So this is obviously an anti-piracy thing. I really wonder if it works out like you imagine though…
In the almighty words of Gabe Newell, piracy is almost always a service problem, not a pricing problem. Look at Valve and how it is doing, it outperforms Apple and other giant companies in terms of profit per employee. No anti-piracy methods on any of their games, high customer service standards etc.
I feel like paying customers get screwed at the expense of potentially (temporarily) avoiding piracy. Kind of like Denuvo.
As a lifetime member, what is the point of locking 500kb files? I get that providing the AI model for other content induces costs and therefore cannot be free. But what is the explanation for AI script download limits for example?
