Thanks, I'm excited for it! Especially hardcoding the settings as it could be frustrating toying with it to get a good passthrough effect.

Welp, idk...but i think the tweaks yall made, made it hard to get in a good passthrough quickly

I use to be able to...this was my method

every video I play I use the passthrough in this order

Turn on passthrough
Turn saturation on
Adjust color to about 10 and move it down sum till passthrough looked good enough

Rarely i used the hue, or brightness, I only used them if my first method didn't work so well and that was due to many colors or objects in the room, at that point I would I just find another scene that worked well with my first method, if it was I scene I really wanted a good passthrough then I would "fiddling options" to adjust the hue to find the room color.

It worked well, but it varies from video to video

Now with the new update
That method is not working, now it seems like I HAVE TO find the color for every scene.

I'm gonna keep messing with it, maybe it gotta warm up first 🤷‍♂️

And also the new update messed up sum streaming options, many other vr sites I was able to click on the download and the videos would stream, NOT ANYMORE 👎

all sites I use to be able to stream by hitting the download link to stream are not working. 🥺

Anyway this my review with new update, If i find sum positives I will report back...

I tried noir video passthrough worked good, but it was a black background so naturally there's need to be fiddling with the settings to find the color.

By default passthrough settings are set to black color and without changing settings such as hue or saturation it wont work properly on the videos with background other then black.
The new passthrough functionality is the same as before.
Same settings remained and more precision added to opacity (falloff) and color range by increasing value from 100 to 1000
The only difference, which i think is an advantage is the color pallet for those who are more comfortable with it
Both methods do the same either you twicking blue bars on Hue and Saturation or using color pallete.

My previous videos that I had passthrough on, the setting are still saved but the passthrough not working as it should with my settings I had it set to, now I have to adjust the options to find the right color...

Thats the fiddling that turnt users off to the passthrough, they didnt enjoy the "finding for the color"

And I would communicate to them my method
Turn on passthrough
Turn on saturation
Adjust color to ten and move it down sum

That was the easiest and quickest way to get a good passthrough, it varied from video to video I found many videos that worked this way, but the videos that didn't work...well THEN I had to find the right color which I rarely did cuz at that point I would just watch with no passthrough or just move on to another video.

Now I'm forced to find the right color even if it's a white background room. Now I'm fiddling on every video. Not good, this turns users off cuz I felt the frustration they felt fiddling for color on every video.

Before, well you know, i already explained my execution about my go to easiest and fastest method of choice before the update.

I like the passthrough button on the player, thought maybe yall put the passthrough options on the player but I guess not, options setting should be on the player too, have em on both the side menu and player

Oh, that square is gone now when ever I HAD to use the hue, id slide the hue to find a wall color and the square would be there where I could see it up against a color wall so I could match it to that color...yeah not there any more, kind of a bummer.

Ima keep messing with tho takes time to find a good comfort level, right now comfort level low.

Before with black backgrounds I just had to turn on the passthrough and it worked simple, it still does

But also before with non black backgrounds all I had to do is turn saturation on, and adjust the color, worked well with alot of videos, very rarely I had to fiddle with the hue or brightness, now I'm fiddling cuz the majority of scene are not black backgrounds.

Oh, and the opacity...i use to just use it to smooth out edges, now its making the models darker cus i guess its on a 1000, before a simple -1 to 99 helped smoothing the edges out if it needed it.

Also I'm getting more passthrough on bodies more now when I have to put the hue color on white and adjusting the color setting.

Mind you I'm using passthrough on cg rcg parts.

I like the chrome wheel tho, easier to find a color of a wall background if have to use it.

Before I rarely didn't use it now I'm constantly using it to find white or tan colors, "most wall colors"

I'm sure if I find a scene with a red wall it will work good.

At that point my go to prevouis easy method before the update will not work on red...then I would use the chrome color hue and brightness settings.

Now I'm using hue/brightness on every video along with the other settings 😔

Ima still mess with it, tho...I'm looking for that comfort I had before the update. 🤷‍♂️

Found a Positive!

I notice less artifacts or ruff edges on body's and objects, but for sum reason the bodies will have spotted passthrough on them.

Like the full body will look perfect with no ruff edges but half a face or a boob will have a passthrough hole.

I think the the chrome circle needs white, the square inside I can chose white but it could be like a white from a color group. Might need pure white 🤷‍♂️

I set the square inside the circle to white but it doesn't work well. Models start to get passthrough spots on there body the more I keep taking white out from the picture, but I do notice the edges of body's stay straight with no ruff edges, wouldn't have to use the opacity to smooth out ruff edges.

But I can see how this should work, would be simple and easy but the passthrough not working well.

It takes colors out good but its easier to find the color I want to get out but it also will take skin color out along with the color I choose.

Does it a lot with white. 🤷‍♂️

just wanna say thank you guys for working on this stuff. a little feedback on the update, i agree that the skin tone gets affected way more with the new algorithm. before if you created a green or blue chroma, and adjust the color range, the passthrough would remove all blues, greens, purples, blacks, greys, and whites last, before affecting skin tones. now that is not the case. It is hard to find one color that will hit all the background colors prior to affecting the skin color with the new update.

I think one approach would allow for a layered approach for the user. where you have layer 1 (i.e. remove blues), set color & color range, save. Then set layer two, remove whites, adjust color range, then save, ect

That's what I notice too, I tried first doing this method,
Turn on passthrough
Put brightness to max
Then adjust the color, it look like it wants to work but like u say the pass through would effect skin, especially if there's camera light on skin, like the passthrough working to hard or something.

Seems like more work to find a good passthrough

Welp, guess this my final review

I tried finding that comfort level I had with the previous version, but never did 🥺

I notice brunette hair got effect way Less, that's a pluse 👍

I noticed Bodie edges were less ruffer,, that's a pluse 👍

But the options settings take more work now to find a good passthrough, I mean you can find one, just one scene I found got a good soild pass threw, but damn that took sum time ⏲️ 👎

The passthrough I got on that video I could of easily got it with the previous version by my simple go to method for every video. I'm broken record

Turn on passthrough
Turn on saturation, didn't matter how much cus you were just basically turning it on
Then adjust color to -10 or more and slide back down till you got a decent passthrough...

Which i got on many videos with previous version with that quik method.

I was trying to find a easy method with this new version but I never found it....🤷‍♂️

Just messing with the settings the whole time 🤷‍♂️

Edit: I know this version supose to work good with black backgrounds, and will varie from video to video but the previous version worked good with many videos and with black backgrounds or green screen
And was faster getting into a good passthrough.

This version I can find a color fast (usually trying white walls)
But body skin gets effect when trying to get a good pass threw.

I like that trying to give us more control and the colour wheel is a good step in the right direction, but I hate these changes. Was hyped for this update and just disappointed 🙁

I had around 20 favourite videos with passthrough working very well and now after mucking around for 5-10mins on multiple clips, I can't for the life of me get anything to work - not even plain ones with pure black backgrounds like Noir scenes. Very painful and tedious, can't get anything to work like before - I have no idea what I'm doing now. Used to be able to try and get things working just by tweaking a few things.

Is there anyway for me to revert to the previous SLR app version?

Also I think the colour wheel and the whole process would be a lot better if you could:

select colour wheel
pick a colour by selecting it in the video, colour gets removed
repeat this as many times as you want for multiple colours

Is this possible?

Really pleased SLR is focusing on improving passthrough, but this feels like a step backwards @doublevr @Sandi_SLR

Yeah the new settings don't work at all the way they're supposed to. It's awesome they added the color wheel, but when you select the color it seems to just take out everything with it. I think if you had two color wheels that would be ideal, where you can select a color to remove....and ALSO select a color to remain unaffected by any changes. That way you can remove the background, but then select the skin tone and clothing color of the model so those don't get changed.

Ideally these setting should be figured out and applied automatically to each individual video but that's obviously a shitload of work and effort to program I'm sure. For now though, the settings need to be a little more nuanced.

I also think having Saturation, Color Range and Brightness is unnessecary. There should only need to be the removed color range and falloff. I think the way it is now is just super confusing and not intuitive.
