  • Only 8% of users re-watch at least 60 sec of the same videos in 2 month

Rakly3 And what happens if you only pay the studios for 10 minutes of streaming per month/user, after pushing the download users away? They earn much less money and won't offer their content anymore.

It doesn't matter to studios how you internally calculate your download and streaming times - they only care about the net result for providing you all the content and losing direct sales by doing that.

So you would ultimately have to raise the payment per streaming minute and won't keep the additional profit yourself. You only lose customers and push them to direct studio subscriptions, other aggregator sites or even piracy.

Piracy would be the worst case, because it doesn't only affect SLR but the VR porn market as a whole - that money is lost for the industry. But that's what happens if the industry fails to provide what the users want. They ask themselves why they should support an industry that doesn't want them.

At the end of the day, you only hurt your market share, by alienating a very active user group. The problem is that this user group is not only highly active in terms of downloads, but also in porn communities. And they will discourage new users from joining SLR. I doubt the saved bandwidth will cover that loss.

Rakly3 The average watch time is about 10 minutes.

Maybe quite a few people watch only a few minutes of a scene via streaming in order to find out whether the scene is worth downloading and afterwards they either download it or not?

So many possiblities and so little knowledge of how to properly interpret statistics around here...

Rakly3 “All empires fall eventually. It is the way of things.” Being a pioneer and market leader is a great opportunity, but a few wrong business decisions and you are the next AOL or Yahoo.

        LordCrash

It's not like we can't see the total watch time of users or amount of data they've used.
But what do I know, you seem to know the data, test cases and studies better than us. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

someoneX You keep on demonstrating your ignorance. Who says SLR is our main business?

          Rakly3
Maybe you (or your boss) should start a real thread with real data then instead of these bullshit threads with only two buzzwords connecting two single data points without any proof of correlation...

But what do I know, maybe these threads are great for your business, users seem to love them...

          Rakly3

Now your saying you know how many time we watch a scene we download, when many of us dont even use the slr or deo players to view downloads. If you actually think anyone here is buying that then your making it pretty obvious your main business is playing the fool on this forum.
          🤣 🤣 🤣

dojimmy Well, they do know how much data people are downloading, that's for sure.

But still, they're taking data and interpret something into it that might be there - or maybe not.

And I don't know which "studies" we speak about here, I never heard of any such study and I've been watching VR porn for years and I've been active on such porn forums for years.

Yeah I feel like we're at the Netflix-level of looking at stats and drawing wild conclusions, resulting in cancelling great shows just because it wasn't binge viewed enough within the first two days, shit like that.

Rakly3 The average watch time is about 10 minutes.

Like this is not enough to mean anything, there's no context, is it even interpreted right? There are lots of reasons why that might be the number for avg watch time.

            • Is that 10mins for a full "session" or only per scene? I.E. are people not simply watching shorter good parts of multiple scenes in a row for much longer than 10mins?
            • Does this include guest viewers? (who can only watch a short preview trailer iirc?).
              • Or downloaders who just check to see if a scene is broken, weirdly scaled or actually worthy of a download?
              • Even stream-users will browse, scan and skip from clip to clip to see if it's worth watching, lowering averages because of high quantity, low quality library...
            • Wouldn't a percentage of total scene duration be a better stat? Like how much of a % is the avg watch time of the total length of scenes (Some great studios have shorts scenes like StripsVR, StasyQVR that are usually 10mins or less)

I don't expect to get answers here but really the random "stats" being posted are severely lacking in detail to make any kind of conclusions, plus the graphs I've seen are either really badly made or downright misleading, or at least misrepresented to support a bias view. Just because you have some analytics data doesn't mean you're a statistical data analyst (well maybe SLR has hired one by now). So not to be insulting but really everything you guys are posting needs to be taken with a truckload of salt and a healthy dose of scepticism.

Obviously the majority are really casual users but every service is going to have that and overall it should balance out. Saying a downloader is using 10x vs an average user just shows the odd comparisons going on... I dunno it seems you're all looking at stats without fully understanding them and have been slowly turning hostile to the high-end users, whom are very likely the same people who have been subbed from the start. It's not a good look. And what's the end goal of it all, you can't be expecting the more hardcore fans to take up casual behavior? Even at a couple hours/month that's just not worth it the admission price.

Rakly3 Streaming 10 minutes = 10 minutes of download data.
Downloading a video = watching entire video in data.

That's not the right context to see things. Has absolutely nothing to do with downloads, but new format of how we structure video. I believe the future of SLR is more into TikTok kinda things.

Full length videos are not going anywhere. It's just that we will try to cut them into more exciting format

Rakly3 did you say an 1 hour video downloaded is the equalivant of 10 mins streaming? You do understand an 1 hour makes up for 6 views of streaming. 1 stream = 10 mins?

'Objectively' you just said a person likes a video for only 6 times? You don't know that. When your online 'you' should know streaming is downloading. When you download offline you view the video many tIme without downloading.

Rakly you are just twisting an illusion someone 'only' watches a video 6 times which is wrong. The hypocrisy here is you're making a scenario to fit your agender and arguement - as well as degrade the communiy again. Did you ask a person how many times they watch a video or you doing political red tape?

I have watched a good movie more than your so called 6 times. Which you inply the community. Rakly if I will ask the comunnity for you. How many times have you watched your fav vr porn movie?

If the community says more than 6 times you're wrong and really made a huge judgemental assumption. I view my favorite porn 100 times, so that would be at least 10 full downloads of data - which I could download for only 1 full movie.

                Punksxc

                i have a few in the 30-50 range...one approaching a 100

mostly because finding NEW stuff that WORKS is pretty frigging hard. so need to scan the new stuff and fall back on the GO-TO's over and over.

doublevr Oh my lord. Now you're going to cut up vieos into 10-minute segments to become the TikTok of porn instead of the Netflix of porn? You do realize that TikTok is braindead lowest common denominator trash, right?

Btw - we already have cut up, short versions of porn vids - they are called previews, and we don't have to pay for a sub for that.

Will65 yes there is 10 mins preview on tube sites. Which makes the cut video streaming a complete joke. SLR are mostly sinking there own ship or close to it.

I’m guessing what we’re interpreting from this is different from what is actually meant from someone whose English isn’t always the clearest. No offense to anyone - I can only speak/write English - so props to anyone that’s attempting communication outside their native tongue, but in these instances I think it’s causing more confusion than is needed. It would be nice if these random “how about we do this” threads would stop, and SLR hire a professional public relations person that makes these announcements with all proper context on an official blog in much clearer language.

                    doublevr

This is a prime example of "penny wise pound foolish"

Bruh, this isn't the way to increase revenue. And every single person on this forum are one of the paying contributors, so that should be a pretty big hint as to how off your mindset/perspective is. You can't eliminate piracy. Companies and stars much bigger than you or I have tried. What you can do is work to provide better service and product and make it easier and more beneficial for folks to use your service.

By the way, I download my favorite scenes merely because it's easier to watch saved content than streamed content. There is no lag on downloaded content, and you have much better control of browsing through your own content.

And like others have stated, most of us here pay out of principal, because we want to reward and take care of people who provide a product and service that we enjoy. And even if I didn't want to do that, and I was a dishonest, selfish weasel, it'd still be much preferable to subscribe here in order to browse through and search for content in order to find what I like.

                    Just my .02

couldn't download the shit out of SLR even if i tried, with your recently introduced download limit your site has seemingly introduced an artificial download speed limit as well !

while other sites let me download at speeds varying from 50mb/s to 110mb/s downloads from SLR are limited to 8mb/s !
i tried using a download manager but somehow it only makes things worse, very strange.

but guess what i can stream videos at the highest quality without any issues whatsoever ! what a coincidence !

Admin edit: had to fix Suck part for you

SuckNickname with your recently introduced download limit your site has seemingly introduced an artificial download speed limit as well !

                      Nope

SuckNickname i tried using a download manager but somehow it only makes things worse, very strange.

Might be worth checking their site for how to use it or adjust the settings/options.

I really don't understand the point in all this. Lets say SLR has 10,000 or 100,000 customers but the forum has 50 people that participate. These same 50 people are your customer voice on all the other forums like reddit. Why in the world would you start a fight with these 50 people over and over?
