  • Should we add BrainDance 6DOF gaussians on SLR?

doublevr changed the title to Should we add BrainDance 6DOF gaussians on SLR? .

It's kinda cool but it's a static capture. Will probably get boring pretty quickly

Can we all take a moment to appreciate how innovative SLR is? AI pass through, AI scripts, PMVs, compilations, new technologies, engaging forums, etc.

I think this would be a great feature to really push immersion.

fenderwq Nah, I mean DeoVR the other site is already allowing gallery... well pictures for upload this at least is more immersive... and may even be possible with their use of Dark Rooms to even do videos like 'Black Room VR' does/did as the name implies a blacked out room except the lighting needed for actresses. So, might work maybe?
    For reference:
[List of their videos... since SLR website hates me]

[Just Google 'VR Porn Database' you should find the sketchy named website.]

jommy Some people like that... not me but, some people will probably miss it, I guess.

Yes please! I've been waiting so long for any 6DOF content, even a couple of images will satisfy my curiosity for now.

FirmBark the issue with volumetric video is the playback format and converting all that image data accurately to a preformant playable representation. There have been some attempts for porn and the field has seen a lot of research improvements lately like gaussian splatting etc. that convert all this image data to a volumetric "video" better and more efficient. It's on a bit of a technical turning point I'd say. Similar to the oculus dev kit days for vr.

However, playing back high quality volumetric video that actually looks like, let's say a good 4k vr video, requires quite a bit of processing power which is challenging on a pc and I don't think possible yet on a mobile device like quest (for now). So currently the performance and the conversion to the volumetric format are still pretty big bottle necks. So, quality is getting to a sorta acceptable point but it's very far from an 8k video still.

Also, you gotta realize, the techniques to make these videos guesstimate a lot of stuff to make the 3d data and textures. In practice this can mean that stuff that was not captured by the cameras is often not accurate (between legs when standing etc.), or for example a dildo merging with a girls pussy. Stuff like that. There are also some other challenges too. For instance. I'm not sure how feasible POV would be at the moment (due to what is obscured from the camera).

Still, having seen videos like that. It's definitely something completely different then vr180. It has huge potential and feels far more immersive. The 3d space perfectly aligns with the pass-through which alone is an awesome improvement. But of course your able to move around in a video like that too. Exciting times really.

It feels like now could be a good time for some early experiments. Research in this field is going fast and the quality of the content produced will improve with it. Can't wait for high quality volumetrics in the future.

...fuck yeah, this is literally the thing that will make PT work the way it should...

3 demos were really cool. Thanks for sharing. Girls were beautiful and video clarity was ok. Some minor artefacts here and there. I was actually surprised how far 6DOF is.

Poor controls though. Should be done differently. "Image" should be grabbed and turned around the girl not around viewer. Definitely needs passtrough for the backround as an option.

        doublevr vr180 or 6dof?

6DoF is the GOAT but i'm up for anything new and cool

Curious if we want to start selling these pay per video with their player or wait until DeoVR integrates it. Also it's local playback only. Streaming is further down the line, more like a year from now.
