phyuggene Could be but what imo speaks to AR scenes popularity is the number of views on each individual old/new AR scenes. If AR scenes weren't popular, had a large opposition or the novelty starts to wear off I would expect a rather rapid decline in number of views each new scene would accumulate contra older AR scenes. I don't see that at all. So AR scenes seems have a fairly high retention rate.

Just to be clear- I'm no AR fan boy. I think the idea is interesting but needs improving.

You guys wondering why SLR is putting out so much PT content, it's because while a good % of paying VR porn consumers might sub to SLR, literally 100% of PT fans will sub. They have created a new category and until other studios catch up they will capture that entire market. Absolutely makes sense to take the ball and run with it, so long as they keep gaining more PT fans than they lose PT haters. It's extremely hard to create a unique selling point in porn but with PT + scripts, and the AI offshoots of those, SLR has two.

SchnuppiLilac I don’t think these are just SLRO figures are they? I assume he is talking site usage as a whole. 2/3 views are non PT but the vast, vast majority of content is non-PT so that would be expected. It’s pretty amazing that PT is as high as it is based on the sheer volume of VR vs AR content.

Not good news for me, if this is accurate, as I have zero interest in PT.

SchnuppiLilac Looking at the recent SLRO scenes, Training Day has significantly more views than the Agatha or Briana VR scenes around it. How does this fit into 2/3 not using PT?

Maybe users are watching something other than the last few videos?

OliverDK Not if it's a growing trend. Then it makes sense to focus on it to capitalize on a expected growing audience.

Unless it's just churn - new PT users replacing VR users who are frustrated with the lack of quality and release schedule. IN that case, it could be fatal when the novelty wears off.

OliverDK I have no idea if AR porn will continue to increase in growth or it will fade out but I'm actually personal quite surprised 1/3 of users are AR users. That's higher than I expected given the number of headsets capable of AR and the still limited numbers of scenes.

We have no idea how "AR users" is defined. If it follows other cherry picked stats that have been posted in the past, it likely means "anyone with a Q3" or "anyone who ever clicked on a PT video".

fuccaneer but does it makes business sense to alienate a significant user base like non-PT users?

I'm curious: How does PT alienate a significant user base? Can't you watch the videos in non-PT mode? Are they not as good when you turn off PT?

It looks like the top ten videos this month are PT videos. I doubt it's going away.

petermc It doesn't become really clear from the first diagram what has been measured. It says 'number of users' and the form of the curve looks like it is based on weekly data points. But when do you become a PT user? Does peeking into one of the SLR AR videos for 30 sec with PT switched off already make you a PT user for that week?

I am excited to see the future development now that the number of videos with AI PT is growing day by day. Since the AI PT mask is not embedded in the video, it will likely be possible to measure views and view time of regular VR scenes with AI PT on or off.

Speaking only for myself, I think AI PT is the real game changer. For anyone open to the PT concept as whole, there is so much to re-explore now. And if a scene doesn't work, just skip to the next one. For me this is much more exciting than the one or two weekly AR scenes and I already started spending a significant share of my daily VR porn time checking out the new AI PT relases.

Wendigo Unless it's just churn - new PT users replacing VR users who are frustrated with the lack of quality and release schedule. IN that case, it could be fatal when the novelty wears off.

Could fail spectacularly but I don't know. As mentioned earlier I look at the views new AR scenes accumulate and they seem to retain high views that increase fairly rapidly. I wouldn't expect that if AR was just a phase. I would expect the views to decline with each new scene as people lost interest and currently that doesn't seem to be the case but the world could be much different a year from now.

trooowiii People who are anti-passthrough, are you using devices such as the handy that make non-passthrough better for that application? Just curious. I think people just have different tastes as well. I've read some comments where the user likes to escape into different scenes rather than see their environment. I get that too.

Yes, that latter one is me. Also using the Handy and I'm functionally dependent on it - I really can't get off any other way now; I guess haptics are to me what PT is to some people here. Personally, I have no desire to see my own body or room because neither is pleasant to look at. The PT effect is utterly unconvincing to me. I don't change positions during normal scenes, either, irrespective of the position. I usually just cherry-pick the bits I like (mostly cowgirl). That's my preference. Others have different preferences. It's all good as long as there's something for everyone. I am worried about the direction of travel, though, I won't lie about that.

mebejoe I'm curious: How does PT alienate a significant user base? Can't you watch the videos in non-PT mode? Are they not as good when you turn off PT?

Not if the male is wearing a blue / grey body suit and all you can see is his equipment, and the room is basically a blue/grey space.

mebejoe It looks like the top ten videos this month are PT videos. I doubt it's going away.

If AR is going to become the default here, as I said on a thread some months ago, then I will be unhappy and will probably have to look elsewhere for my porn. If it becomes the default everywhere, well then I guess I'm going back to 2D.

Now, if something that's being talked about here which is 'AI Passthrough' works out so that you can create scenes that satisfy PT fans while filming the scene 'as normal' so it can be viewed as a regular VR scene without weird artificial backgrounds etc, then my concerns will disappear. People will vote with their feet and wallets. If most people want PT then that's what the studios will end up doing most of the time. You can't swim against the tide. I hope I don't have to.

(BTW, if the stat of 'PT users' means 'anyone who's ever clicked a PT video', then I'm one of them, because I have, to see what all the fuss was about; but I'm definitely not a PT user and won't be.)

          5 days later

I'd be interested to see the data on Quest 3 user percentages.

I've not seen a lot talk from users being blown away by this headset ?

Has the passthrough had firmware updates since launch with any improvements ?

Would love to hear feedback from Q3 users !

Silly-Sausage I have a 2 and 3. To me there is not much difference in the 2 headsets. The biggest I guess is the color PT but I don't use it very much.
The PT still looks like a pixelated version of my room but now in a colorish version. I bet the apple one is way better looking for PT if that is what you are looking for

rerun119 Yeah, i'm actually enjoying the AI passthrough at the moment as the ones i requested, for me are amazing as it makes a massive difference having performers i like and the taboo talk makes these scenes incredible so i was potentially thinking of an upgrade but the price is still too high - I did read that Meta are going to release a lite version later in the year around half the price, but still not sure if that would be worth it if the only improvement is the passthrough - i may wait for Q4 to be released, but still interested in genuine feedback as i will probably give in to temptation.

Silly-Sausage Don't let me talk you out of it because I'm not a huge fan of PT. I have read and I am sure you have to about how much people love the color PT.
If that is your thing then you might really love it.

rerun119 No worries - the issue is money i guess, i could afford one, but £450 UK is alot to pay and happy to wait for the inevitable price reduction.

From what I've read, the Lite version doesn't have passthrough at all. It's basically a Quest 3 without the PT cameras and the pancake lenses will be replaced with Fresnel lenses.

obilisk2450 It's basically a Quest 3 without the PT cameras and the pancake lenses will be replaced with Fresnel lenses.

The lenses were one of the key upgrades vs the Quest 2 so going back to Fresnel lenses sounds silly to me. It sounds like a Quest 2+ lol.

Cheers for the info - i guess i won't be buying one of those then, it's almost as if they want to lose the VR porn market !
