I'm not saying this to complain, but a low bitrate creates compression artifacts and smooths the image, giving that blurry impression. You shouldn't just watch frame by frame and tune until you find the right "acceptable" setting compared to the master. You also have to take the movement of the images into consideration. I mean, in VR, you have your eyes glued to the screen and you see every imperfection. I don't think other studios are idiots who waste their storage offering high-bitrate videos. There's a reason, and it's the immersive quality of seeing details like skin and others.

You're below 30 Mbps for some of your latest videos. You're also now removing the only alternative to downloading the masters. So please increase the bitrate of your videos to at least 50 Mbps for normal downloads. You make great videos, and it's a waste to blur everything. It's like a painter who does a detailed painting and throws water over it at the end blurring all the work.

To give you an example, ARPorn offered low-bitrate videos before and a lot of people complained, so they went up to 70 mbt/s of birate and even introduced 10-bit color. Consumer feedback is taken into consideration, and it's nice to be listened to and not taken for complainers. Just because everyone doesn't say anything doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
Some people don't know or have never had the opportunity to compare. In 2008 we watched blurry 4k videos and were happy with it because we had never experienced better, but once you know it's hard to go back to 4K.

To give you an example of the last ARPorn's video specs and I can give many other examples of different studios :

Are the PPV HBR Downloads live or not yet?

You are basing your observation on the eyes of the people in charge of internal production who could be wrong. There is a limit where we would not see the difference in the bitrate but it is better to be slightly above it than below. Below 30 mb/s is perhaps acceptable for you but not for the eyes of some of your consumers. The only eyes capable of giving an accurate opinion are those of your customers. As I said then the other studios are idiots to offer videos above 50 mb/s and the customers are blind. Don't worry, I will not post at all anymore, I'm wasting my time.

Edit : You know, I'm a developer and an expert in my job, but I sometimes I wrong. It's hard sometimes for my ego, but I'm improving myself, and if I still believe the client is wrong, I make an effort because they're the ones paying me.

doublevr No impact? just look at these gradients. There is a HUGE impact. Also if there is no impact why are you gonna sell hbr video?

    compared to 75mb/s ar porn

doublevr We’re excited to share that AV1 video playback is officially live

I've noticed image quality looks better! Is this cuz the av1?

fenderwq Also if there is no impact why are you gonna sell hbr video?

This is a great point that I have seen you make a couple of times.
If there is NO difference between the Master and the one we can download Then why would the AV1 be worth anything? There shouldn't be a difference, right?

Problem is, SLR treats AV1 Codec as a "miracle" or something for an "obvious reason".

But almost everyone here forgets that when it comes to 180°+ VR Video format, everything is "magnified" so to speak, so every bit of resolution, frame rate and color depth counts.

Guys, you need to IGNORE the AV1 PAPER Specs that's MOSTLY described the Flat videos, they mean NOTHING when it comes to VR Video format, at least according to my recent tests and comparisons, In other words the HEVC vs AV1 is meaningless in terms of everything, especially the bitrate.

Whatever codec you use, you need to be reasonable and adjust the correct value when encoding the VR Video depending on the Resolution, Frame rates, Color depth and movement objects, elements and particles in the real life action, CGI or AI video to have an acceptable visual quality.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record now, but that's the only way to go for VR Videos. This is why I hate it when SLR or anyone describe them as "High Bitrate" THEY ARE NOT high bitrate.

They are "Reasonable/ Acceptable" bitrate when it comes to High resolution VR Videos, and they should be available for everyone as part of their subscription plan.

We subscribed for High quality VR Videos, not for garbage quality that can be watched for free everywhere or an "acceptable quality" that's hidden behind ANOTHER PAY WALL.

For me, I'll stick to my guns and refuse to be fooled by this, I always do with anything in both real life and virtual one.

Now it's up yo you guys to raise your standards or keep being fooled and have garbage quality videos, dumb video formats and ***** casting and direction.

        All the best.

As I said here or in another post, the other studios must be stupid to offer videos above 50 mb/s and SLR is smarter with its magic encoding. You just have a guy at their place who compresses the image until he says: ok here it still looks good, we can still see some details of the skin. And in addition the video is at 25 mb/s bitrate for a 10 gb video file with a duration of 70 mins. The client will not see the difference. I'm not complaining about the fact that we have to pay for the master but that the video is encoded so poorly to somehow force us to buy the master. There is no middle ground !

petex67 I'll just stop here, otherwise both of us will be hit with a banhammer. lol!

I bought the latest scene with Eve and Agatha, not seeing a different download option.

fenderwq you are arguing and trying to present evidence to people who clearly dont care about what you care, no matter how obvious it may be, they will dodge deny and change the subject indefinitely because they already made up their mind before this was even a thing in yours lol

I am a bit lost trying to catch-up with this thread. So I am going to just throw this out there:

The only reason I reason that I got a lifetime sub to this site was because of the high quality/high production content of the SLR Originals that were being produced. OntheTelly-(VRfanservice) made innovative content that I felt deserved to be supported. As another subscriber already mentioned in this thread, Onthetelly was let go shortly after I paid for my lifetime membership. Then passthru became the new focus. This sucks IMO, ...I like VR that transports me to new places and experiences, I am not interested in bringing VR into my own space. At least Nash is still around and gives us an interesting BGG or BGGG scene once in a while...thank goodness.

I just want to have the ability to download higher bitrate videos that insure I am getting high quality video reproduction. I don't need the raw footage. This is what I paid for, hopefully this will not disappear as an option.

rock1515 I'm also a lifetime sub, I had been not using the SLR streaming for long time ever since I tried the original high bitrate file.
Sadly I had lost faith for them. SLR will just ignore our request for the original file.
For now, I will just go for other contents.
