The change from 10 downloads a day to 5 downloads a day was inevitable and necessary. What was not inevitable and necessary and why SLR requires a better business manager:

  • Making the changes without warning
  • Not rolling them out with the monthly re-subscription period
  • Doing so without an apology or explanation as if folks wouldn't notice
  • Changing from a 72 to a 144 hour download window at the same time

[deleted] Why inevitable and necessary though? According to one of the SLR mods above it will only impact 1% of users so what does it achieve? Even 10 videos a day was lame and significantly smaller than e.g. POVR or Naughty America.

Frankly this whole thing is totally dishonest, I joined less than a week ago at 10 vids per day and would never have bothered at 5 vids a day given the price. Thank you for your earlier post about how Epoch and Credit Card companies deal with this sort of thing. I think I'll be contacting Epoch.

If SLR is having problems with bandwidth here are ways to rectify the issue

      • Change the Studio File options from 150 GB to 40 GB. I've never downloaded anything above 40 GB and am not alone.
      • Create peak and off-peak downloading hours. It works for the power companies.
      • Reduce the top download speed, but do so sensibly. There appears to be throttling at some points for 300 KBS. Few users would notice a change at 2 MB, but 300 KBS is so slow that every user will notice.
      • Make a deal with Internet Download Manager so that users can have access to the software necessary to use the site and not be forced to download the same files over and over again. Some files I have downloaded five times because each time there is an error and corruption. IDM mitigates the issue, but the problem is still there.

They will give you a refund if you include a screenshot of the advertisement and point to the policy change. The refund will be for the remaining days, figured mathematically. You may have to complain multiple times.

Same thing happened to me with BackroomCastingCouch - ExploitedCollegeGirls. They changed their policy by not allowing downloads at all and killing (temporarily) the three sites of their network. I later discovered that they did so because, notoriously, for a period of ten years they accidentally were including the full real names of their models in the EXIF / metadata of the videos; the guys at PornWikiLeaks posted the stuff all over the darkweb! Anyway, much as the immediate change to streaming was necessary and justifiable they still broke the contract and all users were eligible for refunds; they lost a large, very large number of regular subscribers. I had just opted to try it for a month because I thought Amber Moore was hot.

[deleted] this is a good shout on file size - I got confused at first by the option to choose h.264 and h.265 so at first downloaded the one with the larger file size assuming it meant better quality, they should just get rid of the h.264 option if they are having bandwidth issues.

          LondonGodFather inevitable and necessary

          Of course "inevitable and necessary"...

SLR is based in America and last I checked -- I'm not American -- the American political machine has gone full meltdown...

There is inflation at record highs, gas costs are through the roof, the current gov't lost 85 billion in weapons in the last year alone in Afghanistan, and has already spent 65 billion stoking war against Russia and rejecting a viable peace deal ... the President is LITERALLY talking with dead people and making such gaffs as telling the world he has cancer ... For the poor Americans, the POOR Americans are going to get a lot poorer, and probably more violent (did I mention record crime stats?).

SLR had no choice but to do this in order to stay in business. It was predictable as of a month ago.

They just should have acknowledged the necessity, apologized, and kept the changes minimal (no additional changes to the download period, etc).

EDIT: I'll add a prediction. After November SLR will need to make more changes, although they don't realize this yet. For the past six months gas costs have been kept artificially low for their mid-terms. The Pres has been lowering costs by draining the National Reserve. When that Reserve runs dry, or when it's not politically expedient to keep drawing from it, prices will really sky rocket. Inflation may hit 20 to 30%. Stuff in America is delivered by trucks. When truckers have to pay $1,500 for diesel prices will universally increase.

[deleted] such a weird reply lol. This is a porn site. But for the record I just paid 3.29 a gallon for gas in a major city where prices were crazy before.

doublevr "it's not going to happen. Just that." in 2019 you were offering unlimited downloads, then it went down to 50, then 30. If when you made those changes people had said "I worry it will one day go down to 15" I bet you'd have given a similar response.

Unless you're pirating porn, porn creation is subject to factors of the market economy.

Why is gas cheaper today than three months ago? It's not because Americans found new sources of gas, it's because for the first time in history an American government started releasing has from the strategic reserves intended for emergencies, like wars and floods. Biden released some of the gas to the American people, to reduce the overall market price of gas (less spending for you at the pumps, temporarily) and sold some of it off to China for more spending money (yet to a company linked to his son).

As I say, I am not an American, but these decisions are not smart; they are crazy. All businesses will be hurt, even the business of porn. Simple ECON 101 market analysis...

bro you dont work for them so you wouldnt know. they havent provided any justification for the change but in any case it has nothing to do with inflation or whatever else you rambled about there. slr is based in europe too... not the usa.

Another point to make on file size would be why are some studios (cough cough SLRO) releasing scenes that are 80-120 minutes long. Who in the hell is choking the chicken for two effing hours in VR? I'm guessing nobody and I would go as far to say that the average user time for the SLR app is maybe 20-30 minutes. If bandwidth is really this much of an issue wouldn't it be beneficial to keep the videos to 45-60 minutes long?

                  doublevr
Who are you to say what customers "need" or not? You advertised an offer. That's what was paid for. That's what we expect you to deliver.

I don't order a pizza and the deliver guy shows up with the box half empty and tells me, "well this is all the pizza someone really needs. Nobody really needs 8 slices. Only 1% or 0.1% of our customers actually eats all 8 slices, so now we're just going to give everyone only 4 slices after they already paid for 8."

And if it's only 1% or 0.1% of users that regularly use the full download allotment.. then what exactly is the problem? 0.1% of users that were already limited to 30 every 3 days are putting such a strain on the system?

@someoneX made a great point on the higher download limits of competitors.. and here becoming the worst of the bunch. I paid here, because it's supposed to be the best offer of the bunch, as far as content and allowed download limits, not lagging behind everyone else. Also, about exclusive studios.. and we can only assume more and more studios will be added as the market gets bigger and more creators and users transition to VR. I saw the new 'Upcoming' section that shows the coming releases, and many days it seems there are already 5+ worth checking out. With this lower allocation, we can barely maintain, let alone catch up on older videos. 30 every 72hrs, at least some catching up can be done.. with enough room for some old and some new, but it would still take many years to get all the good ones.

30 every 72hrs is a fair enough balance.. the balance that was enticing enough to pay for.

When should I expect to see my 50% refund in my bank on my lifetime membership?

Basic monetary theory is not political. Your response required an explanation. You seemed not to understand the causes of inflation and why all prices must go up, including the price of porn. All I can say is that although I cannot speak for SLR it would take either a blind man or someone incredibly self-deceiving not to see what's going on in the world. Europe has rolling blackouts and they turn the street lights off at certain times of day. In Germany they have returned to a robust industry for firewood. Stupid decisions make stuff cost much more.

RockyMtHigh Iā€™m not gonna engage in a political debate on the website I come to to find out what movies have the best blow job angles lol.

Then shut up and pay more. Simple.

Not to be rude, but if you have a second credit card you can always use it to create a second account and ignore inflation and all its consequences....

doublevr OK and every time you lower it, it can never go higher than the new maximum, so the new data will always be a lower average than the maximum, meaning so even if 0.1% turns into 1% turns into 5%, but it only affects 5% so who cares? So that justifies lowering it further. So yes it is fair to question why we shouldn't believe it will go down to 100 per month, then 50 per month, then 30 per month, etc. Because every single time you lower it, the new data will say you can get away with it again.

Frankly, there was never a legitimate argument why lifetime shouldn't have unlimited downloads.
