  • Help SLR Originals nailing down the angles consistently

Philip I'm on a quest to standardize shooting angles across our many production.

Porn by numbers is bad. Let the directors simply do their thing, please. Not everything has to be standardized and it actually shouldn't be. Standardization is the death of creativity and the so valuable magic usually dies first. By making everything similar you usually make everything mediocre for everyone, it's a lowest common denominator approach that always fails. People have different opinions, expectations, fantasies, perceptions. There is no way to make everyone happy with every scene, so simply allow different approaches and different ways of shooting stuff. VRfanservice do their thing and Alex Nash does his thing and so on. They're all unique and that's actually a really good thing. Let them learn from each other but please, don't standardize anything.

      Cool idea! I'll try my hand at it. I'm mixing a few of the 190 fisheye Originals and the 200 fisheye Originals though. Let me know if you prefer just one or the other.

      45 degree Reclined Seated POV works best for cowgirl IMO.
      If the recline is too steep, then the FOV shrinks too much.
      If the recline is too shallow, then it's almost like laying down POV but not as good.
      Both the recent Kenna/Skye and the ACC/Bella were good examples of 45~ degrees:

      Close-Up Missionary, well Nash is the master of that. There were some points in time (a year ago), where the position was too close, or too above, but those have been worked out and things have become super consistent nowadays.

      Laying down Cowgirl. I'm going to deviate a bit away from Master Nash, and say I actually really like VRFanservice's laying down angle in this scene. This may not be the best screenshot of this, but there is a lot of headroom in this shot, and there were moments in this scene where the performers could lean all the way forward and do "hoverface" cowgirl, which is when their faces are leaning super close, and hovering above the viewer's face. I think in order to achieve this, the camera needs to be very low and angled slightly upwards. The male nipples/torso still need to be in view of course, but the key is to have that ample headroom for ultra close lean-ins.

      My rule of thumb as long as the males upper chest is in the frame that's a good camera position.

NA imo has been the best at showing off the strengths of the specific model's body.

          Why on Earth would you want to standardize shooting positions. Scenes are cookie cutter enough already. The scenes that work for me show angles that I don't see all the time. I know it's not for everyone, but I like when a director figures out how to combine non-POV with POV. I like (occasionally) when I can see the cumshot up close when the female takes it on the face or in the mouth. Seems like almost every scene starts off with the female on her knees, then he goes in for some DATY, then corgirl, missionary and finally cumshot. C'mon. You can do better. Mix it up.

            @Philip I’ll work to throw in screenshots later. I’m a fan of Nash’s girl/girl intermissions midway through his scenes. I enjoy the pussy closeups and facesitting scenarios. Especially if there isn’t too much moaning fakery from the girl. Pleasure on her face is more than sufficient here.

            Typically though all Nash does is throw the girls into 69 with the top girls ass in our face. I’d like to see that get changed up.             Speaking generally, I’d hate things to just turn into checklist cookie cutter formula though. NA already does that and it’s become so predictable — sex should never be predictable. By all means create some best practice guidelines for key moments, but please don’t become formulaic in the process.

            Here’s the NA formula for their Friday scenes. Scene setting > guy enters > tease > BJ > (seated front CG > seated rear CG)x3 > (laying front CG > laying rear CG)x3 … and on and on… every scene every time. Don’t become slaves to templates and checklists. Surprise can go a very long way.

                            One import general remark about positions is to be able to match the perspective of the scene with reality and align your body to that of the male performer. When this is done well it will feel far more immersive and natural. When it's done badly it's really hard to get a feeling that your in the scene and not watching something on a screen.

                            I think every position should be checked with something like a quest pro with the passthrough on 50% opacity. Can I match the perspective (align the floor with my room) and still sit, lie down, etc. and match my body to the actor? Can I do this while having my body in a relaxed natural position? Is the size of "my" body correct, are my legs roughly at the same size and is my virtual dick at the right place 🤣?

                            I still see this going wrong all the time (it might be hard due to males having heads and all 😅) but imo this is the foundation for a good angle. I still often find positions where you cannot match the perspective: without breaking your neck, whithouth looking in the world at a strange angle, without being like a drone hovering just above the head of the male or when you match the floor your body is almost underneath you, etc.
                            Another thing that you'll often see is that the male body is in the wrong position relative to the origin of the camera. E.g. your body in the scene is to small, your head is not where it should be, the up down angle in relation to your body is unnatural or even impossible.

                            I think the SLR Originals are doing a pretty good job at this most of the time. But there are also times that it can be improved. Still, doing a "passthrough check" like mentioned in the above is essential imo.

                              fenderwq youre right and thats another area that could be improved. the up-down position of the camera relative to the body as well as the forward-back position need to look believable for maximum immersion. sometimes in standing positions the camera is too far forward of the body.

                                  Philip I don't want that. I want a greater variety of positions, not one standard format. It gets boring. It would be nice to have the positions work better for immersion. To me, nothing breaks immersion more than a poorly shot scene of the woman coming in for a kiss and you can clearly see her kissing and tonguing air about 6 inches from where my face should be. I also wish directors would give us guys some credit, does a woman's fake moans and constant "oh that's sooooo big", etc. is a total turn off. Better they say nothing.

                                        Agree 100%. Different angles are good at different things. There is usually a trade-off between intimacy and showing off the body. The angles that are good at intimacy often zoom in the performer's faces and have them leaning in. However, this distorts the body or tucks the performer's legs away.

                                        This is why it's important to have longer videos that feature multiple angles in the same sex positions. People will be able to enjoy the scene no matter what their preference is.

                                        Personally, I like to appreciate the performer's bodies while also getting a clear view of their faces. So I like to see a mix of the angles below:

I use to have an HTC vive and had to move my head around to see everything. I've had a Pimax 8kx for about 6 months now. You can see everything that you do IRL so you just have to move your eyes. I think this plays a part in the old camera new camera debate too. Just a thought one your screen shots.

                                                                      I would prefer creativity over consistency. It also depends on the girl - you should try to catch her most interesting parts and those are not the same for every girl. Even the body size can require slightly different angles.

                                                                      As an engineer who has designed many algorithms to cater to the VOC (voice of the customer). Best way to do this.... There should be certain angles/distances you avoid entirely (i.e either not realistic/immersive at all or distance is just too far or too close) and then a RANGE of acceptable distances. So each position essentially should have an acceptance range. Ill give a few general examples: For instance lean back cowgirl can be incredible when shot right or terrible when the girls face and body are too far back and get blurred/fuzzy. You also dont usually the girls head when she is riding the guy all the way at the tip top of the lense sight field . That kills immersion (unless its specifically for a short time for boob smothering/slapping and or to stare at her torso/belly while gyrating on your cock).

                                                                      Another key to this: always keep in mind with each and every angle what is the purpose of that angle. For instance, If its intimacy you want to be able to have a close look into her eyes face. Having the ability to see all key parts of the body most of the time and feel like its totally realistic is critical (even if you might occasionally need to tilt up or down depending on position).

                                                                      Also in that acceptance range is going to be really focused on (no pun intended) getting the camera angles /distances in positions that would be the same in real life in those positions. As others have attested, Doggy is a huge example of this one. When this is dead on you really feel like you are right in that position, when it isn't it feels a bit surreal and that you are not really in the scene.

                                                                      Pussy close ups should have two ideal sets of viewing distances: 1. Where you get a perfect view of her beautiful snatch and then (not too close where you are going cross eyed) 2. One where you truly feel like you are tasting her. This can be mixed together too if the girl goes a bit back and forth within a specified range.
