rerun119 It used to be that if you held down the recenter button, you could move the picture all around and put it in the right spot before letting go of the button

Not sure if it helps in your case but you can also move the picture all around without the player UI/recenter button, just by using the controller and the 'dome rotation' keybindings specified in your general DeoVR settings. It's pretty much the same as you do intuitively in any other player with controller and primary index trigger.

Hello Everyone,

Was about to write a separate thread about the horrible experience I have for 2 days now with the last 13.15 update for Steam version but then I said let's see what others are reporting about it and I come across multiple users with the same issues I have and come across Mr. Mateo Drake comment about we keep the conversation here instead of writing separate threads so here's my entire feedback in points to keep it simple, direct and easy to track and resolve by the DeoVR Developers:

1- Recentering UI is plain awful! I have the habit of watching the video and summoning the Player menu multiple times to fast forward to the parts I enjoy the most instead of watching the whole video, and every time I press the button to summon it I always end up grabbing it and re-center it to my liking because it keeps shifting up and down and left and right all over the place like crazy with every summon. I didn't have to deal with this issue at all before this update.

2- Recentering UI is UNUSABLE in VR Cam Girls!!! When entering a room and chat with a girl, remember we now have 3 separate menus (1- main menu 2- keyboard menu 3- chat menu) before this update, all of them were centered and stacked vertically over each other and the experience was great for typing, chatting and tipping the girl then closing the menus with one button to enjoy the girl's tip activity I made and now with update 13.15, just make a slight head movement after you close the menus and summon them again with one button and they are all over the place and overlapping each other, so I have to grab and re-center and re-arrange them one by one by myself vertically over each other like before in order to type, chat and tip again, and this continues to happen with every time I summon the menus with every girl and every room. It was a nightmare to use!

3- When entering the VR Cam Girls and summon the menus to tip...etc... Now the Settings menu opens automatically by itself every time I enter a new room which is so annoying and I have to close it every time it appears. That's one more step of "point and click to close" Pure frustration and stress!

4- When I remove my headset for a brief moment (less than 1 minute) to relax a bit and wear it again, the Meta Quest 2 Touch controllers pointer is absent and I can't do anything but to close the player from the PC using my mouse and open it again in order to the pointer to work again. Never happened to me before this update (also, not happening on Quest 3. Only on Quest 2).

I'll end up with these major points without mentioning other performance issues the DeoVR Player have as you guys promised to optimize it and make it faster with more performance and less bugs with each update. But as I already wrote this feedback, I have just one new feature to ask:

  • Please add clock time to the menu when in VR Cam Girls! Many times the girls ask for my time and I have to either remove my headset to look at my clock or leave her room to go back to the main Player menu to look there! In both situations, I'm forced to leave the girl room when she asks which is rude from her perspective and mine too.

And here's my Specs...etc...

Headsets: Quest 3/ Quest 2 with latest firmware update (V.62) connected to PC with official Quest Link cable from Meta (also tried high quality JSAUX Oculus Link 2 in 1 Connector and Charger cable for Quest 2, same issues).
PC: Intel i7-12700K/ RTX 4080 (with latest Nvidia 551.61 driver update) / 32GB DDR5/ Windows 11 Pro with latest 23H2 update with latest HEVC/ H.265 codec installed and work perfectly from Microsoft store. No other codecs or anything can cause conflict...etc...
ALL the drivers and firmware are up to date on everything including SteamVR Version 2.3.5 (No viruses. malware.. etc...) it's a desktop PC dedicated to VR ONLY!

Finally, I want to stress I'm not trying to troll you or bring you down guys! I LOVE DeoVR and SLR! I was using DeoVR ONLY Since Version 8 when it was a beast of a player!
And I still have this version which is still even today beats the crap out of all modern DeoVR versions starting from Version 9 onwards when playing 8K and 10-bit videos in terms of frames performance, Smoothness, fluid and responsive.
The only thing keeps me to not using it is its lack of Fisheye190 option which I have many SLR/ DeoVR and personal videos in this format.
I wish DeoVR Player returns to its Version 8 glory days with a future update...

Please tell me if you want more Info or clarification and best regards to all!

Respectfully,
Victor.

Agree with comments above about the centering issues. Using Quest 2 and streaming/local files. The recentering is disorienting and much harder to use than the previous behavior. I don't think I want the auto-recentering when opening player UI while watching multiple times within a video, it basically never seems to show up in the right place or "level".

There is also something that just feels "off" about the angle or centering or zoom of the video, but I can't accurately describe it or diagnose it exactly yet -- the menu positioning is probably the main issue.

On a UI centering note -- it would be nice if holding the button and having it recenter would also positioning it vertically in addition to the horizontal centering that is already done. E.g. while lying down it's annoying to have to find the repositioning button and drag the main menu UI around literally ever time you enter app or put on the headset again after removing it

Kieshi Using Quest3/DeoVR (no cable link). As it's loading, I quickly lay down and reposition the headset looking up, then after the background and video thumbnail screen loads, I reposition with my controller binding (press both trigger buttons on right controller at same time) so that the video thumbnails are above me at eye level. Since the update, the screen loads anywhere from 90 degrees clockwise to 90 degrees counterclockwise every time I try to recenter, or in and out of every video, unless I lean my head(set) downwards which makes it more horizontally tolerable within 20 degrees. The PC Oculus/Meta most recent update version is 13.15 updated 2 days ago. I don't use this, but oculus.exe opens when I play a video on the website; it didn't do this before the update.

Kieshi
Yes, it is always tilted once I open the app, not just the video.
The only thing that is correctly oriented is 2D messages like "Connecting to Handy"
As @abcrebel pointed out, this might be while lying down so that may be what you have to do to reproduce the issue. This has never been a problem before.

In Pico 4 with the new update this happened one time so far, I was watching a video, took the headset off , put it back on but when it came out of sleep mode only one lense was working, i had to put it in sleep and wake it up again and both lense were working fine, so far this only happened one time while deo was open. If it happens again I'll report back. đź‘Ť

I posted a thread about this but might as well mention it here:

I found a bug in 13.15 where "Switch playback engine" also flips the video vertically.

Really don't like the new menu re centering function. I don't seem to have the angle issues, but the menu never re centers in a good location for me. Have to remind myself to look up every time before hitting the menu button just so the menu will appear in a usable location. I was very happy with the static menu location. Can we please toggle off this new feature???

I have the following problem, I am using Quest 2 and the current version of deovr, along with Kiroo Keon and Power Blow everything is connected directly in the app, after a certain time the app just switches off and I am on the Quest 2 home screen

Hi guys, looking into all of the comments and getting back to the team with these

Silly-Sausage by lockup you mean that you cannot press anything, video is not moving or something else? Can you please give more details?
Ideally if you could record this, would be much appreciated

Kieshi Hi, thanks for your reply, i've just tested several random webcams, and didn't get the same issue again, so assume it was possibly a glitch that worked itself out - I will delete my original post so it doesn't get picked up again. Thanks again.

bartosz what setup are you using? Which headset and is it SteamVR or some other tool?

andman24 I have the same problem, using Q3 with just a Keon. Connected VIA bluetooth to DEOVR directly (no phone app). Similar behavior, it will seemingly just drop straight back to the home. This has happened when I was doing nothing other than watching, since I thought maybe it was a weird issue with one of the new binds or shortcuts, but no it's crashed without any input.

I decided to check the forums out, frankly I figured a lot of folks would be having/reporting this issue - but it seems like it's maybe limited to folks using Meta device, DEOVR on the device and with a Keon (or other device). So, please don't ignore this and brush it off like it's only two people, If it was even four reporting it I never would have went through the trouble to make an account/post. Thanks and good luck, this feels like it'd be annoying AF to try and fix =/ but hopefully easy enough to reproduce, no pun intended.

Stalinator - I just passed on your issue to the team - does this happen every single time you watch a single video with your Keeon directly connected to DeoVR?

                  Kieshi Hello Sir,
Regarding "UI now recenters automatically upon appearing"
Just wanted to say if you want to make it as a "Switch Off/ On" in global settings, make it Off by default for two reasons:

1- Sometimes DeoVR Steam version resets settings upon updates especially for Meta Quest 2 Touch controllers. I personally don't want to deal with other annoying stuff like this setting to turn it Off too after updates.

2- You'll save yourself and your team many headaches from reports about this "annoying/ weird" UI behavior, especially from new/ Inexpert DeoVR users. Making the Setting Off by default is the best approach in this situation. Expert users can turn it On if they want this setting. After all, they know what they are doing.

Finally, thank you so much for your patience and for taking our feedbacks seriously. Greatly appreciated!

                  Respectfully,
                  Victor.

I am also experiencing crashes with DeoVR since the 13.15 update with the Quest 3 directly connected to the Keon. The crashes occur a short time after starting playback on any video with haptics enabled. I switched to using the Haptics Connect app as a workaround and haven’t had a crash since.
