  • SLR Interactive Spatial Media Manifesto

We're leading the charge into a new era of tech, and we're doing it great where everyone’s failing. Even though we’re still carving out our niche, we’re on our way to making it big and global. That's what is important.

Let’s go Streaming — we don't want to invest into downloads options or features. Streaming is smoother, keeps us away from headaches of piracy, crazy support requests that some stupid setup isn't working, etc. With everyone’s internet getting better, the streaming is the future. The stats show streaming going up and downloads down.
Let's get big on AR and Passthrough (PT). By the end of the year, PT watchtime is expected to take over non-PT. We're upgrading all videos with high-quality PT AI in the coming weeks! The Vega brothers are all in shooting exclusively PT. All the new headsets are highlighting their PT/AR.
We’re making 6DOF go mainstream. It’s going to change how immersive our stuff is. It is even more perfect for PT/AR.
We're evolving our videos to go fully interactive — with Build Your Own Journey, haptics / touch feedback and Control My Sex Toy. We are creating the whole layer of technology to enable this for the whole world.

Thanks to our tech team, after many years we’re diving back into product design. We’re smoothing out the experience across the app, WebXR, web, and mobile, making everything more intuitive and filled with real human stories and emotions.

The features list is impressive:
Releasing 6DOF
Emitting SLR tokens and SLR Drive
Launching Mobile Shorts and SLR Cams PT Originals
Making videos multi-user
Mobile app with flat content powered by our PT AI, ScriptAI tools and all the interactive features we are working on

And we meet many great people on the way building a super cool team. Something I’m most excited about.
One Last Thing - Every day is a new start and all our accomplishments reset every 24h 🕐️ . We cherish all the past wins in our hearts, but as everything is moving forward do not get stuck in the past. It's today and the future we are aiming for.
We enjoy things in the company more than ever, and they’re only getting better.
Get ready for some exciting times ahead!

doublevr Very disappointing about the download hate I must say. I find it very anti consumer to try and force people to stream when there are clearly a lot of people that don't want to. On a positive note, I am excited about the passthrough developments and SLR Drive seems interesting.

doublevr Please. For the love of all. Please do not get rid of downloads.

Think about it this way... Aside from SLR Originals, most other aggregated content on this website is on other services (POVR, VRPorn, etc). If you take away downloads, people will have more reason to just sub to those services instead. And why is everything always "picking sides" here? Why can't both kinds of users co-exist? Don't force users to consume in only one way. People have their own ecosystems, their own watching habits, their own reasons for downloading vs streaming.

Your metrics always seem to show streaming going up, downloads going lower. But your download metrics never go up on how many times I've watched my downloaded content. And with the sheer number of frivolous content on here, people won't download it, because we have LIMITED downloads! So of course, people who just want to check out something here by some off-studio, they will just stream it and not waste a download.

And c'mon... you can't fight piracy with porn. Even if it's streaming only, there will be ways people will find to pirate SLR Originals still. I wouldn't even be surprised if piracy goes up if you take away downloads...

(For everything else, yes, I share the sentiment. SLR has done a lot of great things, and continues to innovate and have a lot to be proud of on the tech side.)

g2kbuffetboy we are rather into 'do not invest extra into downloads' mood. I don't expect current logic to change much.
At some point we will introduce new price packs with more downloads for monthly and lifetime

When can we expect to see 6DOF release?

g2kbuffetboy Copy that 100%. Was historically a loyal subscriber to 2d-sites like bangbros. Did not renew my subscription at the point where they reduced the bandwidth (and as a result the quality) of their videos - and stopped the downloads. Total no-go to me.
I personally travel a lot and love to have my favorites with me on the Quest and/or an a portable HD together with my RAV access point. This way, I'm not forced to use a public internet connection for my porn dedication.
For me, it's rather simple: No downloads - no subscription. Same for being forced to pay extra for downloads. Didn't re-subscribe e.g. to brazzers since they started this shit.

Ah okay, that is a relief then. Thank you for clarifying that.

antjegrigoo I personally travel a lot and love to have my favorites with me on the Quest and/or an a portable HD together with my RAV access point.

I'm the same way. Since I've bought my Quest 3, I've taken it with me on most of my trips and it's been a nice travel headset with all my favorite downloaded scenes as well.

What you don't want people to download? But so many non-porn services let people download everything, like Netflix, Hulu, Max, Amazon Prime . . . oh wait -- no they don't. 😉

Definitely can echo the statements about the problems with not giving users options. Just please do not get rid of downloads entirely, especially the high bitrate options. Downloads will always be the better choice for superior quality and quickness of scanning to other parts of the scene. Sure streaming is a lot better now but it still doesn't compare.

VR enthusiasts are still going to want a local file that they know will work every time without the reliance on an internet connection. I don't care if downloads "advance" they're great the way they are now, but please do not get rid of them. That's one surefire way to alienate your hardcore fanbase.

Without downloads, I would have none of the content from VR Conk, VR Bangers, Swallowbay etc which has since been removed, not to mention the many other scenes from existing partners which were taken down for compliance reasons. I don't download much at all though, only a few scenes per week, so if you at least maintain downloading in original quality with reasonable limits, I'm happy. I can understand wanting to deter one month subbers who download as much as they can get away with then leave, as they are a financial drain.

I stream to select scenes, download to enjoy them. If people are streaming more and downloading less, it might be because they keep looking for awesome scenes and just aren't finding them - a trend across all of VR porn.

          Yo @doublevr !
First tanks to the teams !
On this : "We’re making 6DOF go mainstream. It’s going to change how immersive our stuff is. It is even more perfect for PT/AR."
Can you tell what kind of tech are you using for 6dof dev, and how far are you to post some stuff using it ?

          I could unerstand if you can't 😉
          Tanks

All the tech is great, but is SLR a tech company or a VR production company? Because nowhere on your list do you mention investing in directors and quality SLRO content creators, which seems to be the one thing that is slipping more and more with each passing month as directors leave and SLROs slow to a crawl. All these tech deployments make me wonder if the SLR model is becoming one that relies on outside studios to bring in actual content.

deltacloud which seems to be the one thing that is slipping more and more with each passing month as directors leave and SLROs slow to a crawl.

Check out the Backstage Pass thread if you haven't already - lot of details there on our plans for SLRO, both in terms of increasing quantity and quality.

tl;dr - our new AR/PT studio in the EU is up & running, with release frequency expected to increase in May. We've also had "pilot" shoots with several producers over the past 2 or so weeks (in the EU and in Florida) since we're actively looking for more quality creators both here in the US and in the EU.
