Yeah, possibly. Didn't even think of that one.

doublevr it's time watched vs video downloads.
The point is that streaming grows and downloads aren't
that’s an apples to tennis shoes comparison though. you guys have forced me to download your last three scenes since I cannot stream them any longer (unless of course the mood strikes to watch my porn through a turned around telescope). So in the case of the Mean Girls release, that’s one download, except I’ve already watched that one download for five hours, something you’ve got zero way to measure, but very germane to your comparison. And the truth is, your download volumes are only going to grow with your move to exclude people with older hardware from streaming your latest original scenes.
For your comparison metrics to come close to meaning anything here, I guess I should download the scene each time I want to watch it ?
I think it’s safe to conclude that the steeper slope on the streaming graph just means your content is getting a lot better, and it is. As I recall you guys started started standing out via SLRO content with the cheerleader threesome. You’ve frustratingly removed actual dates from your scene history, so difficult to see if that scene coincides exactly with the separation of the stream vs. download slopes, but looks like I downloaded that scene early Feb of 2020 so the timing does look to agree with your chart, and I’ve also streamed that one plenty!
I do seriously doubt any trained statistician would ever agree with the conclusion you seem to want to make about downloads. I certainly hope you’re not trying to make the case to remove downloads here. Especially now with this move to 190deg format.
Streams will always be way higher than downloads now that streaming is decent quality. Even if you are someone (like me) who does download your favourite scenes to keep them, you’ll still have streamed it first to see if it’s worth downloading so, at the very least it’s one stream and one download. You’ll also have streamed hundreds of scenes that you ultimately decide aren’t good enough to download. There’s also times when I just can’t be bothered getting the laptop out, plugging in external hard drives etc. I just switch the Quest 2 on and stream the scene instead.
doublevr The point is that streaming grows and downloads aren't
Regardless of how true that is, I get the feeling you want us to move towards less downloading and more streaming. If so, why? I mean, it's not like we who mainly download will suddenly end our subscription and only watch our downloaded files. Right? Personally I can't see myself ever watching mainly streams, for many reasons. So please don't go too far with this. I will leave if you do.
I figured the increase in streams is a result of an increase in standalone Quest 2 users with the natural tendency/simplicity to stream, while the original PC/VR downloaders are still hanging in there. There's hardly any rise because new people are not spending on PC rigs like when the Rift first released.
According to VRCompare, Quest 2 launched in Oct '20. The previous streaming rise may have been the result of prior Quest headsets released mid '19. Afterwards on release, especially during the Christmas holiday, Quest 2 sales/streaming rises dramatically, steady into the new year, and steep again during the same holiday season in '21.
With Cambria not requiring a Facebook account, that will cause another spike in streaming which may include me if I can stream 4-5k with no buffering issues. If the same happens to many others who transition from PC/VR to standalone headsets, downloads could peak and begin a slow decline.
Rakly3 Most people whom download, download way more than actually watch.
How do you know?
doublevr Ok, dude. Love your facts based explanation.
doublevr but the quality is better than streaming
RockyMtHigh can't see that
doublevr if you think streaming has the same picture quality as downloading you are clearly biased.
Looking more and more like the stage is being set to eliminate downloads. That’s going to go over like a lead balloon
Here are my reasons for downloading, in no particular order:
@doublevr Saying downloading is shit just because you used to download a lot of movies that you never watched is a bit weird, tbh. I watch every single video I download, anyway.
The fact that you add streaming features is great () but please remember that people are different and prefer different things.
One of the things I like the the most about SLR is that you give us the option to download videos with high bitrates. And that's especially true for your SLRO videos. Please don't make that worse. Give us freedom to choose what we want. And don't forget that the customer is always right.
