Splitting longer movies into 1h episodes

My major inconvenience is that player seek bar value is 2-3x times less
g2kbuffetboy that’s the only thing you took from my post? I’m trying to offer constructive feedback here.
LOL
doublevr My major inconvenience is that player seek bar value is 2-3x times less
The last I checked, the SLR/Deo seekbar is very small, indeed. The player UI is limited by the size of the control panel. Have you considered making the control panel or seek bar wider? This will help with seeing the chapter points and metadata more clearly. This seems more like a reasonable solution instead of splitting single scenes into multiple parts to accommodate the UI of the app.
Will65 Lol, first time in a while yes. But the way things are going here, maybe it'll be the last time in a while as well. I literally have no ill-will intent here, just trying to offer counter-points. I mean, why have this thread opened for discussion with customers in the first place if SLR doesn't want to engage with users in earnest?
I agree with @g2kbuffetboy. I don’t like this idea of splitting a long scene into multiple parts.
Especially if there’s no cumshot in the first part. It just ends abruptly with no conclusion? That’s anticlimactic IMO.
Even if you wait until all parts are released, then watch them back to back. You still have to go and switch scenes after the first part is over.
Anyways, just my opinion.
I like the JAV structure. It really makes for a cohesive story. Instead of random scenes. But listening to Melody Marks describe how they film in Japan in an interview was eye opening. They film all three parts in one day. With separate hair, makeup, wardrobe for each segment, and possibly different location. At the very least, a different part of the house.
Which usually adds up to very long shoots. Possibly all day. Not sure how this kind of filming would be received in the U.S. Where performers expect shooting one scene per shoot.
[deleted] @Rustam1990 @g2kbuffetboy I also like the idea of a multi part story with a build up. @doublevr never said anything about that. PielnSky that is a good idea but the way the last few scenes have been then they are going in the other direction.
If it is a multi part story then I still like it as one. Although that was not the reason given. The reason is because of a small search bar.
+1 for multi part stories but that wasn't the question

This method would allow them to include more content per model, so supposing their casting director has done a good job it's the way to go.
Why not try it with Myra Glasford's upcoming scene. She is worth multiple episodes, guaranteed.
Video 1.
Be upfront with the viewer. For the first video of the series the model arrives and teases the viewer with how the scenes are going to be released, with the hardcore stuff coming after the interview, grooming check, toy testing, costume try-on, meet the crew, and demonstrate (without a guy) the various positions of the scene. The model could be guided with that cool electronic voice SLR has used in the past, because not every model can fake it as well as Leanna Lovings and Melody Marks with improvised dialogue.
Video 2.
Model meets her co-star. Groping and close-ups of all body parts frontal. Missionary and front-facing positions.
Video 3.
All ass episode, with toys, groping, and positions like doggie style and reverse cowgirl, leading to the creampie and clean-up and any interesting BTS outtakes
How about that?
If you don’t want scenes longer than an hour, stop making scenes longer than an hour, simple!
No single porn scene needs to be the length of an entire Hollywood movie. Splitting the scenes up though is a bad idea.

doublevr It would be a terrible idea. I already dislike Deepinsex for doing that because whenever I watch a part, I completely lose interest in continuing with the second part.

DeepInSex is a fantastic studio, with two films I'd say are classic, The Blake Blossom modelling video (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/supermodel-22156) and Mazy Myers' porn debut (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/amazing-mazy-28029). Where they've gotten things wrong, which may be by intention, is forgetting or choosing not to upload the second half of their films to SLR (for example, this film, which is available in abysmal quality through SLR's competitor, POVR: https://povr.com/vr-porn/mazy-close-up-6317329).
Other studios get things wrong through their crazy multipart films, like Taboo VR Porn (https://www.sexlikereal.com/studios/taboo-vr-porn). For example, if this were separated into three parts SLR users could avoid the first part of the film, which is entirely ruined through a blurred lens, https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/truth-or-dare-with-stepsister-24511). By combining the three scenes as one TabooVR ruins the quality of their films post-production by way of multiple stages of conversion, such as this one, which I have in 'original' quality but looks terrible and that I downloaded only for the third scene (https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/stepsis-helps-with-sports-injury-24084).

g2kbuffetboy the chapter points
Get a decent router and stream from your computer to your Quest 2. The visual quality is much higher.
Most studios fly in models for multiple films. At the very least, each major release with a new model should have a solo interview component film and BTS outtakes. I'd certainly download these for my favourite models. Fly in a model for two days. For the first day the model could be just with the camera guy at some normal, cheap to rent location. The second day would be full set, with co-star and crew. Day 1 she practices all the scenes from the film, talks about herself and tries on costumes. They do this anyway, at SLR, but lose all the money they could make by publishing only stills of the rehearsals.

I'm on a Pimax 8KX for 2 years now. I use Heresphere. Back in the day I used to stream from my computer but those days are long gone. (Anyways, my point about the chapter points were for those that crave clips. I am not one of them).

Personally, I don't enjoy scenes that are too long. I usually don't have the time for 1h+ scenes, so I always prefer 40-50minute scenes.
BUT there are exceptions:
- IMO the length of the final scene should be determined with the script/idea of the scene. I hate when DeepInSex releases 2 "different" scenes shot with the same model obviously on the same day, but use some positions exclusively for one video, and some positions exclusively for the other.
- Split scenes take you out of the immersion and easily feel like a ripoff to charge twice for pretty much the same content.

g2kbuffetboy those that crave clips.
I'm not suggesting "clips". I'm saying have a main video that is suitably long but don't just shoot repetitive grinding action for 1.5 hours. Use the extra time for original and interesting content, like an interview, maybe rehearsal of the positions, body closeups (grooming check), etc. Most studios that fly in models use each model for more than one scene. SLR hires models for one scene and publicity stills that no one sees because they are hard to find on these forums.
Pimax 8K. That's a monster of an HMD. I bet you can't wait for the release of Quest 3. That headset must be a real pain in the neck

Fapmaster17 some positions exclusively for one video, and some positions exclusively for the other
It's because most lie to the viewer and remove the transitions between the scenes. If the second video began with the model directly addressing the viewer with the explanation the videos would be better. Instead of just pretending the videos are separate the model could explain how first scenes were shot and what she'll be doing in the second scene.
[deleted] but don't just shoot repetitive grinding action for 1.5 hours. Use the extra time for original and interesting content, like an interview, maybe rehearsal of the positions, body closeups (grooming check), etc.
I'm not against BTS content, especially if it's some candid footage of performers I like. But if SLR were to trade 30 mins of "grinding" or "teasing" with BTS footage, then I'm not so sure that's a good idea. When you read comments on SLR Original videos, do you see how passionate commentators are, when X/Y position is left out? (ie "No close-up missionary with X?" "No forward/reverse cowgirl in seated?" "No doggy?" "No closeup vagina?" etc) If scenes start cutting runtime by 30+ mins, my gut feeling tells me many people will ultimately be disappointed.
Compare SLRO to VRBangers, where their average run time is 30-45 mins these days. I find myself completely unsatisfied after watching a VRB scene. They have nice casting and setups, but the core scene is always lacking, Their recent Vanna Bardot and Emma Hix scene, they only had close-up missionary with Emma, but not Vanna. Of course... people noticed and complained. On the other hand, SLR (in particular, Nash) does a really good job of getting every position in every time. Better to have it than not have it, IMO.
Ideally speaking though, if there wasn't a trade-off, I do like your idea. I would also like to see more BTS type videos, but just not at the expense of the core scene. Maybe we could get some BTS VR vids of SLR shooting the photo stills? That wouldn't necessarily add too much extra labor/time, and it would be fun to see the models posing for the cameras, etc
(Btw, if you like to see interviews, XSinsVR has a few recent interviews in VR. And you're probably aware already, but SLR used to have interviews 2+ years ago from set, found here. Viewership is very low though, so perhaps SLR did not find these worth the effort. But that was then, this is now. Maybe there is an appetite.)

Lol, it is a monster of a headset for sure. When I first tried it, I had neck pain for a week! I got used to it pretty quickly though, and even playing active VR games with it (Beat Saber, etc) it feels quite natural and I forget the headset is even on. I am excited for the Quest 3 though, mainly to finally experiment more with PT. But the headset I'm really waiting for is the Pimax 12k QLED next year.
petermc Splitting the scenes up though is a bad idea.
Getting back to the original topic, as petermc noted in the recent Tru Kait / Stratton BGG, there are too many cuts. The more cuts the less immersive the VR experience is. That's exactly why so many directors / VR studios try their best to have single takes for each segment, and that the editors have to mask all the audio cues instead of just cutting/transitioning. One of the first things I noticed about CzechVR in the early days, is how seamless all their scenes were. There were some scenes where after the couch segment, the camera would follow them to the adjacent bedroom to transition to the laying down section. That to me was incredible stuff. 18VR/Realjam also did the same, where they transitioned from the outside pool in one follow-cam shot into the living room. When done right, these kinds of transitions can really add to the experience. That is why splitting single scenes into 2 or 3 separate videos could be harmful to the experience. It's way more obtrusive than even a video cut or cross dissolve. It takes the user completely out of the scene.

Sadly, Badoink are slowly joining that stupid trend too. Just imagine booking Anya Olsen and Adria Rae, only to shoot 30-minute scenes with them.
Now that they're having upcoming scenes with Melody Marks and Jill Kassidy, I'm keeping my hopes low for proper scene lengths so that I don't get upset.
