What improvements will we see in the visuals as a result of using this camera compared with the camera's you use mow ?
What does it was specifically designed to shoot Apple immersive video for AVP implicate? Can it be used to shoot educational videos for Q3 or not?
So, what does a 16k camera really do for the end result? Unless I am mistaken, a headset can only display 8k.
xeddin1 A return to bad camera angles
xeddin1 But the camera is recording 180x180 degrees, while your headset most likely will display roughly only 110x100 degrees (of course depending on the specific headset). So an 16k cam would be about perfect for an 8k headset.
And even then, remember that the resulting image is being rendered, not copied. So even going from say an 16k to 20k cam would still improve the result on an 8k headset, because there's more info to make a better rendered image. But yeah after that I guess it will become harder and harder to see the difference on an 8k headset.
Glokta Better start saving up for one of those new 2x4k headsets coming up this year! Especially Samsung's Project Moohan looks like it's going to be the ultimate porn device! Higher res than the AVP, even better colors and the PT cam streams available to developers, so PT assured. Should be available about end of this year. So the timeline with SLR getting their new cam lines up quite nicely And cheaper than the AVP although it won't be cheap of course ... Probably around $2000
Does anybody know what the scaling looks like before everybody just goes out and buys this thing. If the scaling is bad I don't care how good the picture looks. Great looking giants just doesn't do it for me.
rerun119 Was wondering the same thing long ago, couldn't find any info about its IAD "Inter Axial Distance" (the distance between the left and right lenses, similar to IPD when it comes to human eyes).
I don't know if it's even adjustable too. Hopefully, it is.
I also hope we're not getting another Canon RF 5.2mm scenario, which was awful when it comes to accurate scaling.
Actually, I heard Cannon will create a new VR Cam with adjustable IAD in the future. Hopefully all VR Camera manufacturers fellow suite.
fenderwq Yes, although Canon RF 5.2mm is not the best to work with, but it was a big deal in its time because of its use of a single sensor that can provide 8K @60FPS with very high bitrate.
VR Porn Studios in particular, was using 2 different cameras at that time to achieve high resolutions of 7K+
The high resolution single sensor in the Canon RF 5.2mm simplified the process of capturing 8K stereoscopic videos, as both sides now have perfectly matched alignment, color grading, brightness and focus. Unlike when using 2 different cameras.
Example, watch some trailers of VirtualTaboo Studio released in 2021-2022 and you'll notice these issues, especially the blurry left or right side of the stereoscopic video (difference in focus which will give you an awful left or right eyestrain) because of their use of 2 different cameras to reach higher resolution.
The biggest issue with Canon RF 5.2mm was its fixed lens IPD distance or more accurately IAD (Inter Axial Distance) @60mm which results in characters and objects looked larger than real life scale.
As you know, when the VR Camera IAD is more than 64mm, characters and objects will look smaller than real life scale (hyperstereo).
And if the VR Camera IAD is less than 64mm, characters and objects will look larger than real life scale (hypostereo).
Anyway, Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive is a big deal in the VR world, especially with its perfectly calibrated dual 8K sensors @90FPS. It's a real milestone. This is why you see many Studios are extremely happy about it like SLR.
Its size is reasonable with all the packed tech and storage in addition to power consumption (its power supply alone is freaking 250W) which needs the best heat dissipation possible, also, to be more rugged for harsh environments, especially the industrial/ hot ones. Hopefully it can be suitable and easy to use/ handle for POV VR Porn as well.
Best Regards.
Really excited for this and I'm sure the sharpness will be next level. But like someone mentioned hope the scaling will be correct. Most 8k studios have overblown scaling and less res correctly scaled videos are more immersive.

Is this why some VR live streams (dreamcam, SLR) have a difference in focus or colour between the 2 lenses? Maybe just older generation VR livecams or all
The hardware of the VR livecams are super difficult to find
