I figured the increase in streams is a result of an increase in standalone Quest 2 users with the natural tendency/simplicity to stream, while the original PC/VR downloaders are still hanging in there. There's hardly any rise because new people are not spending on PC rigs like when the Rift first released.
According to VRCompare, Quest 2 launched in Oct '20. The previous streaming rise may have been the result of prior Quest headsets released mid '19. Afterwards on release, especially during the Christmas holiday, Quest 2 sales/streaming rises dramatically, steady into the new year, and steep again during the same holiday season in '21.
With Cambria not requiring a Facebook account, that will cause another spike in streaming which may include me if I can stream 4-5k with no buffering issues. If the same happens to many others who transition from PC/VR to standalone headsets, downloads could peak and begin a slow decline.
