Other than hurting feelings, downvoting doesn't actually do anything. No reason to remove it.
Unnecessary Downvoting On Scene Comments
petergriff if it’s purely there to hurt feelings, there’s no reason to have it either.

I gotta support @petermc and agree with him about this. I also noticed lately a trend where people would downvote pretty much any positive comment about an anal scene. There is some anal hater gang that will systematically downvote every post about it.
As @petermc says, I agree this is toxic and nonsense, I don't think it would come to my mind to downvote every comment praising vaginal only scenes, yet I don't like vag scenes. Same goes with threesomes and BGG+, I won't downvote every post here from people posting positive feedbacks yet I don't like threesomes.
I think people are free to post they don't like anal scenes but i guess it's always hard for them to justify these since they are too rare anyway.
I guess these people can't bear that 1 scene out of trillions has 5min of anal Indeed, babies!
I appreciate the support but I don’t want this just to be pigeonholed as some anal discussion. It’s about downvoting being weaponised by toxic groups of people rather than a genuine indicator of people’s feelings. If we can’t trust that it’s genuine, why bother having it?
I am I-don't-even-know-what-downvoting-is years old and I am both surprised and dismayed to learn that there is a battle of the thumbs going on out there between rival body orifice gangs that is actually hurting people's feelings. Just thinking out loud and following the SLR spirit: Maybe it would appease the anal haters renaming the procedure rectal wellness?
SchnuppiLilac I get that you’re being facetious but no one’s feelings are hurt and a battle would suggest this is two sided. There’s no rivals here, this is just a group of entitled assholes trying to spoil other people’s enjoyment.
It might be worth considering making the down/up voter of scene comments visible.
petermc why do we need to go and censor or ban every little thing that hurts someones fragile ego or feelings?
honestly.. getting upset over a dozen downvotes is peak first world problems.
petermc I am genuinly trying to understand where this hostility towards anal is coming from. I mean if I don't like something, I just skip the part and be done with it. But now after you called those guys assholes, I think I'm on to something

I believe that removing downvotes in general is not a good idea, and if anything, it makes ratings and comments 'less credible'. I remember criticizing BDK for removing the rating system a year ago for the same reason - lack of credibility. The same goes for SLR for not having downvotes on scenes. In my opinion, Wankzvr's rating system, which shows the percentage of likes and dislikes, is the best way to provide an accurate representation of user feedback.
Removing downvotes on comments may not necessarily resolve the issue. Let's take YouTube as an example since you already mentioned it. Did they remove dislikes cuz they think that dislikes on "Baby by JB" and similar aren't genuine ?? No. It's clear they did it to prevent potential harm, but at the same time, it's also restricting freedom of speech. Which I personally find pretty absurd.
If downvotes are hidden/removed, it could only result in more negative comments being expressed in the comment section, with those negative comments gaining a significant number of likes/upvotes. Thing the lead to softie creators who can't handle negative comments deactivating the comment section altogether.

spacepirate not trying to censor anything or stop freedom of speech as another poster mentioned. People are allowed to say whatever they want (within reason). I’m just saying that having the ability to downvote on people’s feedback of a scene serves zero purpose other than to put people off giving any feedback in the first place or to push people to just go with the majority of posters who are only a tiny but vocal fraction of the membership.
They have their own statistics to show which scenes are doing well and which aren’t. 10 people downvoting someone’s comment makes no difference to them. It just makes it a less welcoming place to be.
They don’t allow us to downvote their scenes, rightly or wrongly so why do they allow us to downvote people’s opinions of that scene? Does anyone in the forum feel censored because they can’t downvote posts? Although I’m sure some of you wish you could right now!
Anyway, I’ll leave it there rather than this go on forever. It was just a thought prompted by that nonsensical downvoting of that post. Either way, I will continue to give my honest opinion and get downvoted to hell!

petermc when I see you speak up on similar negative vote behavior for scenes you’re critical of and not just your constant push of more anal anal anal I’m more likely to take this seriously. As others have pointed out, this is clearly much more about your proven agenda of anal than anything else. You’ve wrapped it in another banner but it’s pretty obvious regardless. Forgive me if my eyes are rolling into the back of my head. Also, could we refrain from using the word weaponized? My god, the most overused word of the year
Downvotes happen bro , someitmes they are irrational sometimes people just pile on , if the worst thing to happen to you today is seeing that you got mass downvoted then I think you're doing ok in life.
Move on we all get downvoted sometimes.
I think a lot of times people write something like " this anal doggy is ok, but you keep shooting it standing up which is the worst way to shoot it?
People disagree that that is a bad way to shoot doggy. Maybe they like the way it was shot. So they click downvote. It's the easiest way to say I don't agree with this statement.
I can't speak for any other comment section but the recent Bella Rolland/Maddy May scene definitely had a weird amount of downvoted comments.
It wouldn't be noticeable except people were downvoting completely harmless, almost neutral comments. I'm legitimately confused. There's no logic to it which is baffling.
If you're not allowed to dislike a comment you shouldn't be allowed to like it either. Likes without dislikes is a system based on propaganda and does nothing but sow distrust.
Some people downvote rudeness, some downvote people that dont think the sun shines out of certain directors or studios asses.
Some of you go out of your way to downvote every comment made by certain users.
In general the majority of comments are either the same few people blowing smoke up the directors asses, or you all ripping each other new arseholes over preference and likes/dislikes. Then you wonder why you get downvoted when people see you making comments that others disagree with.
Maybe if a certain few users and staff cut out the snarky comments and tried to make the comments section and forums more welcoming then the bitching culture that is SLR might becaome a nicer place to hangout. Instead of alienating users new and old.

petermc I’m just saying that having the ability to downvote on people’s feedback of a scene serves zero purpose
I cannot see what is so hard for you to understand.
Comment: Great scene! More like this!
I agree with you = upvote. Yeah! I want more too!
I disagree with you = downvote. What's this guy on about? I don't want more of this!
It is just another form of feedback, and adds to accurate ratings of a scene. Three or four people comment that they like it, and like each other posts - it looks like there is universal agreement that this is what the audience wants. Same three or four people comment that they like it, and they each get downvoted to -20 means that yeah, they like it and a fair number of people disagree with them. From your comments on that scene, this thread, and elsewhere, you seem to be annoyed that others disagree with commenters you agree with. Sorry? But that's life. I get downvoted plenty, but I won't start a thread to whine about it. Thinking that the "anti-anal gang" is "out to get you" is a pretty narcississtic take, don't you think? It can't be that others have oppositely strong opinions about what you want, it must be that they're "out to getcha" and "must be stopped" because it's "toxic".
Maybe we can send trigger warnings if your comment is downvoted, so you dont have to see.
i really enjoy the forum and the humor we all have man imagine if you didnget a notification for trigger warnings
i would be dying from laughter
Downvoting serves a purpose. It's not necessarily toxic. I enjoy anal but I know why people down vote my comments: they don't and they want the creators to know so they make more content targeted for them. If my time was worth so little I would go and down vote every comment on every vaginal only scene as well. But I have better things to do with my time than trying to get content creators to target me every time.
But the forum does need something, allow us to block toxic people who don't even bother to read but come here to argue. If you don't read, and you're arguing, it's pretty obvious to everyone but you that you're the idiot losing the argument. I bet this guy yells to get his way at home. Spacepirate, I hope your life improves.
