  • Downloads plan revamp

If downloads were removed entirely I’d be upset, but that’s clearly not the case. I’m in no position to judge, I’m just another loser posting on a porn forum after all….but if some of you guys are really downloading THAT much porn….please find some additional hobbies or things to be passionate about. I say this out of genuine concern as someone who admittedly also overindulges in my porn consumption at times. Your sex drive will diminish as you get older and at the end of the day you can’t take your downloads with you when you die. 😅. Why are you hoarding so much porn?

Exactly. People freaking out over being capped at like 50 downloads a month. Maybe I’m missing something but in reality I think people cry just to cry or they cry because they are the hoarders trying to have an entire website downloaded on a thumbdrive

As a user since 2020, I've already downloaded everything I'm interested in and just top up as good scenes come in - which is not many TBH. So far in June it's 10 scenes. So while newer users who are still discovering old and new content will be affected by download limits, I won't be - yet. My only hesitation with the policy is 1) download limits only go down, not up, so one day I may be affected and 2) if users leave in protest then that leaves less revenue to create new content. We all want SLR to flourish 💪

xeddin1 There's nothing wrong with your username just said it's probably still written in the whiteboard in SLR's office, or meeting room. Just move on

Let's say I have all the content on SLR, including SLROs and other studio content, so I don't need a membership, right? What keeps me subscribed to SLR is new, great content. I bought a yearly membership in September 2022, followed by a monthly one in November 2023 (and a few monthlies before that). Since December 2023, when the monthly production of SLROs was reduced, I transferred my membership to VRSpy, which I believe is owned by SLR or AlexNash. My renewable monthly membership has continued until now.

What's keeping me there is that I'm already subscribed to most of the VR studios, so I don't need SLR's entire library, especially since they don't own POVR studios' new content. Plus, there was a downgrade in SLR models, and I can barely count 5 SLRO scenes I'd like to watch. But I stay with VRSpy because I like 95% of their scenes and want to watch them on the day of release, and here I'm will be enjoying Chloe Surreal tomorrow. So, reducing downloads per month won't keep me subscribed.

How else do you think this can benefit SLR?

        [deleted]

Based on what you said, you seem unhappy with some of the newer content. I can't completely fault you, but this is not anything new to VR porn. I am also subd to most of them and feel they come out with a good one every 6-7 releases (need more big titted models).

How does this benefit SLR? I don't know, but I doubt they are doing it just to say "fuck you haha". It's a business, and someone or a team said "We are losing out on money because of XYZ". So how does it benefit SLR? Money I would say is a fair guess.

But what you said shows it doesn't even matter if there is a cap on downloadable content because most of the newer stuff coming out isn't of interest to you. So how does this proposed download cap negatively effect you?

In the average month, I am way below 30 downloads. However, there have been times when studios or scenes were announced as leaving SLR when I went way higher in an effort to grab what I could while it was available. Even though I don't use it on the regular, I still want the capability.

It sounds like doubleVR has a way to take that into account, so I think I'll be good.

doublevr You're still getting my monthly payment, it's just going to VRSpy instead of SLR. And it's a fact that monthly subscribers are better than lifetime ones in the long term, so I guess I'm on the bright side, huh? I don't have to agree with all the decision you make, unless you convince me. It's all Nash's content I care to watch on SLR anyway. I'll come back when he starts shooting PT for you. Otherwise, I'm happy with VRSpy. 😅

I think what most people are forgetting is that SLR is making a post to discuss issues on how they can make things work smoothly. I think they could have done a bit of a better job by saying "Hey there are some people clearly abusing these features and we don't like so here is what we propose".

You have some smooth brainers who immediately start sweating and swearing because they don't actually understand what's happening. In reality, SLR is a business and businesses like money. Customers give money, SLR wants customers happy so they get more money. I think they will make things work just fine for non abusing customers, while trying to weed out individuals who are trying to get a 100TB of content for $20 on a thumbdrive

I'm not going too use deovr when it works half as well as heresphere or whirligig, because I'm not fucking stupid.

I've never used those, are they good?
I always thought deoVR was like top of the line, but only had Playa to compare it to

Of course, it doesn't affect me right now since I don't have an active membership, and even after reducing it, it still won't. But like I mentioned in my first post here, SLR is taking baby steps compared to their counterparts. Eventually, we're heading towards zero downloads. That's what concerns me. It's why I'm currently hoarding VRBangers' entire library (scenes in 6k and above) as a lifetime subscriber, for goodness' sake.

I get the fear, I think zero downloads is a really really REALLY stupid thing. I don't think SLR will, and I think VRB will revert that decision.

Silly-Sausage dude I get being about consumer rights but I think you're overreacting on this one. It's nowhere near as bad as the VRBangers thing

                      xeddin1 spot on 💯

The last thing we want is to piss our loyal customers. We want to be super intelligent and targeted. Most of the users shouldn't notice a chance.

If you are a long term customer, regularly streaming in the app, have connected sex toy, tried PT your download limits are going to be much bigger than default ones.
