What is a good guideline for choosing a video for the Drive Ai Passthrough for best results.
Before uploading... Excited to do it by end of December.

All I can guess is a contrast between the primary model and the background and that's about it.
Models with different colors of skin against what background?
Most successful background color palettes of the videos in general?
Can you share these similar general guidelines with other answers with the members on the actual drive page, with a FAQ there?
Minimum frame size/resolution? Is there one or does this depend on the content quality of the video?
I read the blog posts trying to find this type of information.

A little advanced now, also specifically I'd love to join some much shorter films together first, if that's possible on a Mac, like to concatenate them? Why not have a queue available for Drive to add shorter films to, and the Drive Upload can put them together nicely for us?
I'm kind of a newbie besides watching, downloading, transferring to headset.

the AI generation pricing is fine, but $10 for an offline render is so ridiculous that I just learned to do it on my own with Davinci + magicmask lol. there aren't that many scenes from other sites that I want PT for to justify another monthly sub just to store those scenes

Congratulations to the SLR team, I uploaded my videos and they worked perfectly. I hope all of this will be in production soon.

My opinion:

I only use AI PT, I wish the processed videos could be downloaded, $9.99/video is a price I would gladly pay (I don't know anything about video editing, but I have enough local storage)
I don't like recurring payments. I would prefer a lifetime payment for storage.

adinihsan thatoculusdude Earlier this year, before I even heard about SLR drive, I tried both RunwayML (paid version) and Da Vinci Resolve Magic Mask to create passthrough videos myself. While it's possible to do so with these apps, it's very impractical for any large scale conversion.
For RunwayML you need to downscale the video, upload it, create the green screen, download the green screen / masked video, upscale the mask back to the original resolution and overlay it onto the original video (using ffmpeg). Basically, it's too time consuming to do all of these steps.
For Da Vinci Resolve, the AI Magic Mask tracking can be finnicky with VR and too much manual input is required to make necessary corrections. Also very time consuming as well.
Realistically, for a large scale conversion I'm guessing you'd have to use AI models like Meta SAM2 (Segment Anything Model) in combination with YOLO model (You Only Look Once) for object detection but I never explored that fully. It would require a lot of coding and VR-specific AI model training to create a pipeline for large scale conversion with these models. I'm guessing nobody at the moment is willing to code such a thing for free.
Not to mention, if you don't have enough GPU processing for your needs, you probably need to spin up some beefy AWS EC2s with significant GPU / AI capable processing power - this can be very $$$.
So for now, we pay SLR.

thatoculusdude I mean I gave that info for good reason lol. If you have 1080p or lower 2D vids you want to try it with it works perfectly, I never said it would work for VR

GenericUser3 yeah. Nothing comes close to the convenience of SLR Drive. The only thing I'll keep doing on my own is VR deep fakes for personal use. I have a my own custom software and workflows in RunPod (expensive per single 8k vids, but worth it) and for the time being I haven't found anything superior. But PT and scripts? SLR seems ideal ❤️

So where are these drive credits then? Uploaded 2 videos, applied a credit to each and they did not look so great. Terrible lighting, so I deleted them. They say 24 hours to get those 2 credits back but this was almost 2 days ago now...

I thought this was supposed to be a promotional month or something? Sofar with waiting to upload and waiting to render AI and then having to scrap and wait to do it again, feeling like more of a hassle than its worth

sogman there are no 12h or anything to fix. Will take weeks in better case.
We are building the whole setup to operate it. Works great for most videos. Some require extra work on the algorithms.
We don't hold liability for results for each token, but we are committed our best to make things work

I built my toolset with Python and a lot of clever ways to refocus > dewarp > face swap > rewarp > paste back VR frames, and currently it takes me a few hours of full usage of 6-8 L40 GPUs for 40-50 minute 8K vids. The results are AMAZING, but the cost is a bit high. If you guys come up with something close to my solution and cheaper, I'd love you guys forever 🔥

would it be possible to introduce an archive option, which moves your videos to slower storage (like AWS glacier). Which should be cheaper and when you want to watch it, then you have the option to move it from archive to online. Maybe this can reduce the subscription costs..

adinihsan It works fine with vr.. You just have to select a mask twice 🙂 Also if anyone knows whats up with this slr drive credits let me know. Before I deleted 2 dud videos, it said it would take 24 hours to get the credits back but they are still gone days later. Another bug, or just a feature?

sogman we don't plan to replace credits that didn't work. There will be an option to buy more
