  • You have 0 downloads remaining in this time period (144 hours) :/

[deleted]

144h gives you much more freedom than 24h whatever way you look at it.

Policy update affects less than 1% of users. Something we want to get fixed as it creates more harm than it does good.

I guarantee you'll have problems with the credit card companies for this. There are people on here (not me, but certainly people) who will write in to epoch and cause issues, or they will log-in to online banking and place a cancellation request (which the companies will be forced to honour b/c reps of SLR have said 30 downloads per 72 hours on the forums etc). Requests like that are what credit card companies HATE; in fact, it's why they have agreed to block porn. They don't want to return money or to use their resources disputing with customers the consequences of changed policy from a contract / agreement.

The problem with 144h is that users need to be able to keep track of when the clock starts and stops, and that presents issues and complications. It also is a concern for folks addicted to porn. They download everything immediately and then grow angry waiting for days.

Yeah, I don't think I've reached anywhere close to the 30 recently... 144h is such a long time, though, that you should have a counter for when the clock refreshes, and that may be hard to add at short notice...

The change should have been rolled out with monthly resubscription ...That's how the big companies like Google have succeeded, by changing the terms gradually and forcing users to accept new terms, not changing stuff without a pretext of consent.

For example, when I joined Facebook back in 2004 the policy said that they would NEVER sell my information or include advertisements. Zuck even gave his word to all users that it would never be done. So when they inevitably needed to sell user data to keep afloat they just posted a message to everyone saying, 'hey, we're gonna make these changes and if you don't like them you have X days to delete your acct and be gone.' Folks were forced to comply.

Also, if you are having bandwidth problems, I don't think most folks would complain if the highest download size was closer to 30 or 40 GB instead of 150. I'd love to know the stats on how many ppl actually download the 100+ GB files.

Again, no issues with the changed limit, just with the unexpected rollout and timeframe of 144h. Why not just keep 72 or set the limit at 150 per 30 day period?

I paid for lifetime 30 per 72 hours. You already purposely put in that hidden quirk that has users losing days of downloads if they don't download something in the first day of the hour counter resetting..

If you change the agreement and are now giving half the content, then give me half my money back.

State it in your advertising for new users if you're halving the content. New users can decide if they want to pay the price for that deal or not. You advertised 30 downloads every 72 hours when I paid. That's what I paid you for, that's what you need to deliver.

And don't mention that 'If we change it for one person, we have to change it sitewide for everyone' nonsense. You designed the website, forums, an app, your own studio, you're testing new innovations for passthrough and preventing going crosseyed during closeups for example.. I'm sure you can figure out how to make some users grandfathered into the 30 per 72hrs that they paid for and newer users 30 per 144hrs if they choose to pay for that after that's what's advertised to them.

Half the former amount seems like pretty drastic change in value if you bought a lifetime subscription. I get the purpose of lowering it for users that only do a one month subscription but if you have a lifetime subscription you already paid for the deal.

Lifer1998 For lifetime subscriptions the limits should be much higher IMO. That would also put the high price into better perspective.

After all, you need many years before you reach the green zone with a lifetime subscription - and changes like that don't encourage confidence to invest so far in the future. I would be really angry if I had a lifetime subscription and my downloads would have been cut by 50%.

slr: "users are downloading 30 vids in 72 hours!!! they cant even watch it all!!!!"

reality: users clicking download link because slr wont let them use a player of their own choice, skipping through a vid for a few mins to see whether its worth watching or downloading and moving on to the next vid... each time counted as a download

SLR obviously wants to squeeze out downloaders like myself and is trying to force people to stream/rent the content. I don't d/l five scenes per day anyway but it sure seems like they are doing all they can to discourage against any downloading, i.e annoying popup reminder to use the app for streaming, reducing D/L limits etc. Not everyone has a connection that is fast enough to stream 7K and 8K videos so to enjoy them we must download. I've had an annual sub here for a few years and it's done in 6 weeks, not sure if I'll renew or not now. What's to stop SLR from reducing the download limit even more to 1 or 2 vids per day in a few months time?

        Really sorry about the change.

We are doing our best to make sure you get the best service out ther

erniescar69 What's to stop SLR from reducing the download limit even more to 1 or 2 vids per day in a few months time?

It's not going to happen. Just that.

150 videos a month is a very reasonable ratio. Not even 0.1% of users ever needs more than that.

doublevr It's by far the lowest in the industry and you only get 150 videos if you use every download window to the max. With many studios exclusive on SLR we are getting to a point where it gets hard to download even those exclusives without a lot of micro management.

Second lowest should be VRBangers with 10 downloads per day (if they haven't changed that in the recent years) and then VRPorn with 20 downloads per day. POVR/WankzVR has about 15 dowloads full speed and 2MB/s after that. Maybe more bandwidth reduction at 30-50 videos per day.

BadoinkVR, 18VR, VR Cosplay X and KinkVR don't have a limit, but download links get invalid after a few hours, so you can't use download managers that easily.

Virtual Taboo, DarkRoom and VirtualRealPorn don't have limits.

It's not only about the total amount per year, but also about convenience. You've noticed that problem as well, that's why you did 30 per 144 hours instead of 5 per day. But even that will be annoying if we want to download more in vacation weeks or if we discover a new studio and want to catch up on past releases.

someoneX respectfully, what % of those 150 videos you download a month do you watch more than once? I’m just curious. That’s a lot of porn lol.

150 videos per month is enough for me, even though it's the biggest download limit of all sites i have been subscribed, but it's a worrying trend, because this is not a first time SLR have reduced it, what's stopping them to do it again in few months or a year.

RockyMtHigh As explained above, it's not about the total amount, it's about the convenience to download videos whenever you want and not following a predefined schedule. When I'm on vacation, I don't want to be limited to 30 videos per week (6 days).

In terms of quantities, it's the tendency that's problematic - the number of allowed downloads is gradually decreasing. This is not the first reduction and you can also see that the business interest is clearly going in the direction of mainstream streaming customers.

RockyMtHigh I download everything from my favorite studios, because the connection to the servers is not always reliable for the the highest quality at my location.

In general I watch every video I've downloaded, but skip a lot of them after a few minutes, because I don't like them. Problem is, that you don't know that from trailers or thumbnails - some of my all time favorite scenes have models I would consider as average or even below average and would have skipped them by just looking at the thumbnail or trailer.

Direction, acting and technical aspects are too important to judge the quality of a scene without watching it. Common problem is that girls look for direction behind the camera or need so much direction that you have cuts every minute - this results in a bad video, even if the girl has a hot body. They also use a lot of Photoshop for the thumbnails, so often girls look very different in the real scene. In other cases scaling is wrong - not just the size of the girl (that aspect got better in recent years) but of the entire room.

The change from 10 downloads a day to 5 downloads a day was inevitable and necessary. What was not inevitable and necessary and why SLR requires a better business manager:

                    • Making the changes without warning
                    • Not rolling them out with the monthly re-subscription period
                    • Doing so without an apology or explanation as if folks wouldn't notice
                    • Changing from a 72 to a 144 hour download window at the same time
