This is exactly the point I wanted to express in my first post.

But I felt the same way before. I also download everything. Just to have in case a studio leaves. At some point I only downloaded the videos that I had already seen and that I liked. Until I had to admit to myself that I would probably never look at them again. The selection of content that I haven't seen yet is too big.

Just add up the costs you would have to spend on hard drives to store all these videos. And if you want it to be redundant, then you need a NAS. This has to run 24/7. Think of the electricity costs or rather the environment. If you don't have a redundant system and only use cheap consumer hard drives, data loss can occur. And so we're back where we stared.

My advice: Be realistic with you usage behavior. Then most people here will see that it makes no sense to download all the stuff.

          the script download limit is actually insane. Stuff like limiting script downloads to 3 is the reason why piracy crops up. adding artificial limits pretty much 100% of the time will encourage piracy and sharing of content off-site, no matter how much you can say "piracy bad". People genuinely want to access content legally, but when you do stuff like locking out paying subscribers it makes it very tough.

            Bought a lifetime premium bundle a few months ago, pretty bummed that so many scripts are going to be removed from streaming. With the 3 script dl per month limit it's impossible to get them all now with such short notice. And buying them kind of defeats the reason why I bought the bundle in the first place 🙁

                doublevr there's also a pay-per-video option. I however instead went with a subscription so i didn't have to pay-per. How do you not see how insane it is to be like "don't want to pay per video? here's an unlimited video subscription. Want to upgrade to interactive on your subscription? sure! OH WAIT NO NOW YOU HAVE TO PAY-PER AGAIN BECAUSE FUCK YOUR SUBSCRIPTION". That's a shitty business model and frankly is a bit of a middle-finger to subscription customers.

                        bobbytables SLR Premium and SLR interactive script subscriptions come with unlimited content via streaming. If you want unlimited content via downloads, then you can purchase individual videos or scripts accordingly after you've hit your 3 script downloads/month or 30 video downloads per 144 hours.

                        What you're complaining about sounds like it's the fact that you're not getting unlimited content in the specific way that you want it, which is more of a "you" problem since SLR is a subscription service and AFAIK no one is forcing you to subscribe.

                            I appreciate you told us in advance. Also the warning on the web page is a nice touch. I imagine a lot of subscribers don't read the forum.

                            You could still make a bundle sale for scripts for the creators. Like 30 scripts for 50 or something. Just brainstorming. But it's probably not enough time to implement in this short time frame anyway.

                            petermc I’d have to respectfully disagree. I believe the more content SLR has, the better it is for both SLR consumers.

                            Think about Netflix and video streaming when it first came out. With one subscription, you had access to a vast library of interesting shows and movies. Most subscribers were satisfied.

                            Nowadays, good movies and shows are split between so many different streaming services. As a consumer, you get a worse experience. Even if you pay a much higher amount for all the different subscriptions, you have to go back and forth between different providers to find the movie you want.

                            The same logic can be applied to YouTube. I’m glad it has such a large share of video content. It saves me from looking through 5 sites to find what I’m looking for.

                            I believe it is in the best interests of both SLR and subscribers to sign on as many good studios as possible.

                                justsomedude101 are you suggesting you don't understand the valley of a difference between "we've capped the video download limit at 30 per 144 hours because that's upwards of 300gb which is an insane load on the servers" and "you can only download 3 files that are literal kilobytes every month"? Because you're either oversimplifying and throwing away the massive detail of difference between the two intentionally because you don't want to acknowledge how they are nowhere near the same, or you have an extremely binary train of thought which is a very dangerous thing to have for an admin. either way "no one is forcing you to subscribe" is an incredibly shitty response from a staff member. Yeesh no wonder every forum SLR shows up on people have problem with the staff.

People have a right to be upset because of your arbitrary and shitty treatment of paying subscribers, and tone policing comments that quite literally affect no one does nothing but make you look unnecessarily defensive and authoritarian. People have a right to voice their opinions, to the degree that some countries even have laws against suppressing feedback, but sure be mad at me for calling it a shitty business practice. I imagine this comment will get deleted or i'll be banned based on your response here.

                                        You complain about "oversimplifying" but then minimalize interactive scripts down to being nothing but "kilobytes" of data, ignoring the countless hours that the scripters put into them to make them something unique and special or that the scripts they create are how they earn their livelihood.

                                        Your main complaint seems to be that you can't get everything you want in unlimited quantities immediately. Sorry, hopefully you can find another service that provides you with this, because that's not how our subscription service works. But in the meantime if you'd like more scripts for example, you can consider purchasing them individually, since that way the scripters who worked on them can continue earning a living while crafting more "kilobytes".
