justsomedude101 Sorry you aren't a fan of the Passthrough, and maybe some day with a newer or future headset you'll find one you like. But just to be clear I don't think there is any plan whatsoever to stop producing this type of content. It's pushing the medium forward and the Passthrough releases thus far have been hugely popular and in large part very well-received.

I can assure you that I will never use it, even if I have a full color crystal clear passthrough... which I will have next month with PS VR2.

Personally, putting a pornstar in my bedroom or living room breaks my immersion, because I know that's not true. And the blending between video and background is never going to be perfect, you always notice glitches and imperfections in the blending of both layers that break immersion.

Passthrough is an immersion breaking machine.

Passthrough forces you to position your body at the same angle as the camera, and that's often not possible, or it's uncomfortable, or it's an angle you don't like. That's why in the end it comes down to two shots: lying down or standing up. Completely limited. I watch VR seated...

On top of that, the passthrough makes the movies more boring and restrictive, because there are limitations on angles so that the perspective of the background is not spoiled. So you are pushing the girls further away from the camera and a lot of more varied camera shots that don't fit well with the passthrough have been eliminated.

Movies with passthrough are worse and duller than normal ones, all others aside....

              I can only imagine how cool it is to fuck in front of the camera in crappy warehouses before huge green screens and no set whatsover. Splendid experience, I guess. Who wouldn't want to do sexy things in such an environment?

              But I think there's still improvement possible for the "really real" passthrough experience in our own homes since the girls don't need to wear sexy lingerie or make-up etc. Give us the real-life experience with rather mediocre looking girls in cheap clothes and bad or no make-up at all who we can fuck in our crappy flats just like we're used to do in real life...

                You know, in theory it would be possible to produce CGI and stuff that looks good. But for top-class CGI you need both top-class artists who probably either work for Hollywood than for Porn Valley and you need shitloads of cash.
                VR porn in most cases is produced on a tight budget though so that's not really feasible.

                              I'm not trying to be combative. It's just that I get on today to see if any SLR videos got scripted. Maybe the "Sexual Alchemy: Sounds of Pleasure" video or some of the other ones that are in the coming soon section (that just sit there forever). But no, the new green screen one got the attention. One day after the release. I'm sure that will help the numbers on the PT videos being a hit.

                              Will the video from today "Raw Taboo: Unusual Trio" be scripted tomorrow? That will show where the real priorities are.

                                    It would make so much sense to cut SLRO into different labels/studios with fixed release days etc, much like CzechVR is already doing it.

                                    It would be far better for everyone if there was something like that:

                                    • SLR Originals (high class VR porn scenes, "Nash" style , 3 scenes a week, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday)
                                    • SLR Experimental (VR warehouse scenes with different topics, "VRfanservice" style, 1 scene a week every Monday)
                                    • SLR Euro (VR euro scenes, 1 scene a week, every Thursday)
                                    • SLR Fetish (VR fetish scenes like bukkake, BDSM, watersports etc, 1 scene a week, every Saturday)
                                    • SLR Passthrough (AR scenes with greenscreen, 1 scene a week, every Tuesday)

                                    So everybody would know when they can expect new scenes they might like and nothing would be cannibalized...

                                          1. We're not living in 2024 yet but in early 2023. We pay you also money now, in 2023, and not in 2024. Well, maybe we will, but we'll see about that when it's time.
                                          2. It's fine that you experiment. All companies do, at least the good ones investing in the future. But they sell the final product when it's ready, everything else happens behind the curtains. Right now neither the software nor the hardware is ready for this stuff, it's an alpha version for both at best. Nothing that should hit the market.
                                          3. No matter on how many headsets passthrough will be available in whatever year in the future it will always be AR porn and not VR porn and it will neither substitute 2D porn nor VR porn. It's just something different and not everybody is and will be into this for reasons that are outlined in this thread. So no matter how advanced passthrough will become in the future quite a few people will still want to watch VR porn instead.
                                          4. If you want to push SLR towards AR porn please be at least honest about it right there on the starting page where you sell your product. It's not VR porn you're selling here, it's AR porn and AR porn in some alpha version.

                                            Personally, I have zero interest in passthrough. I don't want to see my own body and room. My body is not pleasant to look at and my room is... well, a boring regular bedroom. The technology to convincingly make it seem like you're the male performer (assuming you're male, of course) is IMHO still a long way away, if it ever comes. Depth mapping etc is great tech but short of computer-animated performers and real-time 3D-modelling your body in the headset (which ain't gonna happen) it will always require some suspension of disbelief to achieve the immersion passthrough fans are looking for.

                                            But just because I don't want it, doesn't mean I don't want anyone to have it, or that I object to you spending performer time or money shooting scenes that way. I would be extremely disappointed if it became the standard. But then I am super-picky already so maybe only 25% of scenes hold any real interest for me. I'm used to having limited choice, especially as I don't do anything without a script these days. To each his own.

                                            I agree that maybe a sub-studio or brand might be the way to go here. I also agree with the point that, when a particular performer is highly-anticipated and has no VR back-catalog, filming a single passthrough scene with them limits the audience to those who can and want to use passthrough, and the green-screen technique makes it difficult for anyone else to enjoy it. Maybe a self-imposed rule that the first time a performer shoots for you it should be a regular VR video would placate the non-passthrough audience?

                                            I get (and like) that SLR is so future-focussed in terms of VR tech. Enthusiasm for the medium is what separates you out from certain other box-checking VR studios I could mention. But IMHO enthusiasm should aways be tempered with an understanding that if you set out to be a one-stop shop for VR porn, you need to cater to the widest audience possible.

                                            Hey people, here is what we are considering for those who don't like to use passthrough:

                                            • an option to choose any DeoVR environment instead of your room (you can also choose custom 360 image as @sletje showed)

                                              Sandi_SLR tough to say without seeing it in vr. on first look its alright i think. i'm sure plenty would prefer you just don't shoot passthrough videos in a green room where you get a green tint on the skin (actually most would probably prefer you don't shoot greenscreen at all, especially new models on the platform), but I'm sure you're gonna do it anyway.
                                              In my ideal world for stuff shot in a green screen room you'd just offer a second file in the green screen room (not the keyed version) and let us use a color picker to change the wall colors. In theory a green room shot (not keyed with that flat green) with even a preset o colors to choose from would use the same tech for passthrough but instead throw on a color instead of a video feed from the headset. for example me personally i might find a lighter gray is much more visually comfortable than this charcoal, which would also mean that for other videos not shot for greenscreen can still have a color set instead of passthrough camera. But as it stands your screenshot is at least better than what exists.
