Can someone please explain to me why the following comment (not mine, I hasten to add) can possibly have a -10 thumbs down rating:

:I have been waiting impatiently for this since I first saw it in the upcoming tab. For me this is perfect casting. Excited to watch it.

It’s like this weird pathetic gang mentality to downvote any positive comment on an anal scene because these babies can’t accept any scene that isn’t what they want.

Is it time to consider removing the option to downvote comments if it’s going to be used in this manner on a post that cannot be construed as offensive or negative in any way? Maybe people should be allowed to give their feedback in peace without others reviewing their review. Anything actually offensive or insulting can be flagged but I think the whole thumbs up and thumbs down thing is being abused to fit certain peoples agenda. I have no idea if it’s actually organised downvoting or just 10 individuals who have independently taken it upon themselves to downvote a completely normal post but it certainly feels organised.

petermc changed the title to Unnecessary Downvoting On Scene Comments .

you cant call others babies who have an agenda when youve created a thread to complain about something this insignificant simply because it doesnt fit your own agenda 🤷‍♂️

Can you actually read? I literally said it wasn’t my comment that got downvoted. This is just an example of a comment that has no reason to have any downvotes but it’s at -10 as there is a group of people going into scenes they don’t like and just downvoting any positive comments. That’s not normal, it’s toxic behaviour.

I get downvoted a lot, it’s often pathetic but it doesn’t bother me and won’t stop me giving my honest opinion. Some aren’t as thick skinned though and this type of behaviour would put some off posting. I just give my own feedback, I don’t go around downvoting other people’s comments or gang up on others.

There’s literally no need to have a thumbs down option. The scenes don’t have a thumbs down option, the forum doesn’t have a thumbs down option, even YouTube removed it or certainly removed the count showing how many thumbs down reactions there were. What’s the purpose of it other than to give people the opportunity to make others feel bad about what they said? If people don’t like a scene, they’re perfectly entitled to feedback and make their own post about their issues with it. It’s too easy to just click thumbs down on people’s positive feedback.

well it looks like youre pointing at one downvoted comment that wasnt yours just to try support your argument when this is really about your own comments getting downvoted. as you said, yours are frequently being downvoted. the mere existance of this thread clearly shows that it does bother you.. despite your claim to the contrary.

youre cherry picking examples that fit your agenda and ignoring others that dont e.g. reddit

spacepirate it supports my argument as there is nothing remotely disagreeable about that post and yet it’s -10. It’s proof that the function is being abused in a way that was not intended.

I have a different take than many others on here when it comes to VR porn so I can accept that many of my opinions are not held by others and will garner some disagreement. That’s fine, I’ve been here for a long time now, so if genuine disagreement really bothered me, I would not continue to post things that I know many will disagree with. I can take it. I obviously like it when my posts gain approval more than when they don’t but I feel it’s important to say what I want to say so a few thumbs down clicks won’t stop me. The post I brought up though maybe brings into focus that not all the downvotes on people’s posts are genuine, there are a group of people indiscriminately downvoting anything positive about anything they don’t like. This guy hadn’t even seen the scene yet, just said that he liked the girls and was looking forward to watching it. What’s to disagree with there?

Yes, I have an agenda, if you like, as far as I’d like to see some more hardcore scenes in VR. I don’t go into every girlfriend simulation scene and downvote all the positive comments though. I usually don’t bother commenting at all on scenes I’m not into. I also like some intimate vanilla scenes and give positive feedback on them, how does that fit with my “agenda”. It’s not some toxic thing with me. I’m not looking to eradicate all vanilla porn, just have some variety.

If people don’t like, for example, anal scenes, don’t watch them, don’t click ❤️ on them. The site will soon get the message that they’re unpopular. You don’t need to crap on others for liking a scene that you don’t. At least make these 10 people actually post their reasons for crapping on that guys post, not just let them get away with an easy single click.

spacepirate youre cherry picking examples that fit your agenda and ignoring others that dont e.g. reddit

How is using SLR itself as an example cherry picking? It’s the site we’re on. You cannot downvote this post in the forum or even downvote the scene but you can downvote a post in the scene comments. Why?

i have seen something like this in a couple scenes i posted on on the actual SLR scene pages and it was like 4-5 negative votes for several comments that werent even much context to them like “great scene” -10 lol , “great” -5 🤣 i just hit the thumbs up to at least counter those scenes but if i really wanted to be funny i’d make multiple accounts just to troll those comments 🤷🏻‍♂️ but i totally get what you are talking about. Post a comment with “yes.” and end up with -20 downvotes 🤣🤣🤣🥲

I gotta support @petermc and agree with him about this. I also noticed lately a trend where people would downvote pretty much any positive comment about an anal scene. There is some anal hater gang that will systematically downvote every post about it.
As @petermc says, I agree this is toxic and nonsense, I don't think it would come to my mind to downvote every comment praising vaginal only scenes, yet I don't like vag scenes. Same goes with threesomes and BGG+, I won't downvote every post here from people posting positive feedbacks yet I don't like threesomes.
I think people are free to post they don't like anal scenes but i guess it's always hard for them to justify these since they are too rare anyway.
I guess these people can't bear that 1 scene out of trillions has 5min of anal 😃 Indeed, babies!

I appreciate the support but I don’t want this just to be pigeonholed as some anal discussion. It’s about downvoting being weaponised by toxic groups of people rather than a genuine indicator of people’s feelings. If we can’t trust that it’s genuine, why bother having it?

I am I-don't-even-know-what-downvoting-is years old and I am both surprised and dismayed to learn that there is a battle of the thumbs going on out there between rival body orifice gangs that is actually hurting people's feelings. Just thinking out loud and following the SLR spirit: Maybe it would appease the anal haters renaming the procedure rectal wellness?

SchnuppiLilac I get that you’re being facetious but no one’s feelings are hurt and a battle would suggest this is two sided. There’s no rivals here, this is just a group of entitled assholes trying to spoil other people’s enjoyment.

It might be worth considering making the down/up voter of scene comments visible.

petermc why do we need to go and censor or ban every little thing that hurts someones fragile ego or feelings?

honestly.. getting upset over a dozen downvotes is peak first world problems.

petermc I am genuinly trying to understand where this hostility towards anal is coming from. I mean if I don't like something, I just skip the part and be done with it. But now after you called those guys assholes, I think I'm on to something 😃

              @petermc
I believe that removing downvotes in general is not a good idea, and if anything, it makes ratings and comments 'less credible'. I remember criticizing BDK for removing the rating system a year ago for the same reason - lack of credibility. The same goes for SLR for not having downvotes on scenes. In my opinion, Wankzvr's rating system, which shows the percentage of likes and dislikes, is the best way to provide an accurate representation of user feedback.

Removing downvotes on comments may not necessarily resolve the issue. Let's take YouTube as an example since you already mentioned it. Did they remove dislikes cuz they think that dislikes on "Baby by JB" and similar aren't genuine ?? No. It's clear they did it to prevent potential harm, but at the same time, it's also restricting freedom of speech. Which I personally find pretty absurd.

If downvotes are hidden/removed, it could only result in more negative comments being expressed in the comment section, with those negative comments gaining a significant number of likes/upvotes. Thing the lead to softie creators who can't handle negative comments deactivating the comment section altogether.

spacepirate not trying to censor anything or stop freedom of speech as another poster mentioned. People are allowed to say whatever they want (within reason). I’m just saying that having the ability to downvote on people’s feedback of a scene serves zero purpose other than to put people off giving any feedback in the first place or to push people to just go with the majority of posters who are only a tiny but vocal fraction of the membership.

They have their own statistics to show which scenes are doing well and which aren’t. 10 people downvoting someone’s comment makes no difference to them. It just makes it a less welcoming place to be.

They don’t allow us to downvote their scenes, rightly or wrongly so why do they allow us to downvote people’s opinions of that scene? Does anyone in the forum feel censored because they can’t downvote posts? Although I’m sure some of you wish you could right now!

Anyway, I’ll leave it there rather than this go on forever. It was just a thought prompted by that nonsensical downvoting of that post. Either way, I will continue to give my honest opinion and get downvoted to hell!
