justsomedude101 This is how I see it. Maybe 20% of the people like PT and 80% don't like it or can't even watch with PT.
There are 4 green screen video out on SLR so you get 20% of the people watching it over and over. I'm sure this makes the numbers look good. So now you and other companies are all going to chase that 20% until the PT market is full and the numbers start to come down. I do understand going after the money. But the 80% start to lose faith in SLR because they stopped making videos that we can watch.
The problem is that I can't watch it if I wanted to. So when you put a girl that has never shot a VR video before then 80% of us just get pissed that we might never see her in VR.

If you are just going to take the background out of the video with editing then can't you do this with any video? Why not just make a normal video and do it. I have to wait on videos to be scripted. Can't you do the same thing with PT? Or make a different studio called SLRPT (like SLR Trans) and put a video out every Wednesday that way we don't feel gypped.

I do want to point out though that we've also increased the release frequency every week, so I don't necessarily agree with the idea that we're alienating any our members since we're not only providing more variety with things like Passthrough releases that a lot of folks do enjoy, but we're also releasing more often every single week. But I understand what you're saying.

            Sandi_SLR @justsomedude101 That's fine, but i'd actually prefer the version where i can see the greenscreen room instead of the key'd in green over the greenscreen room. At least then I can have a sense of space in the environment. like at the very least if you're gonna use a greenscreen room let us see it if we have to deal with greenscreen vids. All i'm asking now is that that vid that was released today is rereleased or given a second download option for the version without the keying/mask/whatever on and let me see the room, that will at least stop it from being a flat green 2d shape in front of my eyes.

            In fact I really don't think changing the color would help much as you both have talked about, that doesn't necessarily help the glaring issue that with the key the color is now a 2d flat surface in front of your eyes. I think the real answer is to BOTH give an option for seeing the room AND changing the color, and if you can only do one do the one where you can see the room. I tried the scene again a few minutes ago and I started getting sick because your flat green gives no point of reference to the space around me, seeing the actual green room with the markers would fix that. I can pretend i'm a pornstar filming on set or something if i have to.

              and for the handful of people who own a headset with decent resolution color passthrough its probably still unwatchable, thanks to the amount of green spill. its like youre fucking someone from shrek.

              Idea: You could put a CGI background or a custom room background instead of the original green screen from the video. 😉
              Could be awesome to have a few backgrounds + the green screen version for passthrough and then be able to select the version you want to watch.

                I get it that there are more releases therefore we’re not losing content quantity to these experiments, but it is pretty disappointing when anticipated quality talent finally get shot, but in unwatchable scenes. Maybe shoot the less anticipated performers in these? I wouldn’t be sad at all if this pass-through stuff died on the vine though, and I really hope enough people start to speak out often enough that this happens. I have zero interest banging hotties in my shitty bedroom - it’s semi-interesting for about 30 seconds. If I was well off enough to have a view in real life that matched the quality of the girl(s), I probably wouldn’t be fucking them in VR, yes? I far prefer the gorgeous mansions with windows looking out to beautiful views that you guys used to put out on a regular basis.

                The smallest thing that kills the immersion and then what’s the point? — VR porn is supposed to transport you into believable fantasy. Experiment is good to a point, but please don’t get so unfocused that you kill the competitive advantage SLR has gained. Hot girls, lots of them and often, in incredible settings. I’d much rather pay for two good quality scenes per week, than four sub-par warehouse set pieces and unwatchable experiment that is interesting to easily less than 20% of the subscriber base.

                rolly there are studios that used to do this, hobbit caves, and flying carpets, and all sorts of other nonsense. It always looks fake as fuck and kills immersion. This stuff just isn’t ready for prime time and maybe never should be.

                    argyle43 I think it would still be better than watching a green screen. Else you are just left with the "option" of not watching if you don't have a good device for passthrough or if you don't like passthrough.
                    They need to find a way so the videos can be used in both passthrough with a green screen and "normal" with a background. These videos will still be made and there will be even more of them in the future once more people will have a device that has a good passthrough. We just need to find a way that can benefit everyone.

                        rolly well I’m sorry but AR sex blows. It doesn’t hold a candle to well produced VR. The sooner people see that and say so, the better.

                          justsomedude101 Sorry you aren't a fan of the Passthrough, and maybe some day with a newer or future headset you'll find one you like. But just to be clear I don't think there is any plan whatsoever to stop producing this type of content. It's pushing the medium forward and the Passthrough releases thus far have been hugely popular and in large part very well-received.

                          I can assure you that I will never use it, even if I have a full color crystal clear passthrough... which I will have next month with PS VR2.

                          Personally, putting a pornstar in my bedroom or living room breaks my immersion, because I know that's not true. And the blending between video and background is never going to be perfect, you always notice glitches and imperfections in the blending of both layers that break immersion.

                          Passthrough is an immersion breaking machine.

                          Passthrough forces you to position your body at the same angle as the camera, and that's often not possible, or it's uncomfortable, or it's an angle you don't like. That's why in the end it comes down to two shots: lying down or standing up. Completely limited. I watch VR seated...

                          On top of that, the passthrough makes the movies more boring and restrictive, because there are limitations on angles so that the perspective of the background is not spoiled. So you are pushing the girls further away from the camera and a lot of more varied camera shots that don't fit well with the passthrough have been eliminated.

                          Movies with passthrough are worse and duller than normal ones, all others aside....

                                      But I think there's still improvement possible for the "really real" passthrough experience in our own homes since the girls don't need to wear sexy lingerie or make-up etc. Give us the real-life experience with rather mediocre looking girls in cheap clothes and bad or no make-up at all who we can fuck in our crappy flats just like we're used to do in real life...

                                        You know, in theory it would be possible to produce CGI and stuff that looks good. But for top-class CGI you need both top-class artists who probably either work for Hollywood than for Porn Valley and you need shitloads of cash.
                                        VR porn in most cases is produced on a tight budget though so that's not really feasible.

                                            For whatever reason a handful of people think this AR shit is good, but I promise you the upper part of the Pareto curve on this one do not. Maybe the "Sexual Alchemy: Sounds of Pleasure" video or some of the other ones that are in the coming soon section (that just sit there forever). But no, the new green screen one got the attention. One day after the release. I'm sure that will help the numbers on the PT videos being a hit.
