There's indeed an optimal bitrate for certain resolutions. And guess what, 30,000 kbit/s is well under the recommendation which is usually around 60,000 kbit/s for anything about 4k.
And yes, you do gain extra quality. Maybe not everyone but it's there. Some people also claim they don't see a difference between 30 or 60 or 120 FPS in games. Doesn't mean that there is no difference though.
A higher bitrate is especially benefitial in scene with a lot of background movement, like in outdoor scenes with foliage in the background. The picture is smoother with a higher bitrate. With a static background the difference isn't that obvious though, that's correct.
doublevr You Sire are either blind or stupid.
Let's make a deal. I don't insult you but you don't insult me either. People can disagree without calling names. You expect respect from other so apply the same standards to yourself.
doublevr Passthrough, interactive scripts, groundbreaking 8K streaming app, BYOJ, JAV are super popular stuff no one else is anywhere close. Funny how you just generalize your own projections and "speaking" for all the customers.
I never spoke for "all" customers. Maybe read my posts again and check your own projections...
I do agree that these are likely features some people requested although quite a few of them were not introduced in the last couple months, that's probably only passthrough and JAV.
doublevr Tell you what, no one really needs unlimited downloads or HS 😂
There obviously are people who "need" or better want that. Some of them have written in this thread. Pretty sad that you accuse me of generalizaton while doing the same thing in the same post.
doublevr Other studios likely don't know what they are doing.
I think it's the other way round. Either you guys don't really know what you're doing or you're trying to fool us. You're relying on some algorithm instead of actually knowning something about it? I'd rather think that you cut the bitrate in order to spare bandwith for streaming but either way it's not ideal. I agree that you should make some comparison scenes again but please make sure to use material that has a lot of stuff going on on screen. Like I said above, the difference is much better visible when there is a lot of movement, especially in the background.
doublevr While we don't plan to cut off downloads or lower them any further we ultimately focus on Streaming.
That's why you'll never excel on quality. Your planned 10k stuff won't work in the best configuration for streaming anyway. I know that streaming is your pet peeve but you should maybe just accept that not everyone is happy with the compromises it requires. And no, that's not just on your customers who might have a lacking internet connection.
doublevr Let everyone be entitled to their own opinion. We know what we do is right.
So you don't want any feeback and you don't want to talk with your customers since you're already totally convinced that everything you do is the best way of doing it?! So why even posting here? Just tell everyone from the get go that you don't give a fuck. Well, it's not like most people didn't knew your stance on that but some of us fools still think that there could be hope for at least some fruitful discussion...
doublevr let's both of us not engage into negative discussion.
With @Rakly3 a discussion about things is actually possible without things getting personal for no reason at all. Like I said above, people can disagree about things without being personally attacked every time and calling people names and whatever. It's not that hard to stay professional, even when we have a different opinions. That's the basis formula for a working discussion culture...
