You are downloading more than 30 entire 20gb 8k porn files a months? Where are you storing this?
I download a shit ton for creative content and probably won’t feel this effect. I don’t think most people will notice
Silly-Sausage it's not in works yet

Silly-Sausage no idea what are you talking.
Downloads are not going anywhere for regular users.
Data hoarders showing the worst product loyalty will pay a fair price or go.
Going to unlock extra downloads for those who stream 10 min in app.
Everyone's happy. Updated OP a bit

I’m being realistic. As a lifetime user this would mean I have 50 downloads a month not to mention infinite streaming. As someone who has been extremely active for about 2 years I would not notice this.
This is still in the works as well. I don’t think the intent is to punish regular users, but to rather do something about those who are essentially downloading the entire catalogue.
I think discussions about this, which SLR is doing is important. Rather than VRbangers just straight up removing the option completely

It's quite simple: Anyone downloading more than 30/month will notice. If a shit ton is equivalent to no more than 30/month, then you will not.

If these users are the problem, why not implement a plan that is more restrictive towards short-term subscribers only?
For example, Reality Lovers has the following model:
- 1 month: (4K) streaming only
- 3 months: 15 downloads per week
- 12 months: Unlimited downloads

I like this a lot. It addresses the issue, targets the category of users that are most likely to abuse data hoarding, while not impacting the non abusers

SchnuppiLilac expanding downloads for users with history sounds like a great idea ️ Updated OP

I've been active on the forums for 3 years and the switch from PC/VR to Quest3/DeoVR is when downloads became less of a concern for me. I now fall in the camp of not noticing because I can stream uninterruptedly without loading issues unlike before which was my original need for downloading. Data insights show Quest 2 and 3 are majority of headset users and SLR Streaming vs Downloads data paints a picture of how much regular users would be affected.
In my opinion, even just one download per day is better than no downloads at all; possibilities still exist. Because I no longer use PC/VR and instead upgraded to Quest3/DeoVR which makes it possible to lay down watching vrporn, I plan on downloading one or two videos a day from either sub to my PC and then uploading them to my future SLR Drive to stream on my Quest3. I don't know what their download limits are, but I would imagine I fall on the reasonable side. If any of them remove the option, that's the end of my several years sub.

Was your nickname Karen or Dunning-Kruger?
I feel like you should make an "unlimited download" tier, and price it accordingly.
But I agree it should be a "pay per use" type of thing, kind of like toll roads.

lukcybro87 might be an option for a privileged few
Might be a good time to introduce that SLR Miles High Club loyalty program
really bad move and will lose a lot of customers including me

doublevr Honestly, I saw this coming, just wasn't sure how or when. SLR has been taking smaller steps compared to VRB, who made a huge move by completely removing the download button. The goal is the same though, pushing people to use the app by streaming.
I just wanted to ask @doublevr, help me see things clearer, let's say in a year from now, you have 100% streaming users and 0 download allocations per month. How does this benefit your company beyond just 'collecting data'? Because personally, SLR is my favorite VR site and I do want to see it more successful, more success means better content for us.
[deleted] I think 100% removal of downloads like VRB did is a terrible idea. But 30/40/50 downloads a months plus extra when you stream for a few minutes… I personally don’t understand how some people are grabbing pitchforks over this. I think I download ALOT and I don’t reach this limit. The time it takes to download and storage space alone would not allow me to reach these limits.
I feel I am missing something as to why this amount of downloads per month is low. Or everyone just has 100TB of storage 10x fiber optics download speed
