, ads will be part of the equation, perhaps as part of a lower tier sub (like Netflix / Amazon Prime Video).
That's the reason they want you to use their app. It also makes tech support a lot easier. Unfortunately, DEO is not the best player in terms of features, especially when it comes to fixing production flaws / color correction. Fixing color / camera distance / perspective is not something a Netflix user needs to deal with, nor does an Instagram user have to fix photos or a Spotify user need to repair audio. But VR is such a different and complex beast that the player is incredibly important. Every single scene ever made benefits from some kind of adjustment in the player, even if it's just to account for the user's IPD / height or headset color profile. That's why as much as SLR wants to follow the Netflix model, the more discerning user will not use the built-in player until it is so good that is makes Heresphere redundant.
xeddin1 This is exactly why I accused you of being one of them at the beginning of this thread, and I still think you are. What the heck is this bias? What are you talking about? Read again what I said, we’re in a dead end unless he does us a favor and willingly tells us.
I deserve to know what I’m subscribing for. I also want to keep my choice of whether to use the app or not, so here’s a new equation I gave in my latest post make it easier to understand:
Monthly subscription + No app only browser + Streaming = Same rewards mentioned here doublevr ?
vrpicasso Thank you for the detailed answer. I want to use the site to stream, and I believe it allows them to gather all the data they need to give us a better experience and control our feed through some algorithm, just like I can use the browser to stream netflix movies.
doublevr this seems reasonable. After doing lifetime sub I almost never download since there's only two or three studios I like and they don't seem to be going anywhere. I can't imagine needing more than 30-40 downloads a month. When the private drive goes online you should make an option to just move videos straight from the website into private drive without having to download and then upload again. I think it would help with those of us worried about the impermanent nature of content on this platform.
[deleted] maybe I’m getting old and senile but I don’t understand the meat of information you are trying obtain. I know I don’t understand the why, which is most important. Unless your “why” is simply that you are curious and want to know stuff. But with how passionate you are I doubt that’s the case
doublevr I really appreciate SLR having a conversation like this before implementation. Much classier way to go about it than VRB.
I'll admit it, I'm regularly at around 30 downloads every 6 days. Where I download and where I view are at different locations. Simple as that.
I didn't know datahorder was a pejorative around here. Regardless. just because I download content doesn't mean I'm holding on to everything. I grab everything that looks good to me and filter out what I'm actually going to watch from the headset.
Effectively you are cutting me from 150 to 45 downloads a month. So I'll just need to be more selective.
However, this statement strikes me as strange:
If you are a long term customer, regularly streaming in the app, have connected sex toy, tried PT your download limits are going to be much bigger than default ones.
If I'm regularly streaming in the app, guess I don't really need more downloads right? Not really the olive branch you think it is, and makes me tend to agree with @[deleted] repeated question above. Asking myself why you want me in that app so bad?
My one request is you enforce studios properly labeling the titles when they upload a repeat, either reedit or upscale. So I'm not wasting a dl on a dup.
