Well, considering that Oculus had not even released DK2, and when they did, it was next to impossible for somebody like me to get it to work consistently -- YES! It was quite a lot of fun.

I later got a 47 inch LG TV that had the same feature -- I hung it from the ceiling over my couch., so it was practically right in my face. But one day -- BAM! It dropped, and it was beyond repair. And they stopped making them.

But that's okay, the VR headsets now are pretty great, although there was something about not being trapped inside a headset that was pretty cool

mebejoe wow ok, that was way back in the day of VR. I'm pretty sure I still have my Dk1 and Dk2 headsets somewhere. Man, I would have killed for 3D monitors like that back in those days. I still have a 65 inch curved 4k samsung TV that does active 3D, it also has a feature to turn content into 3D now that I think about it. I'll have to run some tests later to compare which one does a better job now. I just hate having to use active glasses, the batteries dont last at all or swell to the point of being dangerous so I have some glasses that I can get to work with a battery bank but they are wonky. Nice to see another man of culture when it comes to 3D, there must be a dozen or so left of us these days πŸ˜†

metichemsi Streaming 3D to this device would be sweet. I imagine streaming VR videos to this would be an experience similar to the SLR web video-player experience. Instead, when pushing play, the models pop out and we use touch-screen instead of the mouse to look up, down, left, and right, providing a more fluid experience.

Stream to 3D just released on Steam made specifically for the VR community, and it may possibly work with this 3D tablet. It converts from 2D to 3D with real-time conversion and supports streaming to 3D and 2D devices. Do you think something like this would work in the meantime before any of their future updates?

I may just buy this 3D tablet in addition to a new VR headset because I'm getting Kindle Fire HD vibes all over again ... and this pad is a whole 2-3 inches bigger than my tablet. Time for 2 upgrades in one. 😁

abcrebel If done right, the 2D to 3D conversion would be a game changer! There’s so much 2D POV videos out there that it would open up a world of possibilities if done right.

dango789 I think I was getting ahead of myself when thinking about streaming 3D to a 3D projector, considering that the equivalent of AR or Passthrough without glasses.

abcrebel Yes, even non POV content looks cool in 3D. I have been downloading all of my favorite 4k scenes from one of my all time favorite sites, perfectgonzo, and watching them in 3D. Very cool, I will have to check out that Stream to 3D app on steam for sure as well. Thanks

metichemsi Sure, this could be a new way of gaming too. All those adult visual novels I've been skipping have more appeal now; funny how that is. One little trinket (3D) effect and I'm all eyes ... looking at you Projekt: Passion πŸ‘€

            Thx
abcrebel some preliminary check by our engineer on Stream to 3D on Steam

They claim https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d/ that some temporal shift on left and right eye can cause effect of 3d on moving objects. Basically they calculate and perform temporal delay without changing any frames themselves. Need to check how it looks - not sure effect will be very noticable
Have not noticed any 3d effect on converted example videos

it gives some depth to the 2d videos, but nothing extraordinary ( like 3d televisions or bluray players which transform 2d films into false 3d); For me it's more pleasant than 2D but it has nothing to do with real 3D or VR

to convert video 2d en 3d ( i'm french: i wanted to say: it's too bad , the expression "it's a shame" is not exactly, i like deo

                sylvan no worries πŸ‘Œ
I don't think there's a way to do it now, but we are keeping our eyes on it

sylvan yes, that a good way to explain 2D to 3D conversion in my opinion, it does give depth but not pop. Meaning, your most forefront subjects will always be as far up as the screen of the device, everything else will just be given depth further back. Where true 3D gives you pop above the screen plane and depth behind the screed depth. Still very cool to watch all this 2D content with a 3D effect.

metichemsi I remember seeing this last year ... 2500 animations, holy smokes, adding this back to my wishlist. They dropped a new one today too, 3000 animations. The rabbit hole truly has no end, and the rabbit holes are many.

metichemsi : before vr existed and there were few true 3d videos: I used the 3dfier software: which integrated into a stereoscopic player and with a 3d vision screen: I watched the 2d videos: converted into false 3d: c It wasn't so bad!

abcrebel Yea it was pretty fun and the animations were great. Really wish someone would adapt this into a VR game. Anyways, if you enjoy light puzzles as well this will be right up your alley, I had no idea what this was about going into it, I simply got it because of the animations. The puzzles were a bit of a drag at times but the animations made them well worth it.

Yes! I just noticed their new game just came out, pretty much the same concept but new girls and more animations. I'm not looking forward to the puzzles honestly but its definitely something to burn some time down time on.

Let me know what you think of them if you do end up trying them out.
