argyle43 what it serves is the equivalent of drowning an auditor with 20,000 boxes of paper

To be honest, I was thinking the same thing. Nobody seems to need the super huge SLRO files at this point. It would take no additional resources to encode them in two instead of three digit bitrates in the first place. The files would cause less traffic and need less storage space, so SLR would even save some resources. But sure, if it's true that more than 99.9 % of customers are perfectly happy with 22 Mbps 8K or less (even the 4K h.264 client base seems to be more relevant), then I can understand why there is no real need for SLR to change anything.

Would have been nice to have a high bitrate download alternative but as long as there is an original to download I'm pretty satisfied. Just bought a 18tb drive so...

argyle43 he's too lost in his own sauce to realize the horrible state the foundation is in. I have zero problems with them doing R&D and expanding features, but only if they keep a good foundation (quality SLR videos). Instead he's up in the rafters tinkering while the foundation's quality gets worse and worse. Meanwhile competitors are putting out better and better content, with stories and lighting and high bitrates with great models.

bobbytables You are so right. For me if the other site with almost the same videos minus the amateurish stuff can get scripts then its game over. They make really high quality videos week after week.

doublevr I’m just here to watch VR porn! A lot of what you are talking is pie in the sky, years and years away from being a reality. If and when you get there and people have the equipment to take advantage of it, great. Right now though, as you have said, there’s a long way to go. How about then, for now, just releasing the top quality VR porn we all want to see and pay for and doing your R&D behind the scenes instead of releasing these primitive looking passthrough scenes that are neither one thing nor the other and don’t work in any meaningful way for most customers.

all i want SLR to be is a good portal/aggregator of VR porn releases from as many sources as possible, all in one place. nothing else.
i dont need anything else, just as much good content as you can get on the platform.

That's @doublevr's speech for joining the World Economic Forum or WEF. That's essentially what they were all saying in the lectures I heard. We're no longer human, we're existential digital beings.

For now just focus on good film-making (great job Alex Nashe) and a decent story and casting. Right now, in my opinion, SLR is wanting in narrative quality. Every scene, or at least too many of them, concern kinky family sex fantasies. You heard it here first: I've heard rumors that certain credit companies might be blocking the sale of that next, so spend your time and money on better narratives!

I think you should keep the original files option up to 30 or 40 GB. Anything larger than that should be divided in half, with the halves released separately.

Haptics are a little far down the line, though the devices one day may be extremely profitable for the niche group that wants that experience.

Thanks for that! Don't think of an Elephant! See how my username has infected your thinking 😉

I hate multi-part releases. Hate them!! Proper bitrate encoding as already mentioned could easily create a sweet spot download size while maintaining perfectly acceptable view quality. Streaming customers don’t then have to have their experience interrupted and be frustrated waiting to get to the climactic parts. I pray this suggestion is summarily ignored/rejected and the logical arguments made by others above (see SchnuppiLilac) about download files be properly reconsidered!

Any others feeling passionately about this (I know a lot of you are out there) please speak up as well, we really don’t need this lunacy ruining content around here further.

Agree about avoiding multi part releases. I personally like to have best possible version of a scene so I like that they have the original versions on here, whatever the file size may be. I don’t download anywhere near as much as a lot of you guys though so that’s probably why. I’ve still almost filled 9TB but I really only download stuff that I’ve checked out and absolutely love.

I assume the version of the scene they make available for streaming is a significantly smaller file size so surely it would be easy to make that file available for download as well as the huge original file?

[deleted] ha ha yes, a few hours after making my comment, I was scrolling through stuff and saw your username and chuckled to myself! Maybe you were subliminally in my mind!

I'm not sure what file size we're talking about with these originals (I'm fine with 10-15GB, but it sounds like we're talking about something crazy large?), but I will say one thing very clearly.

No sensible download options = no subscription from me.

Hard disagree on this one. Multi-part releases should be avoided as a whole, unless each episode is a full scene and part of a narrative series, and NOT because of file size. Not only will you have a partial scene on release day, you'll have to wait for a few days to see the end of the scene. People will have to buy two scripts, it will take up two releases, but more importantly the experience of the scene itself will feel disjointed and not as immersive.

If this year's AVN winner Dream Team, by Nash, was split into two scenes, how would that even work? Also, on the SLR metrics side, it wouldn't have been the most popular video on SLR (as announced at the end of the year), due to splitting of the likes and view counts, it will split comments and feedback into two separate threads, and it will be difficult to see the scene as a single entity.

20 releases a month we are heading to speaks for itself.

The quality is only going up as we work with multiple production teams. Each has it's own style and is greatly motivated working for us.

Also you can enjoy multiple compilations and PMV for our content

doublevr nobody asked for 20 releases a month. I'd imagine a majority would be fine with 10 releases a month if it means you return to higher quality. When you were at your peak of quality and user happiness nobody was saying "PLEASE PLEASE, REDUCE YOUR QUALITY AND PUMP OUT LOW-QUALITY LOW-EFFORT VIDEOS".

doublevr Why does "as we work with multiple production teams." mean "The quality is only going up"?
How does that make the quality better? That only means more videos. That seems to be everybody complaint. The quality is going down a lot.
Do you not see what everybody is writing day after day after day. No one is saying we want more sub-par videos. We have tons of then on here. I can watch shitty porn anywhere. Millions of scenes are shitty. What did make you different was for a time Nash made the best VR videos the world had ever seen. Thus SLR was known as the best VR video maker. That is when I became a fan. I don't see anybody selling up SLR for having out of scale euro teams or censored JAV videos (there are already a lot of great JAV teams from japan making great videos on here, why would 3 more videos make a difference if they aren't great)
No one cares about thousands of average videos. We are saying over and over that we want great quality videos period. Why is that SO HARD to understand. That is where your time and money should be spent. But all you ever talk about is the future of VR and what you are spending your time on.

rerun119 highest quality VR is in our blood. Producing 4-5 videos is easy for each team.

If you point out specific issues with particular scenes we can work on that. I specifically talked with every team if there is anything we can level up to get better production. Nothing major was coming to mind

Otherwise all the data show we are doing things right. There a huge increase in watchtime.
