7 min watchtime of 1h long videos - Something must be wrong about it

It’s about time we figure out what to do if the video watchtime is around 5-7 min, then why would we deal with 1h videos? We are going to explore our options to segment videos. 50-90 sec Shorts sounds like a good start. Let’s see if we can beat TikTok on that.

i take it you can see what the best part of the clips are? 99 percent is all filler.

i am approaching a 100 uses on a taken down clip...95 percent of it on the last sex scene that lasts about 90 seconds. now you wouldn't be able to tell what the SELLING point of that scene is though.

again...WE need tipping on the clips where money can go to the producers/makers of these things....need to reward them and drive the point home about what is working and what is not...being the HOUSE? you get a cut of the proceeds....so it would be in best interest to get it going and it would be another REV source for the makers...maybe keep them longer? maybe get new ones?

I for one would enjoy shorter videos IF, and only IF, they were focused on things I liked. Maybe not seven minutes, but certainly 20 to 30 minutes like VR Edging. I generally watch the entire video, starting at about 5 minutes (I don't like the introductory stuff).

For example, instead of the performers going through every sexual position imaginable in each video, maybe they do only certain ones? I prefer cowgirl, BJs, and HJs. Other people like Missionary, doggie, and whatever.

I generally skip through the parts of the videos I don't like, so I might only watch 15 minutes of an hour long video. But I'd watch the whole think if it only had positions I liked.

Also, is that an average? Does it include when people watch a video for a few seconds and then they change it because they don't like it? So, if I watched thee videos, two for 30 seconds, and another for 30 minutes, that means I found one video that I liked and two I didn't like. It doesn't mean that I want to see only 7 minute videos.

Finally--don't you work for or manage SLR?

Some of your posts here are getting strange--almost as if you resent the members or want to provoke them.

To me that question sounds like "Why would we deal with JAV videos?" And these are already stream-only as it is. I'm not an IT guy, but if bandwidth and storage capacity is maxing out and that's driving these pushes to limits and shorter videos, then, as options - yes do explore with segmented videos ... as replacements, um- I would hope not.

Personally I don't use Tiktok nor like the new shorts feature on Youtube. But since this is being brought up, something must be wrong about something else, not about something that was not an issue the past 6 years.

I want to ask if it's possible to work with all JAV creators on SLR in establishing an English website so that we can access these hour-long videos in full and pay a subscription there if need be. That could help offload much from SLR if that's the concern. There used to be a link on every studio/creator page to their own websites, but that's not the case anymore.

And yes, I noticed that PetersPrimoVR is no longer with SLR. 😦

The studios who own the scenes decide this, not SLR.

The reason only 5-7 minutes is watched is people watch what they like, you need the hour videos to get a wide enough variety so enough people can get 7-8 minutes they want to see.

As usual any thread double starts with "why don't we" or "its about time we" will feature some next level dumbassory.

dojimmy Exactly, the few minutes that I watch, are not the same that some other ppl.
There is position, camera setting, action, that I like and other ppl don't.

Sometime I stay on the same video a long time and it's enough, sometime I have to switch few of them before finding what i want to see. But that don't mean the video I switch on won't be far enough for other ppl.

If you reduce video lenght, you can make the same post saying ppl only watch 1 minutes of a 15 minutes video.

ZENRA Thanks for bringing up that possibility. I figured they were axing small studios one by one thinking no one would know or care, with this thread as proof. CzechVRCasting is another one, even though it would seem compliant.

I'm not surprised if they would think something like "Surely no one watches any of these, let alone 5-7 minutes. Why stay on the site?" These small studios are why I subscribed, so it's saddening to see them go one by one.

Rakly3 As long as this doesn't lead to more unnecessary cuts and edits I'm fine with that. I fast-forward scenes all the time anyway. Could be actually helpful when done properly.

I don't know why you guys don't simply make a proper thread for stuff like this in which you present new concepts and stuff instead of these buzzword nonsense threads. I think a thread called "New feature: Interactive scenes in which you can fast-forward to certain positions" in which you explained how that is going to work (maybe even with a few screenshots and stuff...) would have been welcomed by the community while such a thread here is rather seen as another quick mind fart. Framing is everything...

abcrebel CzechVRCasting isn't a small studio. CzechVR is one of the most popular studios/networks and doesn't want/need SLR to sell their content.

abcrebel SLR wouldn't axe any studio because clips may not be popular. Content would only be removed if there was a compliance reason, a model takedown request, the studio requested it, or the studio wanted to entirely withdraw from SLR.

Fantastica, also recently got kicked into the Sandbox, if that's any indicator. I don't know what changed for that to happen, but a move like this, it's not hard to imagine they would be the first big JAV studio to get let go without having too big an impact, since based on the number of likes from new releases, less than 1% of users watch these. Percentages seem to be driving the changes around here now. I've been holding my peace all this time, but then this weird thread pops up. 😵🤔
