  • Adding comments removal for content creators

Content creators will be able to remove any particular comment and ban users from commenting for their channel.

Hope it works for everyone

Not sure that will be a popular move.

Sure, we can all be assholes at times, but allowing content creators to remove all negative feedback just makes things boring and less of a community.

I’ve never found anyone on here who is a problem and obviously just saying negative stuff for the sake of it. We all want the scenes to be good but will criticise if we perceive there to be problems with a scene that we were looking forward to watching.

After saying all that I don’t watch the vast majority of scenes so am not in the comments on most of them. Maybe there are more issues than I’m aware of.

doublevr ha ha, that studio comes under the vast majority of scenes that I don’t watch! Didn’t realise there were issues there. That’s not a criticism of the content btw, there’s plenty of stuff I do check out from a select few studios but, as with any entertainment service, I skip past the majority of it as I know it’s not for me before even clicking on it.

allowing creators to selectively delete comments or ban users is a really bad idea... youtube style approach where they can only disable all comments is a bit better.

is this feature just for pervrt?

Was this only added because of the Pervrt guy? Lol. Guess the only comments we will see now are positive (except from the creators who appreciate some critique).

As a creator, I like having the option of blocking bad faith complainers (though I haven't had that problem so far...most of y'all are awesome).

The way I see it, any creator who wants feedback wouldn't block because of constructive criticism, and any creator who blocks constructive criticism was never going to listen to it anyway. So ideally this is a rarely used (but still useful) feature to keep the comment sections welcoming and helpful.

I don't think permanent bans are good for honest feedback. People who care about that communication channel will be extremely cautious and hesitant to tell the truth about bad scenes. Too much power in the hands of a single individual.

SLR needs to strike a balance with keeping users happy and creators happy. The most vocal users may comment, but whether those comments make or break the user experience for the masses is the big question. On the other side, if a creator/studio for any reason--even petty--becomes so uncomfortable with some comments/posters that they decide to pull out of SLR, it could end up being a worse thing for all parties.

ZENRA A 2-4 weeks ban should be enough to make creators happy. In objectively extreme cases the user should be banned from SLR, not from a single channel.

I have a mixed feelings about this... I mean, from consumers' perspective, if content creators abuse this, it would make it a lot harder to look for good content that people actually want to watch, especially for the people who doesn't have premium accounts.

If they want to sell their content to more people, they obviously need to build some thick skin, and take feedback that actually can help improve their future scenes. But if they don't want to listen for whatever reasons, give them option to disable their comment sections (similar to YouTube). I think this is a much better approach. However, it won't feel like a community anymore... Plus, expecting to see improvements would be meaningless. 😔

On the flip side, deleting comments can be a good thing. Toxicity won't help anyone. Of course, I'm talking about those comments that doesn't really help the community and not the constructive criticisms; comments like, "She shouldn't be a pornstar, so fucking ugly..." or "Your content sucks! Why are you even here? Shutdown this studio!". Stuff like these can lead to tragic and sad moments; suicide (yes, you read that right), studios leaving SLR, etc.

        • People enter the adult industry for all sorts of different reasons. And sometimes, it's not all about money (over the years, I watched / read lots of interviews, retirements, and tweets from sex workers, so I'm not just saying random things). Perhaps, she just want to feel sexy, or feel good about her sexuality and appearance; negative comments combined with low self-esteem are also some of the reasons why "enhancements" or makeups plays a role in porn (in my opinion, and based on what I had seen and read).

        • But, if this is how things are going to be, I feel like there should be an additional voting system in order to delete negative comments, rather than deleting those comments without warnings or something. And the community should be able to vote and participate with the deletion process; the option for deleting comments should only be available to heavily down voted comments, so it won't be abuse. 🤔

And before I end this, let's look at it from a slightly different scenario. Imagine people found out that some sellers on Amazon (or whatever websites you frequently visit) deletes reviews / low ratings they don't want to see. How would people feel? Are you still going to buy from that seller? Isn't that manipulative? Personally, I think it would make things a lot worse for them, and it will most likely hurt their sales even more.

n4meless8 for abusive stuff, they could bring in a way of flagging or reporting comments to get them taken down and the guilty party banned from posting anything in future. I have no problem with them removing insulting/racist/discriminatory posts.

Putting my own opinion aside for a moment.

It isn't really clear for users of the site, but content creators are fully responsible for their own content. SLR doesn't even have the right to alter any of the videos. The best way to compare it would be YouTube videos. Here the youtubers are also fully responsible for their own content, including how they manage their comments.

I'm not saying SLR is like YouTube, I'm just making the comparison about responsibility.

I can't say I'm the slightest bit surprised. I got banned from commenting because, according to someone at SLR, i used the word "fuck" in my comment, even though it was directed at a room. Quite literally banned from video comments because I said "fucking office". SLR is kinda famous for deleting and banning for things they disagree with, hell the owner got in that huge fight on reddit. I imagine this very comment will get deleted or me banned.

bobbytables I highly doubt you got banned for using the word 'fuck'.
There are studios with the word in their name and plenty of videos with the word in their titles.

Rakly3 I was literally told by SLR staff it's because i was being vulgar using phrases like "fucking" to refer to the sets. Specifically told that was the reason.

bobbytables I think they meant the attitude, not the specific word you used.

One of the “unhelpful” comments in the example studio thread linked above was mine - but only when taken in the context of that single comment. That producer has a long history of combative communication in more than just the SLR forum. He’s been awful on Reddit for a very long time. Congrats to those who watch/enjoy his content. I personally find it terrible — it’s actually a funny irony that one of his channels is Terrible this, Terrible that.

In any case, yes, the block filters introduced on the web SLR platform are useful in this regard. Look forward to full implementation on the headset app too. Hopefully channel/scene block statistics are shared with producers as its own form of data/feedback.
