I never paired my q2 before, what all can you do when it's paired to the phone?

Finally got mine today... I actually should have had it yesterday but UPS fucked up but what can you do.

Anyway my general first impression is positive. It's a step up in clarity of the image for sure but it's most noticeable in menus, games, etc. VR porn feels a bit more crisp but the effect is small. However the improved FOV was immediately apparent to me in VR porn and while the scuba diving feeling is not entirely gone it's really evident for me that the FOV is larger. I like that.

Pass-trough which I guess is one of the reasons most people upgrade. Well it's a powerful experience for sure. I dig it and the fact that your room appears in color are light years better than Quest 2's grey scale. It is more grainy though than I expected. Furthermore I think the fact that it's in colors now then it somehow makes the current issues of AR porn stand out more. For example an issue I encountered is that most videos feels like that unless I bend my neck 90 degrees while laying in bed instead of laying comfortable with my head resting on my pillow, well then the floating cock appears in my lower abdomen, instead of where my dick actually is. So I have to zoom out - always. Next issue is that when I finally get the model aligned then just a bit of a tilt of my head an the model shifts a tiny bit. It's annoying. Scale is also an issue that becomes very apparent in AR porn - with the exception of the latest SLR scenes then most scenes features giants. It's unwatchable in my book and I wouldn't be surprised that if those scenes were people first impression of AR porn, well they would call AR porn an abomination. Finally any scene without the male actor in a suit is useless for me. I already had it like that in the Quest 2 but in the Quest 3, well I can't watch those scenes. I don't see the point and I rather just watch a regular VR scene instead.

That said I think AR porn has the potential to really revolutionize this media as when you get it right there in the sweet spot, yeah it's just so engaging and thrilling. I do feel though there some way to go yet in needed improvements and we for sure need a far larger library in AR scenes from different studios and different performers.

    ernesto90354 I have extremely good eyesight (knock on wood) and I can tell you the Q3 gets you most of the way to the Crystal when it comes to current VR porn. I found the Crystal's "QLED" to be overhyped and the colors to be almost as washed out as any other LCD. They're closer to HP reverb LCD colors than they are nice OLED colors. So that micro OLED grail is really what we need as color contrast/saturation has its own depth and detail enhancing effect outside of what raw resolution gives you.

    Also, while on paper the Crystal's PPD is listed as 35 versus 25 with the Q3, I'm really skeptical of this measurement because the FOV struck me as noticeably larger than the Q2, thus stretching those 2880x2880 panels out considerably.

    Now, there still is a resolution difference, and the screen door effect is less noticeable but not gone. Anyone saying 2.8k per eye has gotten rid of the SDE either has bad eyesight or simply unobservant. While not a glaring problem like on the Quest 2 level, you can spot it on background in white heavy scenes. If it's there's then, it's there always, just less noticeable on darker backgrounds.

    Conclusion: buy the Crystal maybe if you're a sim fan, but it's a waste of money solely for porn.

    ernesto90354 Yeah, exactly. Realistic resolution and detail beats "realistic distance" every day of the week. I'm not saying there shouldnt be any shots from the actor's head level, but they should quickly transition those closer to the woman's face/body. I'm referring to things like standing doggy that for me are boring AF from the actor's vantagepoint, sitting reverse cowgirl that's often too far away, and facials/cumshots should be closer. Even missionary when they go from a mile away to close. They should keep the close clip but ditch the distant one for somewhere in between. I realize this height might be uncomfortable for the male actor from a camera placement perspective but are you more worried about his comfort than the quality of the film? Ok, soapbox over

      Use horizontal off set to increase and decrease image. + is for bigger - is for smaller

      And turn on 6dof, the switch is usually on but you got slide the slider all the way to the right.

      Imo best way to explore pt at first is in a laying position watching laying cg rcg. 👍

        are there any IMAGE settings on the RIGHT of the clips to HELP with out-of-the-box washed-out image?

          You go to the settings at the deo menu, look for player controls and look for "pitch" in the list, click on it and press up and then click the green check

            OliverDK horizontal off set is in the image options in case you can't find it.

            You gonna want to use the + and - instead to the slider.

            So example
            If the model looks to small, go to horizontal off set and click + one time, look at the model, still to small? Click the + again. That works for me.

            I use pt for the scale too for regular vrp, if it looks to small or big, I turn on pt and I use falloff in the pt options and adjust the scale with horizontal offset and then turn pt off. Move the "fall off" to the left so the video is transparent.

              You talking about switching from 4k to 8k?

              When you watching a video on the player on the left corner of it there's different numbers you can select, the top # is the highest, just click on them what ever one you like just leave it there.

                  so I found a black dead pixel on my Quest 3 and I can't unsee it because its right in my eye line and my eyes keep focussing on it. I am returning it and getting another one. Anybody else get a similar issue with theirs?

                    Ventriloquist_Tacos everyone’s entitled to their opinion obviously but I couldn’t disagree more with this. Nothing ruins a scene more for me than the camera giving me a view that is physically impossible to achieve in real life. It completely throws me out of the scene if it feels like my dick is 6 inches below my chin. Realistic distance and scale are more important to me than crystal clear visuals. Ideally we should be getting both though.

                    You can achieve close up shots realistically in cowgirl and missionary but doggy style, blow jobs etc should be a realistic distance from the average person’s eyeline. That’s my opinion anyway, each to his own though.

                    theHobbit not noticed any issue with mine yet. There is a YouTube review earlier in the thread or maybe the thread in POVR forum where the reviewer had a dead pixel so maybe it’s a common fault.
