So i think maybe i just don't have the right setup for passthrough, but on my Quest 2 it's just like a black and white grainy projection of my surroundings. Usually on those scenes i just turn the passthrough off and watch it like a normal VR with a green background

RealcumberScripts I see that you script every PT scene right away. Is it because it is easier to script or is it because you make more money on those scenes or both? I really wish they didn't exist so we could have your precious time on the nash scenes. I'll watch them 5 times if that helps the numbers.

Will65 I don't understand why we bother with it

I never cared about the surroundings being grainy b/w, especially when the lighting is dim. It is sufficient for my brain to make the PT experience work and for that I do not need to see myself or my chambers in all their glory. I am actually wondering whether clear color PT would still work for me, as it might bother me more if the video and background colors won't match well.

rerun119 RealcumberScripts Not only do I completely avoid it, I can't watch it anyways. I have a Pimax 8KX. It doesn't have PT. I bought a Pimax to get the best possible VR immersion.

I'm not sure why you wouldnt or can't still watch it normally though - the scene is still a regular shot scene - you dont need to watch it in Passthrough, you can just watch it with its regular background can you not?
I have a Pimax 5K+ and it plays perfectly fine without Passthrough, so Im surprised to hear you would still avoid even watching it without Passthrough enabled, hence why I figured PT covers both fan bases (for the most part)

rerun119 - Passthrough ones are almost always under 45/50 minutes long, way faster to script than the 1hr, 1hr 30+ that the Alex Nash ones usually are

Also Passthrough shot scenes seem to usually allow more easier unobstructed views of penetration for less tedious scripting

Any and all (streaming) watch time helps though to see what numbers make more sense to focus on - if you are watching offline then unfortunately those views would not apply

        Look at it this way:

A master bedroom in a nice house with plenty of natural ambient light
        vs
An ugly, bare, unappealing green or grey box that looks almost like a prision cell and is lit with artificial light

It shouldn't be surprising that these PT scenes are a big downgrade compared to regular non-PT scenes, for customers who aren't interested in PT. There is more to a good scene than just the girl.

Hairsational A master bedroom in a nice house with plenty of natural ambient light

          Exactly.

For visuals to make the jump from 3D porn to an artificial (virtual) reality, the mind requires immersion in the scene. This is why I keep harping that you guys are moving away from VR and just shooting flat porn in 3D. It's about the experience, not just "naked chick in whatever environment".

It seems to me that you all are over-engaged with the technical side of VR and not up to speed on the perceptual and emotional component that makes it great. Take a look at this paper (written by my colleagues):

The impact of perception and presence on emotional reactions: a review of research in virtual reality

Suspension of disbelief is key to achieving the immersion necessary to achieve presence and emotional engagement. Otherwise, it is just 3D porn. As any advertising exec (or psychologist) will tell you, it is the emotional experience that makes the sale and hooks customers, not the tech.

RealcumberScripts I could watch it with a gray prison wall look with "pretend me" being in a gray suit. It' going to be hard to convince me that there are a lot of people that would want to watch that over say ALL the other scenes with a real house in the background.
I also noticed today that you get double the scripting for the PT scenes now that they are adding a digital background and adding them as a new release. That is a smart move on your end. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Everybody at SLR gets a two for one now. In the SLR meeting, PT must look like the greatest business idea since sliced bread.

Again this could be fixed if SLR spent their time and money on removing the backgrounds like they said they were going to do instead of adding backgrounds. I know this has nothing to do with your decision making.
