This is super exciting news and love the transparency/updates with the community 👍️

There's a few nay sayers when it comes to PT or assigning talent to work with PT - those people fail to understand from a business sense: If PT is the 'next big thing' that people want, SLR needs to jump ontop of it ASAP and produce content/better the technology before competition wakes up and starts competing. Early bird gets the worm as they say..

Businesses that do not push the boundaries and try new things become a dinosaur and die to the more driven tech savvy ones. Can you imagine the horror of if SLR was still releasing 4K videos and not 6K, 8K we now have? Innovation is always necessary.

If PT ends up not being the next best thing then no real loss, there are plenty more videos available and a constant stream of new releases (not just SLR Originals either!)

Can we get a bit more context for: 4. Greatly improving our casting logic?

    Rustam1990 Imho it's simply the nature of Western mainstream porn. It's about cutting expenses to maximize profit on mass-produced scenes because frankly most people watching mainstream porn just do it for a 10 min. wank - not watching a 90 min. cleverly planned out scene. It was just a matter of time before this mentality took over in mainstream VR after we had some years of fun. Now it's just autopilot and I doubt that's going to change.

    It happened in 2D too but the difference is that in that market independent studios and creators filled in the void with actual creative scenes with longer stories, concepts, etc. and with large successes. We don't have that in VR - yet. The reason I can only speculate about but I think the issues are the market is to small and that VR/AR porn is nowhere near as easy as shooting a 2D scene. It requires know-how and expertise that aren't easily acquired. And it's expensive too.

      I disagree with this notion that there's no risk in SLR being too gung-ho about PT. The main customer base is still VR users, and if a sizable group of VR users don't like the direction SLR is going, they will flock to competitors who focus on VR. Simple as that.

          vrguy69 competitors are also intending to make inroads into PT. Where are you all likely to go lol?

              • Maybe I'm vanilla, but one of the reasons I often don't watch SLR originals is because the acting and dirty-talk is often truly horrendous (and that's taking into account that it's porn). Having the girl constantly saying the same tired lines as nearly every other actor in the SLR originals gets old really quick -- I remember one recent addition who looked stunning but completely ruined the scenes because she couldn't stop saying "Oh My God" every second. Less is more. I look at stars like Ann Joy as the gold standard for this -- she manages to be smoking sexy without having to say very much at all (and when she does, it's crazy hot and not fake sounding).
              • Regarding passthrough, I would recommend looking at VREdging's Ann Joy Director's Cut scene from a few months back to show what is possible with a single male position. Easily one of my favorite VR porn examples, especially with haptics.
              • With PT, there cannot be cuts. Seriously. Nothing is more weird and off putting than the scene shifting like the girl just teleported to the other side of the bed. This was already annoying with non-PT and just gets worse with PT.
              • This is just my personal body-image take, but I really think it's time for BG porn to retire the 12 inch schlongs. Most guys don't have that, and especially in VR and PT VR, it can feel shaming when that is pretty much all we average dudes see as the "standard".
              • I long for something like PornHub Community in VR porn. Some of the absolute hottest 2d porn lives there and is NOT produced by large studios. Take a look at JackAndJillVR for example: some of the best amateur VR experiences out there despite their consistently poor production quality and lighting, because it turns out they're actually having fun and enjoying sex rather than faking it. One way SLR could help make this happen is by releasing a "best practices" guide that content creators could download so it becomes easy. IE, "buy this camera, do this to ensure your scenes are set up the way you want them, etc." Then allow uploads to SLR in the same way PornHub does. The key is to make it as inexpensive and easy as possible.
              • Going back to Ann Joy as a positive example -- it helps when the actor is actually good at sex, particularly when it comes to raising arousal. Seriously. I remember when her first BJ vid came out with VREdging and I probably went through that video dozens of times, simply because she actually knows how to give a great BJ (taking into account haptics in this case). Agatha Vega is another excellent example of the "less talking, more being simply great at sex" idea.
              • Please use maths to get the perspective correct with PT and POV videos. Don't eyeball it. Given the Quest 3 is the biggest PT headset right now and I believe has LIDAR, there could even be a way to get DeoVR to use the LIDAR distance sensor to correct the perspective automatically. Or, do it the simple way and allow for height setting upon startup like Blade and Sorcery and other VR games do so the body perspective is correct (which takes seconds to do).
              • Please fix DeoVR so that its zoom function is on par with HereSphere. This is the only way to correctly fix height issues when the male talent in a PT scene is either shorter or taller. Currently in DeoVR, you have to fiddle with multiple settings just to fix the perspective and it's annoying. HereSphere corrects automatically. With PT this is especially apparent as having to zoom out, the girl looks like she's tiny without correcting horizontal perspective.

                        PT have reasonable sized 'schlongs' no? when I place myself in that position I am around that size, I think about 7 inches - that is the norm I think.

                            Especially this. It really is something to behold when an actress is simply great at sex, and it is equally amazing how the "Oh my God! Oh shit!" every 3 seconds actresses can make their beauty utterly irrelevant with their inane chatter. I mentioned this during the last "reset" post when SLR said they were going to focus on brand new talent or those who had never shot VR by default - new talent is nice, but not if they can't sell it. VR as a medium is particularly hard on inexperienced or lackluster talent. Unfortunately, SLR seems to be focused more on constant novelty rather than on consistent quality.

                                      The problem with PT and other POV is that it's often hard to tell because the perspective is messed up. The bad DeoVR zoom functionality doesn't help with this.

                                        Any plans to still venture out with your own JAV content? (I don’t count the western actresses that I’ve seen so far) I know the exclusivity contracts and such are a headache, not sure if that’s still a thing

                                        I think where the paradigm has shifted and SLR has an opportunity to lead with this shift is recognizing that what worked in 2D and even VR porn does not work when haptics get involved. For this first time ever, there is a deeper level of interaction involved, and that means that the "fakeness" can't really hide any longer like it could in 2d and non-haptic porn.

                                        The talking point I made, when examining through the new paradigm, can be boiled down to a simple question: despite how hot this person is, would I want to have sex with them given they're clearly faking it and annoyingly saying the same thing over and over? While I can't know for sure, I suspect that for many of us, the answer is no. It wouldn't matter how hot they are since the annoyance kills the mood.

                                        Maybe I'm too cerebral, but I want to feel like there is intelligence in the experience, and non-stop "OMG" and "this feels so good" and repeated baby-talk are the exact opposite of that. Liz Ocean doesn't say a single word in the few videos she has and nevertheless, I find them infinitely more hot than the "acting" that has been in many other offerings. It's too easy to see through the acting, and when it feels like the woman isn't actually enjoying herself and is just going through the motions, that's a huge turnoff.
