Problem is, SLR treats AV1 Codec as a "miracle" or something for an "obvious reason".
But almost everyone here forgets that when it comes to 180°+ VR Video format, everything is "magnified" so to speak, so every bit of resolution, frame rate and color depth counts.
Guys, you need to IGNORE the AV1 PAPER Specs that's MOSTLY described the Flat videos, they mean NOTHING when it comes to VR Video format, at least according to my recent tests and comparisons, In other words the HEVC vs AV1 is meaningless in terms of everything, especially the bitrate.
Whatever codec you use, you need to be reasonable and adjust the correct value when encoding the VR Video depending on the Resolution, Frame rates, Color depth and movement objects, elements and particles in the real life action, CGI or AI video to have an acceptable visual quality.
I know I'm sounding like a broken record now, but that's the only way to go for VR Videos. This is why I hate it when SLR or anyone describe them as "High Bitrate" THEY ARE NOT high bitrate.
They are "Reasonable/ Acceptable" bitrate when it comes to High resolution VR Videos, and they should be available for everyone as part of their subscription plan.
We subscribed for High quality VR Videos, not for garbage quality that can be watched for free everywhere or an "acceptable quality" that's hidden behind ANOTHER PAY WALL.
For me, I'll stick to my guns and refuse to be fooled by this, I always do with anything in both real life and virtual one.
Now it's up yo you guys to raise your standards or keep being fooled and have garbage quality videos, dumb video formats and ***** casting and direction.
All the best.
