  • Splitting longer movies into 1h episodes

I was thinking if we want this for Originals. It’s going to be somewhat faster processing for the first release and is expected to be better logistics. Those 3h video chunks are hard to manage. These 2h scenes will probably be better in two 1h episodes titled Part 1 and Part 2.

Upcoming 3h EU harem scene will be split in 3 parts to try it out.

I strongly oppose this idea for several reasons:

    1. Negative and disjointed experience: Splitting the scene means the scene will release over separate days, thus creating a very disjointed VR experience. Sure, a person can wait til all parts are released to watch, but that's just not going to happen with customers, especially casual customers that don't frequent the boards. If you look at the previous split harem scenes, people were upset that their X favorite position wasn't included, or Y person didn't get fucked. The general public won't have the patience to wait for the full scene to come out, and so the comments will be a stomping ground for negativity, and it will leave an overall bad impression of the scene as a whole.
    2. Multiple script purchases: I'm fine with scripts costing more money when they are longer (the scripters deserve it). But multiple parts means multiple script purchases, which also means loading time between parts, resyncing with the scripts, etc. VR is about immersion. Every time the user has to back out of a scene, start up a new script, wait for it to load up... it breaks immersion. It hurts the experience. It will hurt the scene.
    3. Too many places to add feedback. There's already so much noise and places to leave feedback, so feedback will get lost or drowned out. Forums, comment sections, reddit, etc. Splitting the scenes will create more comment threads will people will have to repeat themselves, break conversations, point them elsewhere, etc. It's just not manageable. Better to have one centralized place.
    4. The scene will split the likes. Each part will get fewer likes than the last. People will forget which part is which. People will lose track of the full scene. It will create more confusing results for analytics. People will tend to watch one part over another part, and thus the entire scene doesn't get the credit it deserves.
    5. Awards. Maybe trivial to some, but how can a VR scene win awards if it's split into multiple parts. Dream Team was last year's big SLR scene winner. A legendary scene. Yes it had a separate voyeur part, but the main POV scene it was won all the attention and it is the one that won the award. Splitting scenes into 2 parts, and worse even 3 parts... that's just shooting yourself in the foot.

There are probably other reasons, but that's all I'll say for now as my initial reaction to this news.

PS All of @alexnash scenes are over 1h, most close to 2h. If every single Nash scene is going to be split into 2 parts, it is absolutely 100% an immersion killer, and will just frustrate users to no end. Imagine diving into a highly anticipated Nash scene, get all excited and immersed, only to be blue-balled halfway in the scene, and have to wait 3 more days to see the end. It'll kill the whole experience.

PPS Granted, I can only speak from the user point-of-view. I don't know the toll that a 2-3h scene has on the SLR workflow or media supply chain with such a massive file size / scene length, nor do I know how it affects the $ numbers, etc. Maybe it is much more beneficial for SLR to split into multiple scenes / clicks / etc. But from my point-of-view as a customer, I am not a fan of this decision.

g2kbuffetboy how many Oscars and Grammys get tiktok videos?
We have to fundamentally change the format in the long run.
Guys are rolling out new segments logic soon

        God yes!

        Structure
        (1) Intro & solo
        (2) Eye facing positions
        (3) Rear facing positions
        (4) BTS outtakes

[deleted] the chapter points and video metadata (if using SLR’s app) already allows users to jump to these spots. Splitting up these parts into separate videos makes the entire scene feel like clips. This is really what @doublevr and you want? VR clips instead of VR experiences with story, immersion, progression, etc?

Good to know SLRO are thinking of this (longer interconnected scenes). While I don't mind the current design of 1-2h long vids. You can have a look at what JAVVR studios do:

Most scenes are multipart like this:
First part - sets the scene, little tease, maybe a BJ with oral creampie. Usually the buildup lasts for at least 20 mins, which may be too long for a connoisseur of Western VR.
Second part is where it escalates to sex,
Subsequent parts differ in setting, position and inclusion of more performers (would be useful since models have different booking times).

What's different is that JAVVR releases these parts all in one go. Most releases are also as a result at least 90 mins long and some "epic" releases can go up to 4 hrs.

Yes, totally agreed on this part. JAV does release their scenes in separate parts, but the main difference is they release all at the same time. And often times their “parts” are actually separate scenes. Part 1 is with X model. Part 2 is with Y model. Part 3 is with X&Y model. I love this kind of thing as because it creates more of a “series” of events and stories, often with each part set in a different location.

But overall if the idea is to split single scenes into multiple parts… that’s just ridiculous. Also say goodbye to peoples download limits (which folks already complain about). And waiting 1.5-2 weeks for a scene to be completely release is just nonsense.

My major inconvenience is that player seek bar value is 2-3x times less

doublevr My major inconvenience is that player seek bar value is 2-3x times less

The last I checked, the SLR/Deo seekbar is very small, indeed. The player UI is limited by the size of the control panel. Have you considered making the control panel or seek bar wider? This will help with seeing the chapter points and metadata more clearly. This seems more like a reasonable solution instead of splitting single scenes into multiple parts to accommodate the UI of the app.

Will65 Lol, first time in a while yes. But the way things are going here, maybe it'll be the last time in a while as well. I literally have no ill-will intent here, just trying to offer counter-points. I mean, why have this thread opened for discussion with customers in the first place if SLR doesn't want to engage with users in earnest?

I agree with @g2kbuffetboy. I don’t like this idea of splitting a long scene into multiple parts.

Especially if there’s no cumshot in the first part. It just ends abruptly with no conclusion? That’s anticlimactic IMO.

Even if you wait until all parts are released, then watch them back to back. You still have to go and switch scenes after the first part is over.

                Anyways, just my opinion.

                Rustam1990

I like the JAV structure. It really makes for a cohesive story. Instead of random scenes. But listening to Melody Marks describe how they film in Japan in an interview was eye opening. They film all three parts in one day. With separate hair, makeup, wardrobe for each segment, and possibly different location. At the very least, a different part of the house.

Which usually adds up to very long shoots. Possibly all day. Not sure how this kind of filming would be received in the U.S. Where performers expect shooting one scene per shoot.

[deleted] @Rustam1990 @g2kbuffetboy I also like the idea of a multi part story with a build up. @doublevr never said anything about that. PielnSky that is a good idea but the way the last few scenes have been then they are going in the other direction.
If it is a multi part story then I still like it as one. Although that was not the reason given. The reason is because of a small search bar.

+1 for multi part stories but that wasn't the question

                @doublevr

This method would allow them to include more content per model, so supposing their casting director has done a good job it's the way to go.

Why not try it with Myra Glasford's upcoming scene. She is worth multiple episodes, guaranteed.

                Video 1.
Be upfront with the viewer. For the first video of the series the model arrives and teases the viewer with how the scenes are going to be released, with the hardcore stuff coming after the interview, grooming check, toy testing, costume try-on, meet the crew, and demonstrate (without a guy) the various positions of the scene. The model could be guided with that cool electronic voice SLR has used in the past, because not every model can fake it as well as Leanna Lovings and Melody Marks with improvised dialogue.

                Video 2.
Model meets her co-star. Groping and close-ups of all body parts frontal. Missionary and front-facing positions.

                Video 3.
All ass episode, with toys, groping, and positions like doggie style and reverse cowgirl, leading to the creampie and clean-up and any interesting BTS outtakes

                How about that?

If you don’t want scenes longer than an hour, stop making scenes longer than an hour, simple!

No single porn scene needs to be the length of an entire Hollywood movie. Splitting the scenes up though is a bad idea.

doublevr It would be a terrible idea. I already dislike Deepinsex for doing that because whenever I watch a part, I completely lose interest in continuing with the second part.

                    @doublevr

DeepInSex is a fantastic studio, with two films I'd say are classic, The Blake Blossom modelling video (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/supermodel-22156) and Mazy Myers' porn debut (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/amazing-mazy-28029). Where they've gotten things wrong, which may be by intention, is forgetting or choosing not to upload the second half of their films to SLR (for example, this film, which is available in abysmal quality through SLR's competitor, POVR: https://povr.com/vr-porn/mazy-close-up-6317329).

Other studios get things wrong through their crazy multipart films, like Taboo VR Porn (https://www.sexlikereal.com/studios/taboo-vr-porn). For example, if this were separated into three parts SLR users could avoid the first part of the film, which is entirely ruined through a blurred lens, https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/truth-or-dare-with-stepsister-24511). By combining the three scenes as one TabooVR ruins the quality of their films post-production by way of multiple stages of conversion, such as this one, which I have in 'original' quality but looks terrible and that I downloaded only for the third scene (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/stepsis-helps-with-sports-injury-24084).
