  • 2025 Production: Innovation v Viewer Expectations

doublevr personally for me vr porn is too much predictable scene to scene, cast to cast. I want to bring unexpected and wondering what's next.

But how can you do it if you are expected to deliver fixed angle positions and everyone else is doing the same

I agree with you about predictable scene to scene and cast to cast but not about the fixed angles part.

SLR has shot a few scenes in the big looking house where we sit on the couch looking at the kitchen. This is the same exact couch every time.
You could start the scene at the table with the girl making you dinner. That is different and has been done by other studios. She could feed you food and play with your cock while telling you how much she loves you.

You could start the scene standing in the kitchen while she is doing the dishes. She could tell you she is going to be doing chores for a while and if you need some action then you are going to have to do her doggy while she continues wishing the dishes.

There are tons of things that can be done with the same houses and the same camera placements but make them different and unexpected and hot.

Hurto11 None of this matters unless you get better, more high profile attractive stars in the scenes

Attraction is relative and being high profile is not always best if they've been used in many scenes already, it's repetitive talent

Unless you're talking about bringing people into VR for the first time then yeah totally

personally imho SLR top the immersive experience in VR overall sites.

to suddenly add 2d would dilute what this VR experience and future is all about.
unless, of course, you keep the same amount of new vr releases and have a left plane slider option for those that want 2d.
like the JAV slider...
re. Jav l personally cant see the point of censored stuff in the 1st place. its not porn.

doublevr It's not about angles and positions. It's about set design, script writing, and production design. Everything lacking in SLR Originals in 2024 resulting in lazy production. You produce VR porn, in the same indoor sets, with the same formulaic approach, sometimes with certain talent that get casted multiple times a year even though they have 100+ scenes in their portfolio, zero creativity, and wonder why your scenes are predictable? You can tell me I'm wrong if SLR won a couple of AVN awards this year but haven't seen anything and I know vrbangers won best virtual reality scene and a few others. Your solution to make things different is to take a step backwards and produce essentially regular porn and calling that innovation? @Avakian mentioned JAV is better at set and production design and your reply was you don't like the angles? It's not like you guys don't know how to make interesting scenes, there were many in the past. 5 years ago, yall (not sure if it's alex nash or one of the directors you've fired) shot a scene in a pillow fort. Meana Wolf - Pillow Fort - Big Tits Stepsister Taboo Sex. I thought it was so cool and original. I enjoyed the sound design too, having extras outside the scene speaking and making noises outside the pillow fort. Can't think of any other SLR Originals with extras on set. Of course you have something like Mile High Club (which was amazing) on the limo and plane, but you can get creative without spending that much. Other top legendary scenes like NaughtyAmerica's Fidelio are so well loved because they changed it up, shot by shot with different girls, there's narrative and sexual progression in the scene from the start to end, resulting in the last shot with all the girls. Your most creative scene this year was for halloween, but it was more scary than sexy. Instead of making flat porn, look at the regular flat 2D porn from other studios, like brazzers, realitykings, adulttime, etc and learn from their production design and bring their creative writing, styling, and set design to VR. Just get creative.

xeddin1 Unfortunately his gut has gotten things wrong before i.e SLR JAV Originals, controversial directors, etc.

I think today’s POVR release starting Ember Snow (w/ David Lee) is a great example of doing a scene with simple fun set-up with limited scene dressing and a little costuming, but utilizing well-shot tried and true “greatest hits” positioning. Another thing that comes through is that the actors look like they are having fun with this goofy premise which makes the sex even more engaging to watch.

    https://povr.com/vr-porn/make-a-wish-6350139

rftd1995 Fuck yeah couldn’t agree more! Actually love the fun element to Wankz/Povr scenes and they aren’t afraid to throw in a different position now and then to keep it fresh. Take note of David Lee as a male performer as well please @doublevr
His dick is perfect for VR .

I also think that SLR could develop their BYOJ a little more to do the occasional Dezyred style game. Navigating a party or a day at college or at the office trying to fuck as many girls as possible without hitting a game over screen can be fun. Also, I just like scenes that have some narrative continuity anyway.

Maybe start varying things by not having every single scene with the same director and same male talent especially when we already have VRSpy doing things exactly the same as well.

Flat porn has anal sex, double penetration, gaping, rough sex, throat fucking, gagging, messy deepthroat blowjobs. All these things can be done without moving away from POV based VR porn.

Doing the same boring vanilla stuff and just changing camera angles to non-POV isn’t going to please anyone.

The fixed camera is not what's holding back creativity, plenty of different positions can be achieved. If studios are churning out repeatable formulaic safe content that's just a lack of imagination imo. I agree with hypertsunaz, if you are really trying to bringing something new in 2025 then focus on set design, script writing, and production design. Not to cast any shade, I get it, when you are facing deadlines and a limited budget you stick with what has worked.

But I know SLR can do innovation, scenes like "Dick Runner 2049" were amazing.

Let’s also put some of these fan favorite ladies in a variety of scenes. For example, I LOVE Melanie Marie, about a lot of her scenes on SLR and VRSpy have felt really repetitive, even the ones that are threesomes. But, in the last month, VRBangers/VRConk shot her in two very distinct scenes: one where she is a stranger you meet at a laundromat and the other in perfect Final Fantasy Aerith cosplay. They were even both with the same guy, but they felt like distinct and fresh ways of seeing our lovely Melanie and made the experiences even more enticing.

What makes VR truly unique is the immersion factor. The whole 'goose bump' 'mouth drool' feeling you are right there actually fucking dozens of amazing 10 vixens anytime you want. 2D just cant offer that.

The issue is the 'immersion factor' hasnt been consistently and reliably leveraged or maximized by many of the studios yet. Japan even though they sensor everything more than makes up for it because they probably more than any US studio have learned how to maximize the immersion factor.

They successfully position the girls more often at an angle and distance that gives you that perfect eye connection . The best SLR examples of is Neural Link with Mellisa Stratton both in seated and laying CG, EuroTrip step ******* with Kama Oxi in seated cowgirl (this is perfect distance and angle where we feel as if you are right there), Stress relief with Venus Vixen, and seated CG with Emily Jade in Raw Taboo Peeping (though she is slightly too high up in seated CG).

I am not a producer so I cant tell you how the Japanese pull it off so consistently but my thought is to study the optimal angles and distances and then have the girls quickly practice the perfect distance and angle on a 'dry run' for both seated and laying CG for each scene. Then have a quality guy watching in realtime and directing whether she is in optimal position or not by a green light (perfect viewing angle/distance), yellow light (coming slightly out of optimal range), or red light (out of optimal viewing range). The light would be above and behind the male or even better a small light in between the dual cameras of the rig so the girl would never lose eye contact.

This would make the process easily repeatable and consistent.

Consistently seeing clearly into the eyes of the girl you are fucking while being able to see her simultaneously going up and down on your cock takes VR immersion up a whole nother level.

Genuine question: How does moving into flat/2d porn further the goal of the name "SexLikeReal"? No offense, but isn't that an expansion that will stretch resources thin? There are dozens and dozens of 2d porn creators or studios, SLR excels and succeeds precisely because it has created a platform that facilitates, enhances, and drives forward the world of VR porn. I personally find the idea that SLR would go into 2d stuff to be a distraction or detour, but I might be misunderstanding what is meant by "getting into flat" for diverse, multi angled experiences. What does that actually mean? 2D porn? Or something else?

As others are saying, I think part of what would make it less boring is things that are actually very, very easy to fix:

        1. Variety of outfits. Slutty outfits, stripper outfits, bikinis, more dedicated roleplay like sexy nurse outfits, police outfits, BDSM outfits, latex, heels, stripper heels, and so on.
        2. More variety, depth, or quality of scenarios. Girlfriend fantasies are fine, but trying things differently would enhance things QUITE a bit. This goes into the next topic:
        3. Scenery/Environments/Sets: Even for Passthrough, it's possible to include scenarios that involve fictionalized spaces. So for example, instead of the assumption that it's a bedroom, it could be fictionalized for Passthrough scenes as being at the office, a bathroom stall, a prison cell, a BDSM dungeon, a witch's tower, a vampire's castle, some inter-dimensional demon lair, in a public park, at the beach on the sand, laying on clouds with some sexy angel woman, and so on and so on and so on. Even if you don't create a physical set for these ideas, you could still achieve the fantasy of being there and allow users with passthrough to adjust in some way. Or you could create 3D/virtual sets if it's in the clouds for example and then add in sound effects. Which leads me to maybe point 4:
        4. Sounds effects and other effects immersion. You could create sound effects for different scenarios and in fact, can find free use sound effects or ambience to use edited into scenes. If you're in an alien space ship, then there are spaceship beeps and whirring, buzzing sounds in the background. If you're at the beach...the ocean sounds. If you're in a vampire's castle, howling wolves and wind blowing. If you're in a bathroom stall, the sound of a toilet flushing in the distance in the other bathroom across the hall, water flowing through pipes sounds, people walking in the hallway outside, and so on.

I think that while I understand the idea that positions are repetitive in POV VR, it's for good reason. Certain positions just ARE immersion breaking. Certain positions just aren't very easily possible in VR. That is, for now anyway until tech is created to allow the user to sort of virtualize themselves or create like full-body occlusion AND interactivity where the user can interact with the scene somehow. But at that point, we're talking something more of a truly virtual world. Otherwise, there is no scene in which another man's arms grabbing a woman's body for some position will not be obviously immersion breaking for VR Passthrough especially.

But I digress. There are STILL great ways to create new positions or variations on different positions or use props to create a variety of positions and so on. And ultimately, even in real life, there are only a certain amount of positions most people do during sex or even in 2D porn that isn't POV.

I think the idea of non POV for VR doesn't make a whole lot of sense except in a couple cases. I wouldn't mind seeing some of it in a way, but ultimately, VR porn makes the most sense as a way for the viewer to imagine themselves in the POV having sex with the person or persons in front of them. If we want different angles, I think something that I actually DID like in the past was having multi-screens. That would actually be VERY welcome for certain scenes like with that Winter Jade scene YEARS ago. Certain positions would be more sensible and achievable if you make use of digital virtualized screens in the vid that can show the woman sucking your dick from below while not necessarily being able to see her very well from your 1st person POV. Here's one idea that can bring variety to POV VR and one that I think would be amazing as some sort of a series or new VR studio:

VR milking tables but with multiple POVs. So, for example, the viewer's main POV would be laying on the milking table. (I uh...happen to have my own personal one at home but that's just me I guess). Then, the model doing the action would be underneath obviously and you would have another couple cameras capturing different angles of her underneath you so that you may not see her directly in front of you, but because of the other cameras, you could still know that it is happening. With an interactive toy like the Handy set up properly underneath you and a cheap ass camping cot with a hole cut where you wiener sticks through, you could thereby create VR milking table scenes that allow the viewer to imagine themselves in that scenario in 1st person POV while still providing an image of the actual action happening from the different camera angles. So this is one way in which we wouldn't need flat porn vids to achieve variety or difference and would very much bring diversity of content and surprise to the VR porn space again.

A big big part of why there isn't variety in VR Porn is precisely because of the reasons above. There should be improvements or variety in sound design, set design, props used to achieve different positions or perspectives, and more variety to porn scenarios rather than the usual "hey I'm hot and want to fuck you" that most studios do. Granted, I LOVE the "I'm hot and want to fuck you" scenes but even those work best as PSE porn star experiences.

For my side, I don't care about the predictive part. What I wish is the news contents and actresses.
I mean if for each actress, you make play any kind of situation with the cosplay. Everyone will be happy for a lifetime.
But I understand it's boring for directors and not different from concurrence.

You are strong point is technical innovation. So continue too improve it.
For example, the passthrough with any kind of filters.
Or multi-screens to have the full actress views. (I love take one in doggy and in same time see her face and tits).
Other idea, develop a full VR experience that you see from any angles and move in the scene.

If you want challenge you will find it :-)

...okay, it's perfectly possible to do a non-immersion tracking shot in VR, as demonstrated by VRSUN and others in the 'vouyer' dept, but i've yet to see anyone try to film people fucking with one. Boom, there's an idea.

Obviously JAV have (i assume) already done it, but i think by now it should be perfectly obvious that the meta is:

JAV have already done everything first, and all we need to do is blatantly copy them.

Which is exactly how all great art works. You copy the people that are successful that came before, develop your own style, and innovate your own path forwards.

What @xeddin1 says about following gut is absolutely true. It's easy to copy everyone else, and it's inevitable when innovating that you fuck up. Over and over again. But true talent, and creativity, isn't a flash in the pan, it's a long hard slog, 99% perspiration, and a harsh tide of criticism, from people who have their faces turned to the past. Expect to be hated for producing great art. Don't expect to be understood. But do enjoy the rush.

So yeah, i'm happy for SLR to make some truly bad mistakes, because the more chaos, the more creation.

And there's probably a circle jerk of confirmation bias going on with this very forum, in that there's not a great many of us here (out of SLR user base), and that would imply we're a certain type of people (opinionated twats who can't resist forums...) and thus aren't representative of the actually current user base, maybe we're more... vociferous?

        i dunno.

        Opinionated vociferous twat signing out...

There are some studios who have shot non-traditional VR quite well. Vroomed, no2studio, JackandJill, KinkyGirlsBerlin and others I'm sure I'm leaving out. Also, I quite enjoy the old realitylovers voyeur vids which were shot like traditional 2d scenes and they also released two versions of each scene, a POV and a voyeur edition, haven't seen any other studio do that since, perhaps SLR can release two versions of each scene with one being straight POV and the other being the POV version with the nonPOV scenes added in if they don't want film a dedicated voyeur version.

Also I think SLR is limiting itself with just one "SLR Original" channel. A lot of studios have "sites" within the site, and can start implementing themes into sub channels, kind of like how bangbros has bangbus, monsters of cock, milf lessons, brown bunnies, etc., or other fetish/niche websites liked blacked, legalporno. Can start filming scenes into sub-sites fitting certain themes and niches. Not saying I don't like pov but i like variety a lot more and as mention in the OP there are now thousands upon thousands of scenes with the same white-on-white POV and gets repetitive, takes truly great scenes with the right girls and angles to really jump out after seeing the same thing over and over again. Just my opinion...

doublevr As we are discussing with SLR directors future steps of bringing something new we get stuck with basic principles of how things work in VR. Getting all the cool intros and themes is easy, it's hardcore parts making things difficult.

Personally i think you guys do the hardcore stuff really well already. For me it's the intros, themes, sets, and story scripts that you guys could improve on the most. Put more effort into cool storylines and you can create some really magical scenes. A lot of studios are falling into the formulaic scenes now where the only thing that truly changes from one scene to the next is the girl.

Add more cosplay, especially sci fi, and have storylines that the actress can kind of call back to when she's whispering in my ear. The cosplay/scifi scenes you guys used to do were really really good

Use sets with different lighting. Lately it seems like most scenes are shot in the living room at noon. A GFE scene at night next to a fireplace would be awesome IMO.

Here's some scenes you have done in the past with different lighting that i really liked:
