dango789 of course it’s better for consumers if you just pay for one site and get all the VR porn produced. It’s not particularly a healthy sign for the industry though if it can only sustain one site (I know there is more than one, I’m just saying, if everything ended up on SLR as you seem to want). It’s also not great for getting a variety of content, especially more extreme content that SLR may not be comfortable with.
Comparing with Netflix though, yes there was a time when they were the only streamer in town but there was also far less content then. Disney wasn’t making Star Wars shows or MCU shows until they got their own streaming service for example. Those shows wouldn’t exist if Netflix were still the only streaming service. The Boys wouldn’t exist, Rings Of Power wouldn’t exist. We get a hell of a lot more content now and, yes, if you want to watch all of it, it gets expensive to subscribe to multiple services but at least people have more to choose from.
Porn is the same. In 2d porn there’s an almost infinite number of sites to choose from and pretty much every (legal) fetish is catered to somewhere. That is very much not the case in VR where there is a minuscule number of sites all making very similar vanilla content and having SLR hoover everyone up under their umbrella would just exacerbate that further.
If you love the VR content that currently gets made then yeah, it would be great for you if it was all available under one roof for $15 per month as that would save you a ton of money. If, like me, you want the VR porn industry to get big enough to support more sites and eventually generate more variety of content, having SLR completely dominate is not the best thing.
I think SLR is great for fledgling studios to get their stuff out there but you’d hope, at some point, those studios grow, make a name for themselves and eventually leave the nest to set up on their own. This doesn’t really seem to be happening at the moment which suggests the current system isn’t really working for everyone.
