wmfewmgkqoozlnzmnn The other two people didnt agree with you... but I am a hoarder exactly as you describe (I also have a recklessly large record collection)
Only 8% of users re-watch at least 60 sec of the same videos in 2 month
Some solutions I see here are just terrible, like 1 download a day and incremental increase only if you do it everyday..? Wtf who has the time to daily come to SLR to download? And why are we coming up with more timers, delays and limitations? Especially when apparently the downloaders are a minority? At this point I wonder if there even are any "heavy users" because it's not like ~150 downloads/month is realistically possible for most people (that's 5 times in a month 30 downloads every 6 days with current timer).
I understand there has to be a monthly download limit so you can't just sign up for 1 month and download 1000 files, that's totally fine. My issue with the new limitations is the long duration of waiting time. I don't always have time for watching and/or downloading VR scenes sometimes for a week or 2-3. Which means for some months I only get like 30 at most. I don't want to be forced to do this shit weekly, it'd be much better if it was just a clear cut x-amount p/month, it was 300 with the 72h, now 150 but only if you're on top of it when the timers reset. In any case can we just let people download whenever they have the time please?
LordCrash Option A: Streaming only for e.g. 20 bucks/month
Option B: Streaming + high quality downloads (high res, high bitrate, fast server) for e.g. 30 bucks/month
I really hope this doesn't happen as I don't see why we should have to pay extra for using less resources/bandwidth than the streaming users. Most VR sites just offer downloads, imo it's the streaming that's the premium thing on SLR in addition to the downloads every other site offers. If anything streaming is the more costly thing, maintaining servers, re-encoding for stream qualities, app development, etc.
Personally it's already fairly pricey for me with the world economy going to shit recently everything has been getting more expensive. I've considered requesting the reduced fee thing they posted on the blog, but I'm already on a lower price from years ago so it's still doable for now, I think it'd probably get denied anyway lol.
Rakly3 When it comes to abuse, downloading the limit of what is allowed is not seen or treated as abuse by us. Meaning, the change in download limit is not because of abuse. The Fair Use aspect is something different. Fair Use, in this context is about other users.
This sounds odd, fair use in context about other users? How is downloading at all related to other users? The only way I can think of is network/bandwidth usage. But streaming uses way more so that can't be it... I really dislike how I keep seeing nonsensical reasons to justify increasingly annoying limitations.
Rakly3 The more you stream them, the more they get paid.
SLR has contractual obligations towards the content creators. Accurate payouts are one of them.
THIS however... I think we're finally getting to the bottom of why all this is happening. I guess SLR doesn't have contracts with creators set up in a way that take downloads in consideration well enough? So rather than adjusting the contracts-issue the "downloading members" are essentially seen as the problem instead. Is that why we continuously get worse limitations, in an attempt to force more people to stream instead? If so this would mean it's a plain bully-people-towards-streaming campaign. That would be messed up but I think it fits the general attitude tbh.
Regardless I don't understand why there's such a war on downloaders as your own data shows downloading members are a minority which would mean it's a minor or even non-issue. Even if all downloading members were to suddenly give up and go streaming it would be like a drop in the bucket kind of change.
I hope SLR will come to the realization sooner rather than later that streaming at least for a subset of members will never be a good enough option regardless of whatever limitations you put on us to try and get us to switch. This isn't exactly like Netflix, some of us will just always want to have local files as well. Some want it just for favorite scenes, some for local streaming quality, using XBVR and other players, etc. Streaming is a nice addition to have but downloads will always be wanted as well, perhaps soon it can just coexist without the annoying timers.
Premium tier and regular tier. Problem solved.
Whole lot of discussion here. It’s hard to know what lies at the heart of all this - what exactly is motivating what - but I hope that wise people in the know are absorbing all of these vastly differing points of view to create the best experience for the widest numbers of faithful subscribers and maximizes the full potential of this great VR Porn provider. And that is the last I’m going to say on this one. It’s definitely a big topic.

I can, right now, very easily, download absolutely anything and everything on this site at a moment's notice from torrent sites. The only reason I paid for a subscription on this site was:
- To support SLR Originals, which were the highest quality and best shot immersive GFE in the industry. Emphasis on WERE, as they have moved away from that pretty strongly - and to their detriment.
- To support the excellent scripting being done by SLR scripters. This is still great, and seems to be improving in volume.
It is worth it to me to pay to support these things, and download my videos from here instead.
If SLR were to continue to restrict downloads - or eliminate them - this site would instantly not be worth it. Why in the world would I want to give my money to a site that treats its paying customers this way, and openly lies to and mocks their customers in open forums? I'm not sure if the boss or the community managers quite realize the level of technical expertise of the majority of folks that are so invested in VR that we spend a lot of time on these boards, but I promise you that it is higher than you think. Manipulative arguments, cherry picked data, poorly presented graphs (with nonsensical comparisons), and locking threads when you are losing an argument don't impress us. I won't suffer from cancelling if this happens - you will. I will still be able to get all the porn I want, and I can spend the saved SLR subscription monies contracting with scripters to script my favorites. The only that changes for me is where the money is going. You don't seem to uinderstand how many people are paying you simply out of good will, as we can easily obtain your product free. And please, don't go on about how you're going to stop piracy. People have been trying to stop piracy since the inception of the floppy disk, and no one has managed it yet. Most have only accomplished what you are doing: pissing off your paying customers while not impacting the non-paying customers even a little.
I do not for the life of me understand why you continue to push customers away as hard as you can. The people paying you are not your enemy.
IF you find a video that you really like and use? you better frigging download it or have the name of it to find later...you never know when the credit card companies are going to ask for a NEW round of cuts and all your favorite use clips are going to be gone.
think i downloaded about a hundred clips last year after that happened. i probably watch 3.
even if downloaded? i will still stream it if on the site.

It's not only for downloads but better quality downloads that apparently require special encoding. Right now the downloads are simple for the tuned down streaming files. I'd gladly pay extra for being able to use the site to its full potential and for maximum quality. I understand that this is an issue for other people on a tighter budget but then again I'm talking about an enthusiast option for a completely luxury item/service here.
if they need more resources and money...raise the rate up.

The average watch time is about 10 minutes.
The average video length is over 1h
Streaming 10 minutes = 10 minutes of download data.
Downloading a video = watching entire video in data.
So, let's say the average user watches about 1 hour per month in streaming data.
vs someone who downloads 50, or 100 videos in the same month. That's 50 to 150 months worth of SLR for the other user.
Aerowen But streaming uses way more so that can't be it...
No they don't, see reply above your quote.
Please don't take this as insulting, it is not meant like that.
But you are arguing with wrong assumptions.

Rakly3 And what happens if you only pay the studios for 10 minutes of streaming per month/user, after pushing the download users away? They earn much less money and won't offer their content anymore.
It doesn't matter to studios how you internally calculate your download and streaming times - they only care about the net result for providing you all the content and losing direct sales by doing that.
So you would ultimately have to raise the payment per streaming minute and won't keep the additional profit yourself. You only lose customers and push them to direct studio subscriptions, other aggregator sites or even piracy.
Piracy would be the worst case, because it doesn't only affect SLR but the VR porn market as a whole - that money is lost for the industry. But that's what happens if the industry fails to provide what the users want. They ask themselves why they should support an industry that doesn't want them.
At the end of the day, you only hurt your market share, by alienating a very active user group. The problem is that this user group is not only highly active in terms of downloads, but also in porn communities. And they will discourage new users from joining SLR. I doubt the saved bandwidth will cover that loss.

Rakly3 The average watch time is about 10 minutes.
Maybe quite a few people watch only a few minutes of a scene via streaming in order to find out whether the scene is worth downloading and afterwards they either download it or not?
So many possiblities and so little knowledge of how to properly interpret statistics around here...

Maybe you (or your boss) should start a real thread with real data then instead of these bullshit threads with only two buzzwords connecting two single data points without any proof of correlation...
But what do I know, maybe these threads are great for your business, users seem to love them...
dojimmy Well, they do know how much data people are downloading, that's for sure.
But still, they're taking data and interpret something into it that might be there - or maybe not.
And I don't know which "studies" we speak about here, I never heard of any such study and I've been watching VR porn for years and I've been active on such porn forums for years.
