all i want SLR to be is a good portal/aggregator of VR porn releases from as many sources as possible, all in one place. nothing else.
i dont need anything else, just as much good content as you can get on the platform.

That's @doublevr's speech for joining the World Economic Forum or WEF. That's essentially what they were all saying in the lectures I heard. We're no longer human, we're existential digital beings.

For now just focus on good film-making (great job Alex Nashe) and a decent story and casting. Right now, in my opinion, SLR is wanting in narrative quality. Every scene, or at least too many of them, concern kinky family sex fantasies. You heard it here first: I've heard rumors that certain credit companies might be blocking the sale of that next, so spend your time and money on better narratives!

I think you should keep the original files option up to 30 or 40 GB. Anything larger than that should be divided in half, with the halves released separately.

Haptics are a little far down the line, though the devices one day may be extremely profitable for the niche group that wants that experience.

Thanks for that! Don't think of an Elephant! See how my username has infected your thinking 😉

I hate multi-part releases. Hate them!! Proper bitrate encoding as already mentioned could easily create a sweet spot download size while maintaining perfectly acceptable view quality. Streaming customers don’t then have to have their experience interrupted and be frustrated waiting to get to the climactic parts. I pray this suggestion is summarily ignored/rejected and the logical arguments made by others above (see SchnuppiLilac) about download files be properly reconsidered!

Any others feeling passionately about this (I know a lot of you are out there) please speak up as well, we really don’t need this lunacy ruining content around here further.

Agree about avoiding multi part releases. I personally like to have best possible version of a scene so I like that they have the original versions on here, whatever the file size may be. I don’t download anywhere near as much as a lot of you guys though so that’s probably why. I’ve still almost filled 9TB but I really only download stuff that I’ve checked out and absolutely love.

I assume the version of the scene they make available for streaming is a significantly smaller file size so surely it would be easy to make that file available for download as well as the huge original file?

[deleted] ha ha yes, a few hours after making my comment, I was scrolling through stuff and saw your username and chuckled to myself! Maybe you were subliminally in my mind!

I'm not sure what file size we're talking about with these originals (I'm fine with 10-15GB, but it sounds like we're talking about something crazy large?), but I will say one thing very clearly.

No sensible download options = no subscription from me.

Hard disagree on this one. Multi-part releases should be avoided as a whole, unless each episode is a full scene and part of a narrative series, and NOT because of file size. Not only will you have a partial scene on release day, you'll have to wait for a few days to see the end of the scene. People will have to buy two scripts, it will take up two releases, but more importantly the experience of the scene itself will feel disjointed and not as immersive.

If this year's AVN winner Dream Team, by Nash, was split into two scenes, how would that even work? Also, on the SLR metrics side, it wouldn't have been the most popular video on SLR (as announced at the end of the year), due to splitting of the likes and view counts, it will split comments and feedback into two separate threads, and it will be difficult to see the scene as a single entity.

20 releases a month we are heading to speaks for itself.

The quality is only going up as we work with multiple production teams. Each has it's own style and is greatly motivated working for us.

Also you can enjoy multiple compilations and PMV for our content

doublevr nobody asked for 20 releases a month. I'd imagine a majority would be fine with 10 releases a month if it means you return to higher quality. When you were at your peak of quality and user happiness nobody was saying "PLEASE PLEASE, REDUCE YOUR QUALITY AND PUMP OUT LOW-QUALITY LOW-EFFORT VIDEOS".

doublevr Why does "as we work with multiple production teams." mean "The quality is only going up"?
How does that make the quality better? That only means more videos. That seems to be everybody complaint. The quality is going down a lot.
Do you not see what everybody is writing day after day after day. No one is saying we want more sub-par videos. We have tons of then on here. I can watch shitty porn anywhere. Millions of scenes are shitty. What did make you different was for a time Nash made the best VR videos the world had ever seen. Thus SLR was known as the best VR video maker. That is when I became a fan. I don't see anybody selling up SLR for having out of scale euro teams or censored JAV videos (there are already a lot of great JAV teams from japan making great videos on here, why would 3 more videos make a difference if they aren't great)
No one cares about thousands of average videos. We are saying over and over that we want great quality videos period. Why is that SO HARD to understand. That is where your time and money should be spent. But all you ever talk about is the future of VR and what you are spending your time on.

rerun119 highest quality VR is in our blood. Producing 4-5 videos is easy for each team.

If you point out specific issues with particular scenes we can work on that. I specifically talked with every team if there is anything we can level up to get better production. Nothing major was coming to mind

Otherwise all the data show we are doing things right. There a huge increase in watchtime.

doublevr I would love to tell you all the differences if I had a day to write it all down and I thought that someone would actually agree to consider it.

Let me ask you a question. Do you think that these are the same quality from (don't know the date anymore) 2 years ago

As these from last month? Both are 3 videos out of 6 in that period of time.

Do they all look like the same kind of videos to you? This is what "Producing 4-5 videos is easy for each team." looks like on my end of SLR. Maybe you think they are great.

PS. I didn't even bring up green videos that I can't watch with my Pimax if I wanted to.

                doublevr
I appreciate that you took the time to write that down but there's sadly nothing in there that really peaks my interest. Shooting interesting and technically solid VR videos is somehow the basic requirement for every VR porn site so I don't think that there's something special about it.

What happened to super high-quality 2d versions for every SLRO scene? IIRC that was on your vision last year and I was really looking forward to that...

[deleted] Right now, in my opinion, SLR is wanting in narrative quality.

Hard reality: There is no good storytelling in VR porn today, neither on SLR nor somewhere else.

It's because you simply can't create a good storyline without basic human interaction like speaking. Yeah, I know, it's revolutionary for some, but basic human interaction involves verbal communication from everyone involved, it's not a one sided affair...

[deleted] Every scene, or at least too many of them, concern kinky family sex fantasies.

What the heck are you smoking? I want some of that too... 🤣

That's just false information though. Almost all VR porn is just some goofy girl friend experience and only a tiny fraction involves faux family porn. It's a bit different in 2D porn (the porn universe in which some storytelling actually exists...) but imho the faux family stuff is still better than the old "pizza-guy", "massage-guy", "repair-guy" cliches we've seen over and over again in the past...

LordCrash there are some decent storylines coming out of POVR, not the best but decent enough. The Alyx Star genie one for example has at least a decent build up

bobbytables I'd call it "somewhat tolerable" rather than "good" but there are obviously some scnes with a better effort than others. Still tilting against windmills...

Brother, it is my personal mission — my purpose for being on this planet — to figure out how to get this right. One-sided dialog can only ever take you so far.

Today's immersive, "it's-happening-to-me" POV is a game changing development for sure. It's up there with adding sound to picture in the early days of the "talkies". We live in the goddamn future and everything is amazing! But it's beginning to feel like we arrived there and just....stopped. We forgot to be curious.

Part of the solve for this, I think, is to untether ourselves from the idea that VR porn must be POV. Thousands of years of human erotica has involved watching other people have sex, and to think that we've somehow evolved past that is foolishness.

I know a lot of people say they don't like non-POV, and my theory is that's mostly because they just haven't seen it done well. My background is in film production and live theatre production and what excites me most about VR is this is a medium where those two things overlap to create something new. And the rules of just one don't apply. We get to discover a whole new visual language combining 120 years of cinema-craft and 2000 years of theatre-craft into a whole new thing, the surface of which we've just begun to scratch.

                    Holy shit that's amazing, right?!?

I'm thrilled to be joining SLR as a producer, and let me tell you, my goal isn't to churn out a shittier version of what Nash, VRF, etc already do well. I adore those cats and I'm honored to be working along side them.

But @doublevr has directed me to experiment, explore, innovate, and generally chase down crazy ideas. I'll play with visuals, with storytelling, with color and sound and light and texture and editing and all kinds of other crazy shit.

I won't get them all right, but I promise everyone this: If I'm asking for your time, I'll do my very best to earn it. I'll work my ass off to entertain the hell out of you motherfuckers* because I love the work and I love you all, too.
