These technical things may all seem obvious to some on paper. The problem is, real humans have to perform in these scenes. How much fun do you think it will be to perform in scenes with “no hands” and having to stay perfectly still with “no fucking back” just so it matches up with some guy laying on his bed at home? If I’m a porn performer, I’m staying the hell away from those cold technical scenes with no passion, fun or intimacy. It sounds like the complete opposite of what porn should be.

I understand the intention of passthrough and the appeal of it looking like the girl is in your room on top of your body. In practice though, it will never truly be able to mimick that unless you make it so rigid and inactive that it becomes totally boring to watch.

    This is a ridiculous statement. The stunt cock is a paid participant with a job to do. If the job requires you to stay still and not use your hands, that's what you do.           With respect to shooting a cumshot per camera set up you could do like a facial in the first set up where you would want maximum volume, a cum in mouth in another where less volume would be acceptable and maybe fake a creampie and just imply that it happened through body language and some natural dialogue from the model that you might have in a real life scenario.

          Naturalism is key here, I think too much fake 2D porno stuff is trying to transfer over, like showing a creampie in the camera or cheesy dialogue or scenarios. Really, the people directing should be thinking of actual hot real sex they've had and try and capture that. Simulate two people being really into it together.

            I think more up close tease sequences in the beginning of each scene would be nice. Really nice close up face shots with dirty talk, underboob view teases and standing facesitting are all awesome in VR already, but would be extra amazing in more passthrough scenes than what we have currently.

            The sex can always come later but I feel like we need more teases like gonzo studios did in the 2010s where you really get a nice tour of a woman's body first and then they begin with foreplay. Studios like bangbros do this all the time.

            Wendigo except they don’t have a boss, they can pick and choose what jobs they want to do or don’t want to do. So yes they can say “this isn’t fun, I’d rather not show up”.

            You either have the choice of shooting some gonzo scene where you get to have wild sex and fuck the shit out of a top pornstar or you can shoot some bullshit scene with a lower tier star where you can’t touch the girl, have a huge camera rig in your face and you have to lay rigidly still without making a sound. Oh and you have to stay hard despite all the restrictions. Which scene do you choose?

            Not just talking about the male performer either. It can’t be fun for the girl to have sex with some dead fish who doesn’t fuck back or even touch her. Plenty of girls already don’t shoot normal VR as it’s too technical and lacking in any intimacy.

            It is a job but it’s a job where you have to portray something fun and sexy. That’s harder to do if it’s not remotely fun or sexy.

              If you were talking about regular VR, I'd agree with you. I would prefer if the male actor was a little handsy occasionally. No problems with "fuck backs" at all. But in AR, it completely ruins immersion.

              I feel like this is the biggest roadblock for AI Passthrough vs Native Passthrough.
              Traditional VR viewers prefer the natural handsy and fuck back movements. They don't want to give that up just to facilitate AI passthrough. AR viewers want the male models to stop doing all of that so the videos are more compatible with AI passthrough. The more compatible it is, the more immersive it is in AR.

                  Suggested Improvements:

                  • Avoid male hands obstructing the model's body
                  • Need closeup missionary shots where the model is lying on the bed and the camera is close to her face. Seated missionary is not the same.
                  • Camera needs to be closer to the model's face most of the time, in most positions.
                  • Lighting and color correction needs to be closer to home environments (try mixing studio and warm lights, use less direct lighting)
                  • Avoid furniture props, like stripper poles, because most people don't have one at home.
                  • Get rid of leaning back shots, where the model is leaning away from the camera. Instead have the model lean forwards, her face should be close to the viewer's face.
                  • Avoid side to side motion this makes it difficult to align with the stunt cock.
                  • Move the subject further away from walls this will prevent green color spill on to the skin (currently, there is still a little color spill).
                  • "simulated 6DOF" needs better tracking (it shifts too much, i.e. the girl is not pinned to one location in 3d space. Moving closer or further is not accurately displayed).
                  • More intimate scenarios, most people are viewing at home so the scenario should match that environment (e.g. GFE, cheating, taboo, hot date, escorts, 4th wall break directly talking to the viewer, etc.)

                  Takeway: Shooting AR correctly is more challenging than VR, because the environment changes from viewer to viewer. Most people are viewing at home so the production needs to be more intimate and match home environments (e.g. lighting and scenarios).

                    MickyCheese good points. I wonder though if it might not be better to color correct the passthrough feed instead though as good lighting is very important for video quality.

                      As for 6DOF:
                      It should work with the repositioning in all directions option which is very important for alignment especially in passthrough.
                      Also you should be able to lock a distance in place like in heresphere. Setting the distance to something like 65cm would fix you cock in place even if you move your head from side to side or up and down.

                      That's an interesting turn:

                      Would using a male sex doll make production any easier? I'm not suggesting a partial torso, but a full size doll.

                      The head could be removed allowing better camera placement.

                      The doll could be painted eliminating the body suit.

                      The doll will always be the same height and body shape.

                      The penis could be swapped out for different shoots, flesh, black, passthrough.

                          obilisk2450 I don’t disagree with the immersion element, I totally get, from an AR perspective, why hands/movement is an issue, it’s not really about my preference. My point is that, if you make all these restrictions in order for AR to work properly, it will not be a good experience to perform in them and you may find lots of performers won’t want to be involved in those scenes. Like I said, some girls already refuse VR as they find it too cold and lacking in intimacy. We’re now talking about going to even further extremes where the guy can’t even move or touch so it’s even less interactive or intimate. You might as well just have a girl bouncing on a dildo at that point.

                                    Hairsational Yeah that's something that SLR has to keep in mind. They're going to create content that a part of the community will love and the rest will hate it. It's divisive. Then again, the part that loves PT doesn't really have much alternative, there's no website out there that offers PT at least not at this quality. I think for now the best would be to offer PT content and then in the best possible way (so not caring about non PT viewers, just create the PT content in the best possible way) but just in a not too high ratio. Maybe 1 in 4 or 5 scenes PT and the rest normal content. I guess that would be a way to keep most happy, although for me personally of course I'd want 100% PT, but I'm realistic enough to see that right now that would come at the cost of SLR losing viewers.

                                    And then when PT takes off even more (and I KNOW it will, it's just a matter of time and better/more affordable PT headsets) and other sites start offering it too, THEN it might become time to turn things around and offer more, or even only, PT

                                        Hairsational I do believe it will become dominant in the coming years. But in the end when AI becomes really good, a combination of VR and PT will win, it will be a reverse process: VR scenes with the viewer being projected into the scene. So, the viewer as the actor in a VR scene. That way you will have best of both worlds: maximum immersion within any possible scene of choice. And then it won't even be true video anymore at some point but more like VAM, so based on 3d models. Right now personally I don't care too much about VAM, although the video quality is now getting pretty good, it's still too far from being even close to real video right now, that it doesn't even really excite me, but that's of course the real future of porn, some kind of VAM scene in video quality with yourself projected into the scene.
