Ok something that may just be a UI/processing glitch or something is that, I've uploaded a 2nd vid and requested AI PT. When I clicked Done to save the vid while the AI PT could start, when I clicked back into Edit it shows my credit refunded and now says "Unavailable for this video" but the video is a real h00man in 5k 3d 180VR and not cgi, 3d or anime/cartoon. It may be a color thing as the lighting is heavily blue with led blue lights but it's not dark. Could this be the issue? I'll swing back around and see if maybe it was just a glitch and maybe it will have processed tomorrow.

What makes me think it might be a coding/UI issue is that it also won't allow me to save a Thumbnail for said video now even once I have hit save after it lets me select the Thumbnail shot.

But so far, it's working GREAT on the first vid I uploaded. THANK YOU GUYS. I've been waiting for this for 4 years since I got a couple custom VR vids like a total nerd. To see them in passthrough is a bit of a dream to make the fantasy more real instead of just "virtual".

The bottom line is that I think for a most people the whole SLR drive thing is only about getting AI passthrough and AI scripts for their non SLR videos.

What most consumers want

  • Press generate on a local app and the AI will batch process all videos in their library that don't have passthrough or scripts yet
  • Have a pricing plan that allows them to convert their entire non SLR library and new vids for an affordable price without worrying about per video price or number of generations

The disconnect

  • Uploading, converting, adding meta data, searching what not and what to add to drive, thinking about what to keep, etc. takes a lot of time and effort.
  • Due to the pricing / storage limitations you have to cherry pick your scenes. This also mean you'd need to watch a video before (without AI) decide if it's good enough. Upload it overnight and then watch it later
  • You own nothing and you'll lose everything and your entire investment if you ever quit the service, SLR changes direction, etc.
  • Some people want to go the local route.

I think most people are willing to put up with the whole online requirement because that's the only way they can get the AI features they are super excited about. The issue is that this makes things expensive and since it's not something a lot of us are asking for it makes it a hard sell to pay the price. I think that that's the feedback that you are hearing in this thread.

To clarify, personally I'd much rather just pay 15 up to 30 a month to be able to generate AI passrhroug and scripts locally. Now I know SLR is alergic to the concept of anything local but I'm making a point here about the disconnect.

The point being. People just want to easily have scripts and Ai pass-through for all their non slr videos at an acceptable price. The current vision doesn't allow that. What it does allow is for you to enjoy a few (30) vids temporarily and with quite a bit of friction while you keep a running subscription. Still fun but the value proposition is very different and that reflects what people are willing to pay for it.

fenderwq 100% this, if I could I would go local only, much faster and better experience and I prefer Heresphere as a player. What I am most exited about is the AI scripts for non SLR videos and if it was possible still keep everything local. I really only care about the scripts and not about PT.

You guys at SLR gave DRIVE the title. But we came cause of the passthrough feature onto out own local content, and thats all. Nobody was excited about cloud storage.

I can organize my hard drives at home, but on SLR our personal playists are a jumbled disorganized mess. Not alphabetized.... still, after years. Just basics, its not a good look. The drive is going to de a disorganized dumping ground, like their playlists. Excepts you will pay extra for it. Sorry guys. If you want to attract cloud users into your 1 stop shop and have people pay to hold their videos, you are going to have to step it up with organizing. They want you to dump videos into a pile you will watch again, and pay to do it. Makes no sense. AI passthrough quickly became more of a side thing instead of the main feature of DRIVE. There is too much content out there to make SLR into a 1 stop shop, their goal. Its just wishful thinking. Somebody is going to come along and give people what they were excited for on another big site.. and its not going to feel like a cash grab

They should really have made two campaigns instead of one. Instead of combining them into something a majority of people only are interested in half of, clearly. They dont have anything to do with eachother. If you try to push jelly and people don't want peanut butter, you may not sell many sandwiches.

      • cloud storage

      • AI PT + AI script generation onto your personal videos.

pulsaralto 100% this, if I could I would go local only,

you still can, its how we have been doing it up to today anyway, and wont cost you extra 🙂

So this is obviously an anti-piracy thing. I really wonder if it works out like you imagine though…

In the almighty words of Gabe Newell, piracy is almost always a service problem, not a pricing problem. Look at Valve and how it is doing, it outperforms Apple and other giant companies in terms of profit per employee. No anti-piracy methods on any of their games, high customer service standards etc.

I feel like paying customers get screwed at the expense of potentially (temporarily) avoiding piracy. Kind of like Denuvo.

As a lifetime member, what is the point of locking 500kb files? I get that providing the AI model for other content induces costs and therefore cannot be free. But what is the explanation for AI script download limits for example?

Just my 2 cents, getting a little tired of Doubles responses tbh, a forum like this is for feedback, if you’re not willing to listen, might as well shut it down.

pulsaralto Me too, but passthrough we already have covered. Programs that work like Adobe after effects but are way cheaper and easy to use and light on your computer... like runway. Click the model, erase the background, render. Voila, passthrough videos all day long. Can fine tune as much as you like and best part is you can keep the new passthrough videos on your own hard drives saved for offline use. What im saying is not revolutionary, been doing this for a few years now and with AI all major video editing software can create passthrough at an affordable price. No video limit.

So if you like the scripts, the same thing applies to AI scripts. Just hold your breath cause a little tedious to make a script now but with AI taking over its going to be like 5 minutes and you are generating your own scripts for as many videos as you like all day. Things are moving too fast. Slr is tryint to hook people in before they realize SLR is not the only company doing this. Its kinda old tech at this point tbh

        Internet expert moment:
No one is ever going to stream - 95% of SLR streaming.
AI scripts are shit, no one is going to use them - They are more used than craft scripts.
        AI PT is great.

There won't be ai scripts or pt for local files. These are Drive streaming only features.

You people are the worst shit making it from "no way anyone would use it" to "it's so obvious" in no time with no excuse. Such a crap turning creative discussion into a shitshow.

doublevr I mean thats not what we are talking about though. I can stream off of my own personal hard drive at home too.

And nobody is saying the AI is no good, its just not unique to SLR at this point. So why is the cloud strange and AI stuff combined into one package? Seems most people are really not all that interested in the cloud storage but the cloud storage is just an excuse to jack up the price on the AI features we were all caring about in the first place.

doublevr AI scripts are shit, no one is going to use them - They are more used than craft scripts.

Also a majority of scripts available are AI generated so its no surprise they are used more than craft scripts. I also did not have to pay extra for scripts on my account. I chose to. With drive we would have to pay for something we dont want and wont use much to get to the feature we cared about in the first place. Maybe If I signed up I could save money by opting to have bare minimum cloud storage, as if it is a separate feature, because it is. I dont want 500gb of a jumbled disorganized mess I will never sift through. SLR still hasnt added basic organization to personalized playlists. The cloud isnt going to be any different, except you pay for it to be a mess. If the goal is to sway people into using SLR as their main goto hub, sorry, too much content out there. Never going to happen and especially if you corner people.

doublevr No one is ever going to stream - 95% of SLR streaming.

When they have a download cap, yeah people tend to stop using it. I dont make the rules. Some other sites remove download options alltogether cause they only want to be streaming..... but slr wants you to download videos and put them into their cloud storage also. I dont get it.

i`m willing to pay a lifetime price for at least 1 or 2tb and unlimited ai pt conversions, no need to donwload anything. dont like monthly subs

For me it's the opposite, the only thing that interests me is downloads with AI passthrough because I prefer to read files locally on Heresphere and I would only pay for that and nothing else and I think it would be a serious mistake not to offer downloads but you must already know that in my opinion so the cards are in your hands

doublevr I think the AI stuff is great, believed in it from the start, and helped it improve by giving plenty of feedback, just see my history. Also passthrough AI pretty much forces you to stream if you like that. So not sure if this comment is also for me but if it is, I'm just trying to make a constructive argument about the vision you pointed out in the initial post. That's why you posted it right?

I still think drive is a nice feature and I'll probably subscribe to it but I think it could be way better when you address / find a solution to some of the pain points I listed.

And, btw I know your not gonna allow us to generate stuff locally (although I wish you would). That's not the point. It's about making SLR drive workable and appealing to as many people as possible.

doublevr I’d recommend to either simply stop commenting or stop using the forums altogether for this stuff.

If you’re not gonna take feedback seriously, even insult (paying) users for it. Just don’t discuss this publicly. You have to realize that every single person on this forum is a paying customer, and are some of the most engaged users of SLR

Launch it however you want and see if it makes profit. You’ve gotten loads of feedback, if you decide to ignore it that’s on you.

A CEO whining that ‘customers are entitled and want everything free’ really doesn’t come across well. Especially when mentioned to paying customers only. Guess what, if (a part of) the company isn’t performing well, its not the clients fault for not buying the service, it’s the service’s fault for not being attractive enough in the market.

Does SLR really think that the second they put out something it is going to be perfect? That everybody has to agree its the greatest thing to happen to VR.
I just don't get why when they get feedback from customers about what they could do to improve it. They get mad. Ignore any comment that you seem to think is trolling. Although I don't think anybody on here is trolling but instead telling SLR what they think about it. Isn't that the point of starting a discussion. Maybe it is to just get praise and a bunch of Thank you Thank you.

How long until everybody can just get AI PT at home for free? How long until everybody can get AI scripts at home for free? At that point is anybody going to pay a higher price for cloud space?

rerun119 How long until everybody can just get AI PT at home for free? How long until everybody can get AI scripts at home for free? At that point is anybody going to pay a higher price for cloud space?

If AT PT and scripts are really that popular then it's bound to happen. Training ML models for this isn't difficult and someone will build a tool or service that can do it at a fraction of the price SLR wants to charge, with none of the restrictions.

If anyone is interested in 2D AI passthrough, RunwayML can do it for free. You don’t need to use any credits for the green screen effect which is really excellent. You put a few markers on the objects you want to follow and the AI will track it throughout the video (max. 15m vid/720p for free)
