  • SLR Streaming vs Downloads data

doublevr sorry but you keep taking things away that people want, so it’s very hard to know what to expect when you keep disparaging downloading and attacking people that try to explain why they prefer downloading.

And I hope download limitations aren’t coming anytime, period.

Here are my reasons for downloading, in no particular order:

  1. Better video quality. I can definitely see a difference, especially in finer details, like skin texture. And I really like skin texture.
  2. I don't have to wait for videos to buffer etc. When I do stream, to find which ones I want to download, I select 2160p. Otherwise everything simply takes too long. I don't think it's a problem on just my end, because I have a pretty solid 300 Mbps connection which should be more than enough to stream at your highest stream quality. And when I download your videos, I usually reach 300.
  3. I can keep the videos I like forever. Even if I rarely rewatch videos, because there is so much new to watch, I really like knowing I have it forever. Partly, but not only, I guess it's some kind of hoarding issue, though. 😄
  4. I don't have to use DeoVR. DeoVR is pretty good, except that it makes my computer fans spin like crazy. I use HereSphere and find it better in every way.

@doublevr Saying downloading is shit just because you used to download a lot of movies that you never watched is a bit weird, tbh. I watch every single video I download, anyway.
The fact that you add streaming features is great (🙄) but please remember that people are different and prefer different things.
One of the things I like the the most about SLR is that you give us the option to download videos with high bitrates. And that's especially true for your SLRO videos. Please don't make that worse. Give us freedom to choose what we want. And don't forget that the customer is always right. 😀

doublevr The slr team this new company can't solve the problem that users download videos and even share them, the whole adult industry is troubled by this problem and can not solve it . From my humble opinion, slr should be nice and honest to your vip and those potential users to win a good reputation. With the development , there will be a continuous customer growth in vr, they will be confused which is best to choose they will ask people where to go, and your advocates will tell them come here, even if 1 percent of them register as vip , you succeed. btw you still should be nice to those 99% left ,they won't give you money , they will give you a good reputation in all social forums... as for vidoes productions there are always methods to get them freely or sell them second hand , you seem lose at this point but when you are know to all by this free way the rich people and those who don't know how to download videos will come for you.

doublevr l see many adult 2d video companys have many limits on their sites like you cannot preview their videos and pictures when you click it the PayPal option pops out they spare no efforts to get money but they are losing money . As a big company, be generous and take a long view for the future.

gurphh I don't have to use DeoVR. DeoVR is pretty good, except that it makes my computer fans spin like crazy. I use HereSphere and find it better in every way.

I can only second this. Heresphere is my preferred player, best player and best developer right now.

But imho it's good that both streaming and downloads exist. To each their own. 😉

Rakly3 Did you see any increase of download about scene of SLR Original that are no more watchable for Oculus Go or any device that can't be upgrate anymore with the last version of deovr ?

argyle43 I made this exact point for this graph over at Reddit and he called me names (as usual). I am a PhD level statistician. It is easy to see that he is creating the graph to support the conclusion he wants. Cherry picking data doesn't work on data scientists 😆

doublevr In this company we never fake things.

The point isn’t that the data is faked. It’s that comparing files downloaded to time streamed is not compatible for a whole list of reasons. It’s not apples to apples so no truly meaningful conclusion can be drawn. Any true data scientist will tell you the same and in fact they already have. You just don’t seem to want to hear it.

Whatever the why’s and wherefore’s, what that graph does show is a big increase in overall activity on the site which suggests it has grown the subscriber base a lot in that time. The more fans on here the better as you get a greater variety of tastes and hopefully this leads to a greater variety of content.

Avakian Not to a degree it would be impactful no. I'm sure this is the case for some users.

petermc what that graph does show is a big increase in overall activity on the site

Without a y-axis label, it doesn't even show that. For all we know, the bottom point could be "1" and the top point "2".

RockyMtHigh Right? Most of the time when I comment, I am legit trying to help him since I really want the site to succeed. Stubborn like a mule, though.

doublevr Why is downloading shit? My internet connection only lets me stream at 2160p but I can download and watch at the highest you can make. I don't understand why you seem to hate it so much.

petermc exactly a point I tried to make above

argyle43 I think it’s safe to conclude that the steeper slope on the streaming graph just means your content is getting a lot better, and it is.

Increased quantity multiplied by longer time streaming views would support that conclusion, whereas downloads would continue to increase on a more constant and less steep slope; exactly what is depicted.

But I disagree the chart tells us that “streaming is greater than downloads”, unless we can see data around how often files are opened and how long they are watched once downloaded. The conclusions around that are just guessed at above.

I only stream to check the scene (minute or two), if i like it i download and then watch, but since i check a lot of scenes and download a lot less (maybe 1 in 20 of those checked), i guess i contribute more to streaming, even though i strongly prefer downloads.
