I am not sure what you mean by unexpected. You are right in saying the current "formula" is quite vanilla or "feels the same", but I think SLRO VR scenes can be improved just by being more "immersive" and less reserved with what you can do with the current equipment than being "unexpected" or "unpredictable".

Take a page out of the JAVVR book:

  1. Intimacy - lengthy cuddling, pre and post sex. Ear licking, whispering. Lengthy kissing not just a misplaced peck on the lips. Even though they speak a language I cannot comprehend it still feels hot.
  2. Fetish - Squirting into camera, spit in mouth, soap, taboo... Hardcore Stepmom, a recent taboo/fetish scene by SLRO was excellent (minus the non-POV). More of that.
  3. Use of props/extras - makes the scene feel more real. Have a girl feed you food. Have extras acting as parents/colleagues/strangers... Set the scene up to build sexual tension.
  4. Nonstandard positions - OK not JAV but VRPlayful at least tried to experiment with unusual positions
  5. More varied scenarios: check JAVtrailers to have an idea what the current VR scenes are like. Massage parlours, succubus, your private tutor, a trip with your colleagues/stepmum to the spa... Revive the "Scenarios" section in the forum and actively listen to your customers like what we did successfully with Modern Relationship.

These are elements that are not "unexpected" but work super duper well for VR. No need to reinvent the wheel. If SLRO can do these things (they have tried exploring some in the past) already the scenes would already be a big improvement.

doublevr I think the problem is that users in the west expect all positions in every scene every time. This makes it hard to do new things.

Look at Jav, you'll get good variety per scene but not every position. Not even in those multi hour scenes. This leaves more room for experimentation and novel ideas. JAV has the scene length advantage though making it easier to take your time to do an idea well I stead of 2 minutes of intro or filler before getting back to the formula because everything needs to be crammed in to satisfy every user.

If we want variety we should stop complaining about every scene needing everything all the time.

    As a side note. I love the creativity of JAV. Not everything is great and there are formulas in there too but there is soo much untapped potential there.

    When it comes down to it JAV usually really commits to doing a concept. In the west the concept usually feels more like a gimmick on top of the formula. Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

    I've noticed few if any studios try POV-VR without the fixed cam(cam moving with male talent's face). JAV does experiment here but it's still in its infancy, restricted to 4K or 6K at best. Hardly anything from SLRO side. Fact is that you're never restricted to fixed positions, angles, lack of hardcore action and you get all the variety you've ever wanted. It is the ultimate level of immersion IMHO. Some of the best scenes i've seen have come from this, yet it's a rarity.
    I get that fixing all that equipment on the male talent's head is no easy feat, but it's the sureshot way VR can grow leaving this vanilla phase.

    Few, if any, people here care about flat when there is VR. Bringing flat porn does nothing to highlight what makes SLR stand out from the masses of generic non-VR porn sites out there either.

    Personally I don't think much needs to change with positions. Alex Nash could make some small tweaks to really perfect certain positions, but otherwise POV is good and the limited positions are fine. There could be more creativity in the scenarios and sets though.

      I'm wondering if the stats SLR sees in the background actually support any of these varied assertions or whether its just a response to the vocal minority.
      Or is it the visible tip of an unspoken iceberg of dissatisfaction--hence the question of whether the stats actually show any downtrends.

      Of course, there's always a third option: confirmation bias.

For example, in my opinion there should never be any male fucking back in a PT scene, since this causes the 'floating dick syndrome' in PT. At best the viewer can try to imitate the movement but this will never be successful since it's impossible to mimic movement 100% correctly, resulting in immersion breaking. However this still happens in a lot of PT video's And I actually saw a forum user who seemed to like it.                             I agree with you about predictable scene to scene and cast to cast but not about the fixed angles part.

                            SLR has shot a few scenes in the big looking house where we sit on the couch looking at the kitchen. This is the same exact couch every time.
                            You could start the scene at the table with the girl making you dinner. That is different and has been done by other studios. She could feed you food and play with your cock while telling you how much she loves you.

                            You could start the scene standing in the kitchen while she is doing the dishes. She could tell you she is going to be doing chores for a while and if you need some action then you are going to have to do her doggy while she continues wishing the dishes.

                            There are tons of things that can be done with the same houses and the same camera placements but make them different and unexpected and hot.

                                personally imho SLR top the immersive experience in VR overall sites.

                                to suddenly add 2d would dilute what this VR experience and future is all about.
                                unless, of course, you keep the same amount of new vr releases and have a left plane slider option for those that want 2d.

Everything lacking in SLR Originals in 2024 resulting in lazy production. You produce VR porn, in the same indoor sets, with the same formulaic approach, sometimes with certain talent that get casted multiple times a year even though they have 100+ scenes in their portfolio, zero creativity, and wonder why your scenes are predictable? You can tell me I'm wrong if SLR won a couple of AVN awards this year but haven't seen anything and I know vrbangers won best virtual reality scene and a few others. Your solution to make things different is to take a step backwards and produce essentially regular porn and calling that innovation? @Avakian mentioned JAV is better at set and production design and your reply was you don't like the angles? Of course you have something like Mile High Club (which was amazing) on the limo and plane, but you can get creative without spending that much. Other top legendary scenes like NaughtyAmerica's Fidelio are so well loved because they changed it up, shot by shot with different girls, there's narrative and sexual progression in the scene from the start to end, resulting in the last shot with all the girls. Your most creative scene this year was for halloween, but it was more scary than sexy. Instead of making flat porn, look at the regular flat 2D porn from other studios, like brazzers, realitykings, adulttime, etc and learn from their production design and bring their creative writing, styling, and set design to VR. Just get creative.
