Call it "SLR Passthrough" or better "SLR Experimental" or whatever and stop fooling your customers that you would actually produce more proper VR scenes if the additional scenes are only gimmicky scenes that are pretty much unwatchable to many of your customers who subscribed for VR...
Yeah, I feel like passthrough could be good on something like the Quest Pro, but according to the stats posted on Reddit recently, only 0.1% of users are using that. 65% are using the Quest 2 which has awful quality, black & white passthrough.
I feel like being in new environments is one of the cooler things about VR. Putting yourself in an unfamiliar place and feeling like you're there. I just don't see how anyone can be immersed with a distorted black and white background, a pair of floating hands and a floating cock.

People constantly try to tell me that it was so much more immersive but I only think that they're probably simply not capable of proper imagination...
I guess it comes down to whether you actually want to be the guy in the scene "just how you are" or wether you want to roleplay another guy.
Personally, I'm not that much interested in the first one. I'm maybe not the most attractive guy ever, my dick is slightly below average and there's absolutely nothing interesting about me. But still, if I want to have sex in my bedroom with "me being me" I could just go out and meet some girls and fuck them in my bedroom. Will beat every passthrough scene to the beat, even with some futuristic $30k headset or whatever. VR is about roleplaying though. In VR I can be somebody else. Some attractive guy with abs and a big dick fucking beautiful girls in exotic places and luxury homes. I can be their teacher, their masseuse, their step-dad, their coach, their driving inspector, their pizza guy. I could be white, black or everything in between. Hell, I could be even a girl. That's the core fascination of VR for me.
Interestingly enough, that's not so far away from gaming. There are people who want to be the person in a game, they want the person to look like them, act like them etc. And there are people (like me) who don't want to be themselves in a game, but rather care for and roleplay another character.
I honestly think that VR and AR are targeting two pretty much entirel different customer bases. Comparing AR to VR is like comparing VR to 2D. So I really don't get why it's handled like it was essentially the same which it isn't AT ALL. It might use the same or very similar tech but it's a completely different fantasy for different people liking and expecting totally different things. That's why it also amazes me why there is so little understanding for people not being happy about these two things being mixed into the same product (on top of the fact that it doesn't properly work in general with current tech).

It's all just about creating an illusion anyway whether it's VR or AR. I am loving this passthrough stuff, but I also love the VR stuff, just depends on what I am in the mood for.

LordCrash Either way...I think there is room for both on SLR. If someone does not want to see passthrough content, then all they have to do is hide it. I like that SLR is trying something new, but I would never want SLR to focus solely on passthrough, and I don't think that will happen anyway.

Fact is that VR and AR are not the same thing and people don't necessarily need to be happy that their money is used for something that they haven't subscribed for. There are people who prefer one of those and there are people who enjoy both but that doesn't mean that it should be on the same page. I also watch a lot of 2D porn and I don't want or expect SLR to provide me with 2D porn either. There are other sites for that.

I am hating this passthrough stuff. It is as far from immersive as anything could be. Why? Because the hardware isn’t ready for it. So essentially these are beta testing scenes while SLR gets ready for whatever generation of affordable headset can actually play them in a manner that convinces us she’s really there. The tech is so far from that right now, yet this crap continues to pollute the stream.
I didn’t agree to pay SLR to be a beta tester. These scenes do not belong in the release schedule. They should be extras up in the sandbox where interested parties can play with them all they want and provide feedback to further the ongoing development.
I also resent like hell that anticipated talent we can’t find anywhere else get put into these tests and experiments. WTF is that about? It’s happened twice now

argyle43 Well I have a Pico 4 so it's color and acceptable. I also think it is still pretty gimmicky but there is definitely a future in this passthrough thing imo.
Also, saying that vr is already immersive just doesn't make sense. Wouldn't it be more immersive if you could feel, smell or touch the girl? Similarly having your own body and room is simply a good way to trick your brain. If this was perfect I think you wouldn't even argue with this.
Now am I all for passthrough? Not really, I usually watch content with my 8kx. But hey, variety is the spice of life and I love the prospect of pushing VR into next levels of immersion.

I know that AR and passthrough are about you being real you in the scene. That's what I actually explained in my post. That's the whole issue indeed since I don't necessarily desire to be real me in a porn scene, I want to be somebody else. But not watching somebody else, BE somebody else. You know, like role-playing, you get into a role, another character, an alter ego. That's what VR is all about for me and that's the difference to AR which does everything to convince you that stuff happens in your real world to yourself as your real self while VR is about fantasies that could happen to whomever you'd wanna be in a fantasy world in which everything is possible...
