fenderwq There are few reasons for using "bulky" headset.

  1. Battery life increases. Using Bobo VR and 3 separate battery packs I can triple my playing time. Actually I can use it indefinitely because I can charge two batteries when one is in use. You may probably know that passtrough consumes huge amount of current. About one hour use and Quest internal battery is out of charge.
  2. Weight balance is better if you have something at the back of your head. Normal Quest 3 is front heavy. I can't lay in bed with Bobo VR but I can lean agains a high chair because bulkiest part is located upper back of the skull, not in lower neck like Pico had.
  3. Better FOV. Removing face mask gives you extra field of view. You can not do that without using some kind of headband type strap.
  4. Related to previous. No itchy facial gasket, no pressure to my face and cheekbones, no marks on my skin and no panda bear look anymore.

Matter of taste but being able to lie down versus these four arguments... To me "bulky" Bobo VR is clear winner.

      Regarding this point: Based on the pictures I have seen, increasing the FOV by removing the facial mask means that you will also get a direct view of your real surroundings while watching a video. Doesn't that interfere with immersion?

          Picouser Yeah, guess people are different, I was so glad to be rid of the backstrap of my old headsets. Hated the strap of the Pimax (which is kinda similar in size) with a passion, but even the Valve index and the default pico 4 where super annoying to me. I'd go so far as to say that one of the obvious advantages of the quest over the pico is that the battery is not in the back.

            Lol, bro one time someone was hyped about new primax coming out, talking about its 8k bla bla bla, and I never seen or even heard of primax so I looked it up, lol bro 😂 🤣, my first thought was wtf! That thing is huge and then i guess it's battery in the back but it was huge too, I thought man no way is that good for laying sex positions in vr, I hated when users would talk down on someone with a gearvr like me, they say get you a valve or some other headset, I'm just like bro your attached to computer like how does that even work, ima have to sit at my computer wired lol my gearvr worked great for vrporn 🤷‍♂️

            But yeah the battery in the back for vr sucks, only thing I hated about the pico4 was that.

                Vrsumo2017 haha well I had a gear vr back in the day too it was nice and convenient. Although I hated having to keep my phone so clean. Then I got an index, then the pimax 8kx although it's broken now, then a pico 4 which I returned because I thought it was bad and then the quest 3. Pimax was awesome for porn although the wired thing and the back thing sucked (also the user experience). Think the quest 3 is the best now though. Would be very hard to go back to wired and bulk on the back of my head.

                    On the off-chance you haven't tested it: In Death: Unchained. The only game I regularly play after years with the Quest(s). Podcast or music in the background and grab that bow 👌

                    Red Hot, Robo Recall and Pistol Whip are also good, but In Death is just a masterpiece 😎

                      Question for Pico 4 Ultra owners: Is the increased rendering resolution noticeable for 8K video streaming?

                      I currently own the Pico 4 and have been looking into the Pico 4 Ultra. I noticed that while the display resolution remains the same, the internal rendering resolution has increased—from 1504p to 1920p per eye.

                      For those who’ve made the switch:
                      Do you notice a visible improvement in image quality when streaming high-resolution content (e.g., 8K videos in the DeoVR app)? Or was the video content on the regular Pico 4 already utilizing the full display potential?

                      I’m considering an upgrade mainly for better video clarity—would love to hear your thoughts!

                        Fapmaster17 Does Pico not allow you to change the render resolution? On Quest you can increase it to like 3200p per eye if you want, and it does lead to a visible improvement vs the lower default.

                        Keep in mind that resolution isn't the only factor that matters. The quality of the pixels is also important and videos intended for streaming are typically on the lower end of the quality spectrum.
