I would use it as a novelty now and again if it was a convincing effect (i.e. I really believed she was there) and not so fiddly to use in practice. As others have said, it is so restrictive that it’s only really doable if you don’t have to change positions like the VR Edging example.

Then there’s the issue someone said about having the guy not fuck the girl back as it breaks the illusion. That sounds fine on paper but it wouldn’t be much fun for the performers involved or give any kind of intensity or passion to the scene. It would just be very mechanical.

I’m not a toy user but how does it work with that? Surely you’d see the toy in passthrough which would totally break the illusion.

I understand the concept of it and why it’s attractive to people but I just think we’re a long way off it being slick enough to be great to watch and not look amateurish. I don’t think we’re in a position with it yet that it should be up towards 50% of the new scenes. Keep experimenting with it yes but let’s not have it take over the site.

    petermc it's not that bad with toys really. You sometimes see it but mostly in blowjob parts or handjob parts that are from the side. You just need a good hands free setup and a small toy like the handy

      fenderwq Focus on getting the shot lined up - I image this is very difficult but I watched several scenes today that where simply impossible to align up correctly. When you have a scene with a green suit this will result in a dick being in some random place or the girl being in a completely different perspective. Maybe this can be checked in a VR headset during shooting like the Japanese do? This one is hugely important to nail.

      So, Quest 3 has renewed my love of pass through videos -- it's so much better than the Pico 4 (my PT experience of Pico 4 went downhill after one of the SLR updates a few months ago, and I never figured out how to get it back).

      And you are correct that being able to get the right position is EVERYTHING. When the performers are in the right position, it seems like the girls are lying on my couch with me, or standing next to it, or sitting on top of me! But when the position is off -- not nearly so good.

      One idea I had -- I'm not sure it's possible, but -- What if the viewer could use a controller to "locate" his dick and then the scene would automatically adjust? That is, you point the controller at your crotch, hit a button, and now the stunt dick is always placed where your dick is. Or maybe the user puts one of the controllers on his crotch for a moment, like when setting the floor level.

      I think that might help.

          For me personally, CG models in PT seems to be a more interesting medium than real women in PT. It's not something I would necessarily wank off to like porn, but I think I would get a kick out of trying out.

          (I probably don't have PC specs good enough to run VAM though; only have a Ryzen 3700, RTX 3080, and I see you have a RTX 4090!!!)

                  For me it's a fun thing to experiment with "on the side". I don't have the time or dedication to create myself what some of these folks are able to do with creating full scenes/etc., but fortunately you don't really need to with the right Patreon subscriptions/etc. And a ton of free content is there on the HUB.

                  And your setup should be fine. VAM is notoriously un-efficient with GPU and CPU power, so even with a 4090 the improvement over a 3080 would be a lot less than you'd imagine. I have a 3080 and it does the job, and even my old 2080 did.

                      Wow -- that is something else! You know, I think I bought one of their devices when they were a startup and wasn't happy with it, so I tossed it. But this is incredible.

                          Probably! VirtAMate is a VR porn sandbox. You can toss 3D models, textures, scenes, clothes, toys, whatever, and then play in it!

                            I wish there was an SLR-branded VirtAMate or something similar, with official 3D scans, textures and voices from real pornstars 🤤 or even licenses for long-retired girls.

                            Tried the VAM passthrough thing for a bit out of curiosity and although it's fun it's also nowhere near the level that I would jerk of to it fidelity wise (and I have a 4090).

                            It's fun to move the models around and all but it's still a major pain in the ass to set up something other than just a basic pose. Really not worth it imo. Not trying to hate or anything, just wanted to add that I think this thing will be pretty sick in 6/12 years.

                            You know, with graphics that are actually lifelike in VR and most importantly a girl that is controlled by AI not by hours of setup. Having a few of your favourite girls walk around in your house AI controlled, do whatever you can think off. It's gonna be a strange but fun future.

                            mebejoe yeah, easily aligning would be great. Also having the right scale and a good perspective. And when you move your head from side to side the player should keep things aligned with your dick/body somehow

                                BTW, I had a 50w garden/construction led light laying around. It's like the equivalent of 5 ceiling lights. I turned it on at night and the passthrough is much better that way. Similar as during a sunny day I would say. These lights are only 15 bucks if you don't have one

                                If you look at the comments in aggregate it would suggest the primary issue to overcome is something like this:

                                A dude is ready to whack off--starts the video gets everything lined up to his physical space & gets going with the set of sexual actions filmed at a particular camera angle and point. Everything more or less works fine until the point that the camera is moved. At that point:

                                • The dude in real space has to move to match the camera change. E.g.: he has to stand up if sitting or lay down (if there's a bed in his space), etc. This includes, of course, moving his tissue, towel, lube, toys or whatever.

                                • He has to readjust a bunch of settings on the video app. Certainly: Tilt, likely Zoom, sadly sometimes Rotation, maybe even Horizontal overlap to adjust scale, etc.

                                • Rinse and repeat every time camera is moved (includes camera angle adjustments).

                                I know SLR knows this because you've talked about providing automated adjustments within AR videos. However, I don't think that will really work because too many of the adjustments are individuated to the particulars of the various viewers and their physical space (IPD, torso length, height etc.).

                                Rather I think they need to provide the ability for the user to save custom adjustments for each of the different 'sections' within an AR (passthrough) video. A section being a set of sexual actions in which the camera hasn't moved (e.g.: sitting BJ, sitting cowgirl, sitting reverse cowgirl).
