I'll start by saying that I don't think it is as complex as a lot of other people are saying in this thread. But I'm biased because I have some experience with video editors (like Davinci Resolve and Final Cut). I can see how the "target time" and "jump" system is genuinely confusing for people, though. I started treating each Project Source as a standalone puzzle piece. In other words, if you cut a video from, say, the 3 minute mark until the 7 minute mark, that's one workable component rather than the entire segment. You still have to choose a target time within that project source for it to be valid if you're jumping to it from another source. My suggestion is to have the target time jump to the first frame by default. For example, in the example I mentioned earlier, it would jump to the 03:00:00 segment automatically (unless the user wanted to manually go in and change it for whatever reason). This would save a lot of time and confusion for people - not only for people confused by the logic but also for those who don't want to manually alter it for every single source.

Agree, we'll make the flow simpler in the next iteration. By default it will just jump to the next scene and it's trimmed start with extra additional options to jump to specific timestamp or marker.

I think the #1 flaw right now, though, is what Picouser mentioned earlier in the thread about it being linear. Not being able to go back to certain scenes at a previous timestamp is a massive limitation. If someone is creating a scenario that's mostly from one scene with multiple performers and they want to do "x' or 'y' with Performer A, B and C, the new system makes that practically impossible unless their decision branch happens to be linear by coincidence. I'm not sure if this is a technical limitation from Hyper DeoVR or if it's on the BYOJ integration side, but this is, by far, the most hindering aspect. The logic for what constitutes an "unreachable scene" can be really frustrating.

This is an interesting point. But you can add the same scene as new source though? And there trim it the way you want up to the specific segment. So you can add as many fragments of the scene and don't tie to their linear timeline?

In terms of the project building at-large, I would highly suggest adding a "Save Project" feature in addition to a Private/Public publish option. The very first project I tried building was almost completely lost because the system wouldn't let me update what I was working on due to a system logic error. In other words, you can't save a project if there's a jump or asset conflict. The problem was I didn't know where the conflict was happening. Even after I made sure there weren't any "unreachable scenes" (which in itself is super frustrating), it was still failing to update. If you close the tab or your browser crashes, all the work you put in is essentially erased because you weren't able to update the project.

Sure, we have it on our roadmap. Will either make this flow or auto-save flow.

Also we have player settings configurations (zoom, tilt) etc to be configurable for each track.

Have you made some "hidden" updates in the background since it now jumps by default to the next scene if done no target time? If I recall correctly it did not do this few weeks ago?

When this new BYOJ2.0 was published there was "title" for every scene/jump. I think this was under timing. This was like few days and it suddenly vanished. Maybe there was no point having it...

Same goes for time in general. You have updated time so it does not work anymore in millisecond level. This update happened about one week ago. Smallest unit is now one second. I was going to write this stupid millisecond level design, because in theory key frames (I-frames) and HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) limit it to 0,5-1 second level in best. There is no point having it to 1 millisecond level.

There is still chance that keyframes are close enough to allow 0,5 second adjustment. That's why I criticise little bit about this new hidden update. I would make this new way as default, but had option to specify it with .5 accuracy. To clarify: If you press 1544 it means by default 11 minutes and 54 seconds. If you add dot at the end you can also edit it to 500 millisecond level.

What is my point besides timing? Please TELL US about EVERY UPDATE you do to BYOJ2.0. No "hidden updates". It just makes more confusion.

This is true. You can add same scene as multiple times as a source and try to bypass this linear behaviour. I thought it would also solve the "lack of setting" because now there would be new track to save these new projection setting.

Somehow it still does not work either way. I do not know why but I can try to speculate. Settings are saved to video id. Having two scenes cut differently do not change video id so setting are shared and problem is same 🙁 Maybe same goes to jumps. These are bound to video id. Having two differently cut scenes do not matter. It is the same video. It actually makes this "linear timeline" -problem even worse because it introduces even more jumps to mess timeline.

kingwizard We are adding a code editing mode as a second option you can switch to, alongside the visual one. It is on the list for one of the next releases.

I feel little bit sad that there is almost no community at all to improve and share comments about this amazing BYOJ 2.0. The more I use it the better it feels and easier it gets. I almost regret that I said it is hard to use. Despite this lack of audience I have to share my thought about this new "code editing version".

Short answer: Piece of crab, do not develop it any further. Put any effort to fix the bugs mentioned in this thread.

Long answer and more specific what do I mean by that. First it is far from old and simple BYOJ which was created only for jump from A to B. Nothing else. It worked like a charm and is everything that I would require for this new BYOJ 2.0. I do not need anything fancy. You just filled start and stop times in the simple template and choose where to connect. Few minutes to fill up.

This code editing version is way harder to use than visual, because you have to write JSON file. You are supposed to use ChatGPT or Claude to make it for you. What? Who thinks that is more simpler of faster? It is way slower than visual editing. The more you do visual editing the faster it becomes. I think this code editing do not solve anything.

Maybe in the future this might work, but I also believe in expression: garbage in -> garbage out. There is no AI (yet) that can know 100% what "edited video" would be the best. Let's say I want Melanie Marie video (Melanie Marie's Anal VR Debut) with good doggy and missionary angles. Loop only those for me please. Ok, maybe AI can do that. But those tags are far from perfect. I do not want feet in my mouth, angle might be bad, video might be blurry, model out of center line, sound might be wrong etc. You have to check everything. That's why it is easier and faster to do it visual way. Maybe if you are doing some really complex thing with lots of text, buttons, etc and want quantity over quality. This is why I have to say this "new" code editing is lack of resources. Go basics first. Downloading JSON file is only required if your scene is not played properly and you do want AI to help solve the problem. Second use case is if you have purchased file (lets say some old Virtual Real Porn video) and it has been withdrawn from SLR public category. Editing JSON and video id it is possible to bring it along to BYOJ 2.0 otherwise impossible.

We're super glad to hear it. We're working on improving the editor each day. BYOJ 2.0 JSON scheme is more complex than the old BYOJ, as you correctly noticed. As we see it, AI could at least suggest and help you with basic structure and navigation elements and you use the visual editor to preview and tune the parts. You come up with an idea, prompt it and then tune it further.

I know some might not like these really long feedbacks but even so I have to share my latest discovery about BYOJ 2.0. This is actually really crucial. I would define it like this:

BYOJ multi-video jumps unreliable (about 10% success rate) – jumps to wrong video.

I’m experiencing consistent reliability issues with BYOJ when chaining multiple different source videos. Jumps inside the same video are reliable and work 100 % correct.

Editors Journey view shows it should play like this: Split my pussy open (4 jumps inside this video) -> Get her done -> Orgasmic Pussy -> back to Split my pussy open

When the jump targets a different video (different sourceVideo / videoId), the player only lands on the correct video roughly 10% of the time. In the other 90% of cases it either jumps to the wrong video or fails to switch properly.

I have verified the JSON thoroughly (correct sceneIds / videoIds, correct timestamps/markers, correct jump order). The same project works correctly when staying inside one video. I have made multiple these kind of videos and this unreliable jump occurs using even two videos if you have multiple jumps inside first video. How many jumps? More than 2 jumps do not trigger this but if you have 6 jumps inside first video there are reliable issues.

This should work like this: Basketball beauty (6 jumps inside this video) -> Flex appeal -> back to Basketball beauty. Everybody can experiment. If you managed to pass it 100 % correct at first try, just try again or let it loop and you notice the unreliability.

This strongly suggests an issue on the player/server side with multi-source scene switching (loading, caching, or state handling), rather than a problem in the project configuration.

Any comments? I am using Quest 3 and latest DeoVR Hyper app.

I have to specify that this 90 % failure concerns only the first link I published. Second link might be around 30 %.

There is also videos chaining 2 videos both having 4 jumps and their failure rate is about 5 %. So there is no clear link between jumps and reliability. AI says this is a classic race condition / state management issue in the playback engine.

There are some long post about those already, but I will make it short and gather them here. First most important and at the end insignificant. Keep in mind that I use BYOJ 2.0 only for basics, not anything fancy and think that 99% use BYOJ wrong 🙂

Lack of different projection settings after every jump (key frame settings for tracks)
~~Multi-video jumps unreliable~~ (fixed soon)
Linear timeline.
Hyper do not have adjustment for vertical & horizontal offset or do not save passthrough settings (not BYOJ fault, but that limits the use of BYOJ notably cos especially 8K JAV has distortion problems)
Bigger grid for finished BYOJ videos (3 x 4) and sorting (add Natural Sort Order also). Launch button to the first page, not hidden to last page
~~Can't be created using headset~~ (still slow, but digits work way better now)
Option to save unfinished project
0.5 second back to smallest unit only if default option is adjusted by dot.
BYOJ 2.0 allows 100 characters to title but only shows 35 characters. Maybe short it to 35 or add second row under the cover image to show whole text

Tried for the first time - BYOJ looks great, excited to try it out more, nice work SLR team!

Couple of basic issues though - or it's not intuitive,

I want to use certain clips from 3/4 videos, combine into 1 video.

Did this - in BYOJ editor, “Publish” section - video preview, only shows the first video.

The BYOJ “journey” section shows all scenes connect with “Jump to”, but the “Publish” video preview only shows first scene.

I published it (private) and cannot find the video anywhere. How to play the BYOJ video I published??

This is all from the SLR website, in laptop browser. Want to turn on headset and play the result, after making it great in browser.

Will the BYOJ videos have PT AI on automatically?

Edit: I can now see a small preview link in the bottom right "scene is live" with a link. But you can't play the result in browser. Will test it later in headset. Seems there should be a section like "My BYOJ videos" and bigger notification for "it's published"
