Vatsyayana we are also working to launch videos in headset from the browser
doublevr Yo, forget 2D on your phone, how about glasses-free full 3D on your tablet?
I just ordered one of these 3D tables and they support full playback of 180 and 360 3D videos.
Should be here in a couple of days, will report back once I get this up and running.
metichemsi oh wow. where do I get mine?
doublevr
This could be revolutionary.
Well done team!
Would it be possible to transform 2d porn in VR with a great result in the future?
doublevr It's called a lume pad 2, it's actually on sale right now, 40% off. It's still pricey but I used to be one of the 2 people in the world that ever cared to own one of those RED Hydrogen cell phones that came out years ago, and I miss that thing, this thing is a huge step up. Go check it out
KingJamaica It will be possible to get some stereo effect with the depth map.
But dream big, why not full AI set extension.
Why not fully generated VR porn video based on your prompt or search?
Future will be wild.
doublevr Not sure if you ended up looking into this tablet but I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and I am pretty impressed at the potential of this tech. It's not perfect, it has several quirks and it's definitely not ready for mass adoption, specially for the VR space but boy is it impressive when viewing the correct content.
This thing does support VR content, both videos and photos. I have watched 8k VR videos on this thing, both from SLR and ones I have shot myself with my Canon system.
A few quick notes: It has one playback VR profile for 180 equirectangular viewing, so 190 and 200 fisheye videos are not technically supported but they will still play using the 180 tag, the expected warping at the top and bottom will be present. Just like if you try to view 190 or 200 fisheye videos on a headset using a 180 profile.
Its distance tolerance is much lower than a VR headset, meaning objects have to be about 2 feet away or else it starts to look cross eyed, so VR content looks best when there are any super close subjects, sadly most VR has subjects closer than that, still super cool to view VR content in full 3D on a tablet without glasses.
Right now the table can only play 3D files from its internal memory which is only 128GB so anything you want to watch in 3D must be transferred to the internal memory first, so you really only have about 100GB of free space for media, which for VR is nothing really. They do support playback from a USB C or microSD card but they will not play in 3D. This will come in a later FW update. Could be a deal breaker for a lot of people but I personally dont mind it.
A really cool feature of this tablet that I am actually using a lot is its AI algorithm that takes any of your 2D media and live converts it to 3D. Again, just like with VR, in order to view the media in 3D it has to be stored in its internal memory, but wow is this cool. I took a ton of 4K non VR porn and hentai and watched it all in 3D. It'd processed live on the tablet and the effect is super realistic, in most cases it looks like it was shot natively on a 3D camera. You can see a little bit of artifacts on the edges of moving subjects that have a depth of field to them but wow, its minimal, and watching 4K and even 6K porn converted to SBS 3D that almost looks like it was natively shot in 3D is incredible. I have been watching all my favorite 2D porn in 3D from sites like Vixen and PerfectGozo and UltraFilms. This is one of the features I didnt really expect to use that much before I purchased but after playing around with it for some time it has become one of my favorite things about it. I am also now watching all my 3D content I have shot in the past with my old Sony TD-10 camera. I no longer need to setup my 3D 4K TV and those pesky glasses anymore.
You can take 3D photos and videos with it. I have still not tested video with proper lighting yet but I will soon. There are no manual controls available so that kind of sucks, so you want to have plenty of light to ensure your ISO and shutter speed arent completely whack. But the pictures that you take with it in 3D and under good lighting look incredible.
You can take URL links of any publicly available video, such as youtube or PH and paste it into the video player app and the tablet will convert the videos into 3D as well. So my kids have been enjoying watching their favorite minecraft youtube videos in 3D now.
I have not found a solution to watch SLR videos on here without downloading though. Anything streaming has to be publicly available, meaning not behind any user login walls. SLR would need to probably work with them to develop and app or server access.
Again, plenty of quirks and only really recommended to other nerds and geeks so dont mind being on the fringe of niche products.
Given the distance required for good 3D on this tablet, something like the CALF camera would be perfect for this tablet, since the CALF camera is not really made for super closeup subjects since it has that weird masking at the top and bottom of the image, it would be perfect for this. I might have to pick one up later but for now I will simply make sure to keep a further distance when shooting content specifically for the tablet.
If anyone has any questions about this thing let me know.
Kind of reminds me of when Asus used to make monitors that turned any video into a 3d video with the press of a button. You had to wear glasses, but it worked pretty well. I had three of them set up side by side in portrait mode and it was pretty fun to use with POV porn.
I guess you don't need glasses with these pads though
metichemsi coming to the office soon. took longer than expected. totally looking to put my hands on it
mebejoe yes, very similar, by the way that sounds like it was a sweet setup. Overall pretty cool experience and the portable and multi use factor of the tablet mode and features plus, it was 40% off at the time made it a no brainer for me.
doublevr Nice, I hope your team can setup a way to stream your content in 3D on these devices. I'm pretty sure one of their future updates will allow VR viewing in 3D from the microSD or USB drive, but streaming would be perfect on these. Have fun with it and keep us posted on what creative uses you come up with.
Well, considering that Oculus had not even released DK2, and when they did, it was next to impossible for somebody like me to get it to work consistently -- YES! It was quite a lot of fun.
I later got a 47 inch LG TV that had the same feature -- I hung it from the ceiling over my couch., so it was practically right in my face. But one day -- BAM! It dropped, and it was beyond repair. And they stopped making them.
But that's okay, the VR headsets now are pretty great, although there was something about not being trapped inside a headset that was pretty cool
mebejoe wow ok, that was way back in the day of VR. I'm pretty sure I still have my Dk1 and Dk2 headsets somewhere. Man, I would have killed for 3D monitors like that back in those days. I still have a 65 inch curved 4k samsung TV that does active 3D, it also has a feature to turn content into 3D now that I think about it. I'll have to run some tests later to compare which one does a better job now. I just hate having to use active glasses, the batteries dont last at all or swell to the point of being dangerous so I have some glasses that I can get to work with a battery bank but they are wonky. Nice to see another man of culture when it comes to 3D, there must be a dozen or so left of us these days
metichemsi Streaming 3D to this device would be sweet. I imagine streaming VR videos to this would be an experience similar to the SLR web video-player experience. Instead, when pushing play, the models pop out and we use touch-screen instead of the mouse to look up, down, left, and right, providing a more fluid experience.
Stream to 3D just released on Steam made specifically for the VR community, and it may possibly work with this 3D tablet. It converts from 2D to 3D with real-time conversion and supports streaming to 3D and 2D devices. Do you think something like this would work in the meantime before any of their future updates?
I may just buy this 3D tablet in addition to a new VR headset because I'm getting Kindle Fire HD vibes all over again ... and this pad is a whole 2-3 inches bigger than my tablet. Time for 2 upgrades in one.
abcrebel Yes, even non POV content looks cool in 3D. I have been downloading all of my favorite 4k scenes from one of my all time favorite sites, perfectgonzo, and watching them in 3D. Very cool, I will have to check out that Stream to 3D app on steam for sure as well. Thanks
metichemsi Sure, this could be a new way of gaming too. All those adult visual novels I've been skipping have more appeal now; funny how that is. One little trinket (3D) effect and I'm all eyes ... looking at you Projekt: Passion
