[deleted] "If money is no object then why not go all out and get the Varjo Aero?"
I mentioned why in my post.. in my opinion at the time.. Because of low FOV.. "(besides going for a thousands of dollar Varjo Aero which has a poor field of view)". That's what I see from the reviews and side by side comparisons, but maybe it's fine in person. I haven't tried it. I personally have a Quest 2, HP Reverb G2 and Pimax 8KX currently.
I do take back my recommendation for the Pimax 8KX after switching to the Reverb G2 again. The clarity is significantly better in my tests on the Reverb G2 and I much prefer the clarity over the field of view the Pimax 8KX offers in this use case. I'm sure the higher FOV is better for certain things, and I did like it at first, but picking between FOV and clarity, I'm sticking with clarity and will sell my Pimax 8KX eventually. So the Aero, as far as clarity, yes, is an option, but I would personally wait for the Pimax Crystal coming out relatively soon rather than get the Aero at this point.
At least claimed reasons being.. Higher PPD (pixels per degree.. 42 vs 35), slightly higher resolution, slightly better than normal FOV (without being so high that the pixels are too spread out and you sacrifice clarity), $100 less than the Aero while supposedly including controllers, Standalone (wireless capability like the Quest 2) with Wifi/WiGig streaming, high refresh rate (although I like that the G2 can be set to run at 60fps and doesn't waste energy and create unnecessary heat in this use case.. for video), built with lense swapping in mind (wider FOV option or prescription lenses), integrated tracking, passtrough, built in mic if that's important to anyone. We'll see how it fairs in reviews when it releases. The Pimax 12K is still on my radar if it comes with the rumored micro projection screen or whatever that would have it be as clear as the Crystal in the center sweet spot while still having the wide FOV, but the Crystal has moved up to the top of my watch list for now.
