Just tried some downloaded PT videos with heresphere on the Quest3 and they indeed look way better. I recommend downloading and then streaming them via either a windows network share or DLNA.
Deovr on Pcvr is so much sharper than standalone deovr

VRXVR please lmk of your experience with pimax crystal in term of visual and fov. I was thinking about buying that same headset.
Man, ever since I switch to pcvr, I honestly cant go back to standalone, the visual is off putting now.. Passthrough would be the only reason why i still use standalone.
bboy7895 I let you know for sure when I have a good amount of time with it and experienced all of its pros and cons. And rest assured, if it's good I'll tell you why it's good, and if it's garbage, I'll tell you why too.
But, let me tell you this up front, why it took more time to deliver to me, because I did many researches about it:
1- This headset ships with either a Plastic OR Glass lenses. And the Glass ones despite they are heavier, they are super clear compared to Plastic ones.
2- It's also shipped with either a fiber optic cable OR a regular one. And the fiber cable is lighter and more stable compared to the regular one.
Before I ordered it, I contacted Pimax and wanted guarantees that they ship to me, one with Glass lenses and a fiber optic cable, After many back and forward emails. They secured one for me with what I want, BUT with extra $50 to pay, which I did, although I didn't like it. BUT I don't have any other option, they know that and I know that. So, yeah, such is life...
Yes, the Pimax Crystal Light passthrough mode is black and white similar to Quest 2 as I read, but this is not a mixed reality headset you know, it's just a pure VR goodness which I personally prefer in ALL the XR umbrella (AR/MR/VR) as AR and MR didn't impress me at all, Including the PT Videos, so I personally don't care about them. If you do, you HAVE to keep your Quest 3 for that.
Until then, I'll post my unbiased experience with it and you'll decide by yourself
Respectfully and best regards!
VRXVR I'm on Quest 2 with meta link with cable connected to a 4070 PC and 13600kf,from native Quest 2 player to PC there Is a huuge difference, but it's Just me or the standard slr 8k video Is nearly identical to the higher bitrate "master" videos? I used your settings in debug tool apart from the res width. I don't know if i'm missing something..the video Is stored in my PC and i'm using heresphere
radiz19 Hello my friend and apologies for the very late reply as I was/ still very busy.
As for the SLR Re-encoded videos vs the Original/ High bitrate videos I already posted about my experience and test results as you can see here. So, no need for reposting. Please read it:
https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/3544-deovr-v-heresphere/271
I don't know about the Quest 2 as all of these tests are done on Quest 3 using DeoVR Steam and both same videos (SLR Re-encoded and the Original) were stored In same test folder for local playback on my PC and I can see the difference in video quality clearly in favor of the Original/ High bitrate videos. BUT, as you already read, SLR Re-encoded videos are very close to them.
And as I have the Pimax Crystal currently, the difference in video quality is even more obvious in the Original/ High bitrate videos as I tested very recently.
Hope this help and Best Regards.

Using the Quest Pro and planned to sell my I9 9900K/2080ti setup, since there's nothing for me after HL Alyx to do with it.
But after having troubles with DeoVR native I went back to PCVR+XBVR...
It has always been sharpe rand more realistic!!!

nimendie Hello,
Maximum FPS VR Porn video I have is: 8192x4096 @60FPS and it plays very well. I don't have any 8K @90FPS VR porn video, so I don't know if "Nvidia NVDEC" can handle it and play it smoothly or not when it comes to the RTX 40 Series in general and RTX 4080 in particular.
Sorry I couldn't help.
Best Regards.
This is interesting. I've used a Pimax 8kx and a 3080 for years and only recently changed to the Quest 3 (not linked to pc) in the last couple of months. And well, I immensely prefer the Quest 3 honestly. The Quest's better pancake lenses help for sure, but I didn't notice a significant downgrade. The only thing I can think of is that almost all videos are way sharper than the passthrough video quality on the Quest. Even still, I think the videos all look great.
I admittedly haven't tried SLR on the PC with my Quest, but if there's no passthrough, then I don't even care. I was a skeptic of passthrough when it started coming out, but once I tried it with the Quest 3, I could never go back to non passthrough stuff. The only way I think I'd feel the need to connect to the PC is if stuff like BraindanceVR becomes a real thing.
