petergriff I'm very appreciative of all that have tried to help but goddamn computers just don't like me ...
my laptop is not recognizing the Quest device . I have plugged the headset in at least eight times and only twice the the headset ask for permissions. I cannot tell you how frustrating this is.
Downloads onto Quest 2
whosyourdaty Not sure how you haven't figured it out yet, here is an easy guide:
adinihsan Yes sir. It definitely SHOUOLD be simple. Perhaps my ignorance trumps simplicity again ... is the cable that comes with the Quest 2 doe charging the same as the Quest Link cable - in lieu of a USB-C ??
whosyourdaty Either work, you mentioned you gave permission twice, so the cable you used works.
After giving permission simply open files on PC and find your Quest
adinihsan When connected, my laptop is not recognizing the Quest device. It does not appear under "This PC" on the right side of the screen.
whosyourdaty I think once you have put the cable into your headset you have to click on the notifications bell on the home menu in your quest 2 then click on usb detected?
Viper07 Nothing is working. I give up. Time to take a hammer to all of it.
whosyourdaty Hold off on the hammer for now lol. Just click the bell in on your home menu in the quest 2 on the bottom panel to the left next to the time and then click on usb detected, if it's not showing up then unplug the cable from the headset and put it back in again and it should come up then follow the instructions from the video above.
Viper07 Thank you for trying to help but I have done just exactly that dozens of times with no luck. I plug the cable in, get the "tone", beep" ... SOUND ... over and over and maybe once in 10 tries the prompt will appear asking for permission. But it only displays for 2 or 3 seconds at the most and only twice was I fast enough to click on it but nothing happens. There is nothing in the Notifications and the laptop does not recognize the headset - the headset makes the "sound" when plugging in the cable but the laptop does not. Mayby I need to get a different PC but that seems silly since it performs perfectly otherwise - with any other device I connect. External hard drive ... Thumb drive ... USB Cables ... charge my phone ... it recognizes everything but the goddamn headset.
whosyourdaty try this:
Check the Settings>System>Developer menu in the headset and see if 'USB connection dialog' has been turned off (it should be on)
The cable that comes with the headset works.
You don't have to be "fast to click on it", all q2/q3 notifications can always be found by clicking on the bell on the menu bar in the q2/q3 headset, select the "usb allow access one". Until you do this your computer isn't allowed access.
Once I allowed access, the quest2/3 showed up under "this PC" in a file browser window on the computer.
Then you can copy any video to the headset (or from the headset) the same way you would copy a file on your computer, just drag from one window to another.
adinihsan I go to Settings then to System ... there is no "Developer" option
adinihsan Searched "USB" in Settings and it says "No results found"

whosyourdaty its easy to google these things:
Get the Phone's Oculus app
Connect your Quest
Select your Quest
Select More Settings
Activate developer mode
Then check the settings in headset, hope it works out
