Recenter does not appear to recenter based on the positioning of the viewer. It just goes back to centering with the center line of sight pointed at the address bar.
When I drag to reposition the center line of sight, the plane of the UI distorts. I say "plane" but its more like a section of the interior of a sphere. So instead of the entire sphere rotating so that the 3d effect is still centered on the line of sight, the UI surface moves such that the 3d effect center point no longer coincides with the point of view. So the UI objects appear distorted somewhat like a trapezoid. If you drag such that your point of view is centered on the center of the UI, then the top of the UI looks closer, while the bottom looks further away. Plus you get perspective distortions like a funhouse mirror.
